    Oyo Speaker commends peaceful conduct of PDP ward congress in Ibarapa East

    The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has commended party members in Ibarapa East Local Government for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Congress held across the 10 wards in the area.

    Ogundoyin monitored the exercise across both Eruwa and Lanlate, the two major towns that make up the local government.

    He expressed satisfaction with the transparent and democratic manner in which the new Ward executives emerged, noting that the smooth running of the congress is a strong indication of unity and cohesion within the party at the grassroots level.

    While addressing party members during the monitoring exercise, Ogundoyin thanked them for their maturity, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the PDP.

    “I want to sincerely commend our party members in all the 10 wards for conducting themselves peacefully and in accordance with the party’s guidelines. This shows we are united and ready to face the future as one indivisible political family,” the Speaker said.

    He reiterated the importance of internal democracy, stressing that the peaceful nature of the exercise reflects the growing political maturity of the party in Ibarapa East and in Oyo state at large.

    Ogundoyin also used the opportunity to encourage party stakeholders and leaders to continue promoting consensus and inclusivity, especially as the party prepares for future electoral contests.

    The newly elected Ward Executives will be responsible for coordinating party activities at the ward level and further strengthening the structure of the PDP in the grassroots.

    The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria and Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has led a delegation of state legislators on a two-week intensive training on metaverse technology cooperation and development in Shanghai, China.

    The specialized programme, hosted by the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) Shanghai under Executive Director Wu Yugang, brought together policymakers and administrators to explore cutting-edge advancements in digital innovation.

    The delegation engaged in academic sessions and hands-on activities on development trends in metaverse technology, industry prospects, and the role of generative AI (AIGC) in reshaping the digital world, delivered by Chinese professors and tech experts.

    They also visited top tech and innovation hubs in Shanghai and Chengdu, including SPSpace, Dunyu Internet Science and Technology, Shanghai Kerui Exhibition Technology, China Unicom (Chengdu) Limited, and Zhisheng Digital Technology Co. Ltd.

    As part of the cultural exchange, the Nigerian lawmakers toured historic and cultural sites such as the Bund, Yu Garden, the Huangpu River Night Cruise, and the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Dujiangyan.

    Speaking on the programme, Ogundoyin described the training as timely and transformative, stressing that emerging technologies like the metaverse and generative AI will redefine governance, education, communication, and public service delivery.

    He added that the exposure would catalyze digital policy innovation across Nigeria’s state legislatures.

    He commended CIFAL Shanghai for organizing such a rich and insightful programme and expressed optimism that the knowledge acquired would be domesticated and applied for national development.

    Some other members of the Nigerian delegation included the Director General of the Conference of Speakers, Mr. Busari Sarafadeen, and the Clerk of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Taiwo Muraina Akinola.

    The delegation has since returned to Nigeria, bringing back valuable insights on metaverse integration, digital innovation, and smart governance, which could shape the future of legislative operations and public administration in Nigeria.

    The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has convened a stakeholders engagement meetings with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across all strata in Ibarapa East Local Government Area.

    He said the meeting was aimed at reinforcing party unity, grassroots mobilization, and preparations ahead of future elections.

    Held in two sessions across separate venues in the constituency, the engagements brought together a wide array of party stakeholders including political functionaries, ward and local government executive members, top political leaders and grassroots party leaders in the area

     Speaking at the meetings, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin conveyed the message of Governor Seyi Makinde, emphasizing that the PDP remains one united family in Oyo State and particularly in Ibarapa East.

     He assured party faithful that there would be no division, no parallel congresses, no parallel lists, and no imposition of candidates in the build-up to the next political season in the Local Government.

     “The message from His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, is very clear. PDP is one. We are united in purpose and we will work together to win all upcoming elections. Candidates will emerge through consensus, not imposition”, he said.

    Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin harped on the urgent need for increased voter registration among eligible citizens in the constituency.

    “We must not joke with the ongoing voter registration. This is our future. Every vote will count, and every new voter strengthens our party’s chances,” the Speaker emphasized.

    Other chieftains who spoke at the engagements including Hon. Moses Ojoawo, a former Commissioner and current member of the Oyo State House of Assembly Service Commission who is the Chairman of the Stakeholders forum; Chief Adewale Atanda Alase, a member of the Oyo State Advisory Council; and others also stressed the urgent need for increased voter registration among eligible citizens in the constituency.

    Oyo Speaker visits Olubadan-designate

    The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, at his Ibadan residence.

    Ogundoyin’s visit followed the official confirmation and approval of Oba Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

    The Speaker described the Olubadan-designate as a man of grace and providence.

    Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin described the moment as one filled with “joy, pride, and reverence,” not just for the newly confirmed monarch but also for the enduring heritage and traditions of Ibadanland.

    “Today, I had the distinct honour of paying homage to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at his Ibadan residence, following the official announcement and approval of his ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

    “It was a moment filled with joy, pride, and reverence not just for Kabiyesi, but for the rich heritage and tradition he now embodies.
