    Babajide scores on debut as Roma cruise past Sassuolo

    Super Falcons attacker, Rinsola Babajide,  announced her arrival in Serie A with a debut goal as AS Roma eased to a 3-0 victory over Sassuolo at the Stadio Tre Fontane on Sunday afternoon.

    The Nigerian-born winger opened her account in the 21st minute, capping off a flowing Roma move with a composed finish that underlined her pace, precision, and attacking flair. The strike not only lifted the home crowd but also set the tone for a dominant display from the Giallorosse.

    Captain Giada Greggi doubled the lead just before halftime, smashing home in stoppage time (45+4) to give Roma a firm grip on the contest. Despite Sassuolo’s efforts to rally in the second half, the hosts’ experienced backline held firm to deny any breakthrough.

    Substitute Alayah Pilgrim sealed the result late on, slotting in Roma’s third in the 88th  minute to wrap up a commanding performance.

    AS Roma Women have officially confirmed the signing of Super Falcons’ winger, Rinsola Babajide, following her  departure from Spanish side,  Costa Adeje Tenerife otherwise known as CD Tenerife Femenino

    Roma announced her arrival  via  an official statement , welcoming the Nigerian international to the club.

    “AS Roma are delighted to announce the signing of Omorinsola Omowunmi Ajike Babajide, known as Rinsola Babajide. The player has penned a deal that will keep her at the club until 30 June 2027,” the club said in a statement on Monday.

    The 27-year-old brings her wealth of experiences  across  clubs in England including Millwall, Watford, Liverpool, and Brighton & Hove Albion  as well as in Spain  where she turned out for Real Betis  before joining Tenerife.

    Babajide expressed her excitement following  her transfer  to the Italian side : “It’s an honour to be honest. It’s a Champions League club, a prestigious club as well so I’m very happy to be here.”

    She added that Serie A’s competitiveness and technical style appealed to her: “I feel like it’s similar to the Spanish league, everyone’s technical, it’s a competitive league as well so I can’t wait to get started.”

    “Just being in Rome alone is precious, it’s an amazing experience. Even with the team, gelling well with the girls, securing the Champions League spot, trying to win as much silverware as possible in the league and cup games.”

    Describing her playing style, Babajide said: “I’m more of a direct, speedy, technical player, down the wing, I love to beat players 1v1, cross the ball in, as well as get shots and goals.”

    Babajide is set to reunite with compatriot  and  Super Falcons’ mate,  Shukurat Oladipo who joined the Italian giants in February.

    “Winning silverware, I feel like that’s the most important thing for the team, to win as much trophies as possible,” she said about her goals with the new club.“ Personally, I want to contribute towards the team, do better than I did last season.”

    AS Roma have officially confirmed the signing of Super Falcons winger, Rinsola Babajide, following her exit from Spanish side Costa Adeje Tenerife.

    The 27-year-old brings her two-year spell in Spain to a close after leaving Tenerife in May, and is now set to begin a fresh chapter in the Italian Serie A.

    Roma announced her arrival in an official statement released on Monday, welcoming the Nigerian international to the club.

    “AS Roma are delighted to announce the signing of Omorinsola Omowunmi Ajike Babajide, known as Rinsola Babajide. The player has penned a deal that will keep her at the club until 30 June 2027,” the club said.

    Babajide, a pacey winger by trade, began her professional journey in England, where she played for clubs including Millwall, Watford, Liverpool, and Brighton & Hove Albion. She later took her talents to Spain, turning out for Real Betis before joining Tenerife, her most recent club.

    Babajide wasted no time making her presence felt at the tournament, scoring on her WAFCON debut against Tunisia. With a crucial quarterfinal showdown against Zambia looming on Friday, the dynamic forward will be hoping to build on her impressive start and play a key role in propelling the Falcons into the semifinals.

    Super Falcons striker Rinsola Babajide has revealed her unyielding passion for music as her another hidden talent she would love to explore later.

    Babajide who is with the Nigeria’s women national team for the 13th  Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco said singing is a hidden talent of his that not many are aware of.

    Speaking on her inclusion in the Super Falcons squad for Morocco 2024 WAFCON, Babajide described it as a special privilege to put on the badge of her country and would do everything to defend it in Morocco if she’s given an opportunity to play.

    The former Liverpool forward who is making her debut at WAFCON promised to help the team if given a chance through goals, assists and her general contributions as she chase down her first silverware at national team level.

    “It is a very honourable feeling and I am so privilege to be here. Whenever I’m able to put on the badge, I just feel honoured and pride really,” Babajide told the NFF TV.

    “I am excited to get started. I want to make my WAFCON debut. That’s a personal things of mine. I want to contribute as I can towards the team like winning, scoring goals, assists and I want to win my first silverware.

    “I sing a little. I don’t know if they do know about that. It is just a little passion for mine.

    “I miss my family especially my parents and my boyfriend.”

    The UD Tenerife striker scored 10 goals with five assists from 26 Spanish Feminine League games last season.
