Former Super Falcons’ assistant coach, Rolandson Odey has praised the performance of the coach Justin Madugu-led side in Monday’s International friendly match against Portugal, describing the goalless draw in Lisbon as a fair outing for the team despite the challenges posed by late arrival of some players.
Odey who has been advocating for the appointment of indigenous coaches for the Super Falcons,
noted that the squad had only just reconvened and travelled for the match only on Sunday.

“It wasn’t a bad performance considering the circumstances,” he said. “From a tactical perspective, it wasn’t poor, but I would rate it 50/50 because the team is not yet complete. Some of the key players are still being expected, although that should not serve as an excuse.”
He commended the individual efforts of the players and underscored the importance of the match in preparing for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
“This game marks the start of the building process, and in terms of what they displayed against Portugal, I’d say it was a fair performance. It’s a good step towards WAFCON preparation,” Odey highlighted.
