    Rotary District 9111 holds public image seminar

    Rotary International District 9111 will hold a seminar for its Public Image leaders at 10 am on Wednesday, December 3, this year at Rotary Centre, lkeja GRA, Lagos.

     The event is themed “Strengthening Rotary’s Credibility and Visibility Through Strategic Communication”.

    Rotary District 9111 Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele said: “ The seminar promises to be a transformative as it is dedicated to enhancing how Rotary is perceived and celebrated in communities.”

    Chairman, Ideas Communications Limited, Chief Yemi Akeju is the Chairman while the keynote speakers are Commissioners  for Information Ogun State, Mr Kayode Akinmade and his Lagos State counterpart, Mr Gbenga Omotoso.

    The speakers include Mr Muyiwa Akande, Group Head, Corporate Affairs Sifax Group to speak on Using Public Relations Strategy in telling Rotary’s story with impact; veteran broadcaster, Mrs Bimbo Oloyede on Telling Rotary’s story with credibility; Publisher, Marketing Edge, to speak on Strategic media engagement and Rotary’s brand; District Governor- nominee, Samuel Ayetutu on Brand Centre and Rotary logo; and Jide Ogunleye, Chief Executive Ritemate Technology Limited on Using Social media to amplify Rotary’s positive stories.

    The special guests of honour are Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe, President Rotary Club of Ewutuntun and Chairman Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security and Dr Segun Musa, Group Chief Executive of Widescope International Logistics Limited.

     Chairman Public Image Committee,  Otun Olalekan added: “Rotarians, Clubs’ Public Image chairmen, public relations, advertising and marketing communications practitioners are expected to attend the seminar.”

    Obasanjo, others for Rotary District 9111 conference

    Former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, and Rotary International President, Stephanie Urchick’s representative, Eric Kimani, from Nairobi, Kenya are among dignitaries expected at the Rotary International District 9111 pioneer conference today in Abeokuta,  Ogun State capital.

    Obasanjo is expected to give a goodwill message.

    A major item of the conference:  “Irresistible district conference 2025” is that the outgoing District Governor, Dr Wole Kukoyi, would present a report of his achievements.

    Other items include visitations to the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo (111), and Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso (Karunwi 111).

    Event’s Committee Chair, Busola Satuyi, said there would be a novelty football match between Rotary District 9111 and Lion District 404-A3.

    Governor Dapo Abiodun will open the event while his deputy, Noimot Salako- Oyedele, will deliver the keynote address.

    Rotary District 9111, First Bank lift 134 with start-up kits

    No fewer than 134 beneficiaries have received start-up kits across various trades.

    The event, held at Ikeja GRA, Lagos, was sponsored by Rotary International District 9111, and First Bank of Nigeria.

    District 9111 Governor Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi praised the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials.

    He noted: “This empowerment project is a testament to Rotary’s commitment to sustainable community development, and I urge all beneficiaries to utilise these resources effectively to improve their livelihoods and contribute positively to our society.”

    District Governor-Nominee and Project Coordinator, Bukola Bakare: “We are dedicated to ensuring that more individuals gain vocational skills and access to the tools they need for self-reliance.”

    She said the goods were bought in the open ammarket at competitive prices.

    Head of SME Banking and Money Transfer, First Bank Plc, Mr. Biodun Famuyiwa reiterated the bank’s commitment to empowering small businesses and entrepreneurs, adding that last year, the bank spent over N500billion on SMEs.

    Famuyiwa added: “At First Bank, we believe in financial inclusion and sustainable development. Supporting initiatives like this aligns with our mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities through strategic partnerships.”

    He urged the beneficiaries to avail themselves of the various financial support the bank provides small entrepreneurs, adding that these would boost their businesses.

    Also, Head, Vocational Training Centre, Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, Mrs Olaide Oladunjoye, commended Rotary for its role in skill acquisition and empowerment.

    “This collaboration underscores the importance of vocational training in eradicating poverty. Equipping individuals with tools for entrepreneurship is a step toward economic stability and growth.”

    The beneficiaries received their kits, which included: grinding machines, plumbing kits, deep freezers, sewing machines, generators, gas burners with cylinders, and barbers’ and hairdressers’ kits.

    Rotary District 9111 targets 30 per cent membership growth

    District 9111 Governor, Oluwole Kukoyi, has urged members to embark on membership drive to enable them achieve 30 per cent in 2024/25 Rotary Year.

    He spoke at inauguration of District Membership Lead and World Greatest Meal panels at Rotary Centre, in Ikeja, Lagos.

    Kukoyi urged them to deploy technology and public image strategies to get results.

    He added: ”So, please let us know those who are educated through Rochi.org to become members. They are going to filter them to get us close. We are hoping to have new members through this approach so at the end, we will be proud to meet our targets.’’

    He noted since the district took off on July 1, its membership has grown from two members to 133.  World Greatest Meal Chair, Babatunde             Salau, thanked him.

    Salau, past president of Rotary of Onigbongbo, sought assistance for funds to end polio, an area Rotary is holding a medallion.

    At the meeting also was Membership Committee Chair, Oladapo Sanni.

    Rotary District 9111 trains clubs’ presidents-elect

    Rotary International District 9111 is holding its Presidents-elect Training Seminar (PETS) between April 5 and 7 at Orchid Hotel, Ikota, Lagos State.

     In  a statement, PETS Coordinator, Rotarian Titi Sunmonu said the seminar is for building the capacity of the new leaders.

     Sunmonu added that Rotary International District 9111 Governor-elect, Dr. Wole Kukoyi stated that the two-day District Training Assembly (DTA) for elected clubs’ officers would follow from April 19 at the same venue while the District 9111 Learning Facilitator, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, who is the immediate Past District (9110) Governor, would lead other resource persons at the event.
