    Rotary donates 100 nets to expectant mothers

    Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, in partnership with Rotarians against Malaria (RAM), has organised a programme aimed at protecting the health of expectant mothers in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.

    It donated 100 insecticide treated mosquito nets to expectant mothers, underscoring its commitment to maternal and child health care in the community.

    The event, held at Ojokoro Primary Health Centre, was attended by stakeholders, including the President of Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, Adekunmilola Adio-Moses, who delivered a welcome address.

    He said: “Malaria remains a persistent challenge in our region, and it is our responsibility as a community to safeguard the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens.

    “By providing these nets, we hope to empower expectant mothers and contribute to a healthier, more resilient Ojokoro LCDA.”

    The event also featured an insightful overview of the project by the Project Lead, Dr. Omowunmi Bakare, who highlighted the club’s dedication to addressing malaria.

    “Malaria poses a threat to the health and well-being of expectant mothers and their unborn babies.

    “Through this initiative, we aim to equip expectant mothers with tools to protect themselves and their families from the devastating effects of malaria,” said Rotarian Bakare.

    Health Education Officer of Ojokoro LCDA Mr. Ridwan Mayegun said: “Insecticide treated mosquito nets are a critical line of defence against malaria. Their consistent use can have a profound impact on the health and safety of our community.”

    Nets were distributed to expectant mothers in attendance.

    The event was a success. Through this collaborative initiative with RAM, Rotary Club of Omole-Golden has once again demonstrated its dedication to making a difference in the lives of those it serves.

    Rotary donates hygiene kits to students

    Rotary Club of Omole-Golden has donated hygiene kits to students of Oke-Ira Senior Grammar School, Ogba, Lagos.

    This was done when it held a hygiene sensitisation programme for the students, as part of its commitment to promoting health in the community.

    The President of the club, Jide Ogunleye, stressed the importance of hygiene and health awareness among youths.

    He said the club’s goal was to empower students with knowledge and skills they needed to maintain good hygiene practices and make informed decisions about their health.

    A keynote address was delivered by the Health Information Management Officer from Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, Mrs. Aigbavboa Ibitoun, who spoke on: ‘Hygiene and Adolescents’.

    She shared tips on how adolescents could maintain good hygiene practices, particularly during the critical stage of their development. She highlighted the importance of proper hygiene in preventing diseases and promoting well-being.

    The hygiene sensitisation programme is a key component of Rotary Club of Omole-Golden’s community service initiative, which focuses on promoting health, education and economic empowerment in the community.

    The event was attended by students, teachers and members of Rotary Club of Omole-Golden.

    Rotary Club of Omole-Golden, Lagos, with Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, have marked World Prematurity Day, an homage to maternal and child health.

    The event brought together mothers who gave birth in the past year, showing gratitude.

  • Club unites for polio walk

    Club unites for polio walk

     Rotary Club of Omole-Golden has joined District 9111 for an impactful polio walk, bringing together members, friends and families to raise awareness for global fight against polio.

    Leading the event was the club’s President, Rotarian Jide Ogunleye, joined by his wife, Mayokun and their daughter, Sharon. Their participation highlighted the strong family spirit that ‘’defines our club and emphasises the importance of community unity in Rotary’s mission.’’Ogunleye said: ‘’To amplify our message, our club branded a car with the bold End Polio message, adding a powerful visual presence throughout the walk. For many of our new members, including those who joined in the past year, this is their first polio walk.
