    REA: Zamfara to convene roundtable on energy access

    As the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) advances its state-by-state strategic roundtables with sub-national entities, the agency is set to collaborate with the Zamfara state government to unlock energy access investments for social justice, strategic growth, and innovation through renewable energy.

    The focus of this Roundtable aligns with the State’s renewed commitment to advancing infrastructure development and sustainable growth under the leadership of the executive governor of the State, Dauda Lawal.

    Now a strategic platform for impactful collaborations in the nation’s electricity market, the Agency invites frontline stakeholders in the clean energy ecosystem to this important meeting, scheduled for July 2, 2025, in Abuja.

    Recall that some other states, such as Bauchi, Nasarawa, have attended the REA roundtable and taken advantage of the window to boost renewable access in their areas.

    As State Governments continue to develop strategic pathways in their respective electricity markets, while aligning with the tenets of the 2023 Electricity Act, the Zamfara State Government has advanced its efforts focused on renewable energy innovation and private sector investment.

    In a demonstration of the State’s commitment, Governor Lawal has further strengthened the Zamfara Electricity Agency (ZEA) and the Zamfara Geographic Information System (ZAGIS), serving as critical institutions signaling the State’s institutional readiness, ensuring seamless facilitation of investment opportunities, zero entry barriers and smoother processes for investors within the state’s power sector.

    Leaning on the strategic efforts of the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the REA’s State-by-State Strategic Roundtables continue to serve as a meeting point for collaborative partnerships between the public and private sectors, with REA playing a pivotal role as a facilitator.

    The Roundtable, initiated under the leadership of Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the MD/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency, is designed to explore data-driven strategies, business models and investment opportunities targeted at improving the States’ electricity market.

    REF interventions attract N5.8b private sector investment

    The Rural Electrification Fund (REF) of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) yesterday said its interventions have   attracted N5.8 billion private sector investments.

    REA Managing Director Engr Abba Aliyu disclosed this during the “REF Call 3 Grant Award Signing Ceremony and Access to Finance (A2F) Workshop in Abuja.

    Represented by the Executive Director, Corporate Service, Mr. Ayoade Adegboyega, he said the interventions culminated in the achievements of 16.6 megawatts (Mw) of renewable energy installed capacity and created over 26,000 jobs and averted 91,720 tons of CO2 emissions.

    “Beyond these numbers lie a deeper story of transformation—16.6 Mw of renewable energy capacity installed, over 26,000 jobs created, 91,720 tons of CO emissions avoided, and N5.8 billion in private sector investment attracted,” he said.

    The REA boss said collectively,  interventions enabled the deployment of 124 mini-grids, the installation of over 25,580 Solar Home Systems (SHS), and the empowerment of 18,013 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

    Aliyu noted that the interventions impacted 183 communities across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    Through REF Call 1, Call 2, and other flagship initiatives such as the Interconnected Mini-grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS), the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP), and the De-risking Sustainable Off-Grid Lighting Solutions (DSOLS), he said the agency consistently demonstrated the achievable imbuing bold vision with strategic execution.

    He said the commencement of REF Call 3 the agency’s mission went far beyond scaling capacities to about scaling impact and touching more lives.

    This next phase, he said: “is designed to deepen penetration into underserved areas, catalyze productive use of energy (PUE), and foster greater empowerment of MSMEs, women-led businesses, and agricultural value chains.”

    REA and about 39 Solar Home System (SHS) companies signed the agreements.

    In her overview of Rural Electrification Fund (REF) and its programs, Engr. Doris Uboh, emphasized sustainability of the REF projects.  She sought the adherence to the operational guidelines of REF.

    Uboh insisted the companies must ensure the success of the plants.

    She said:  “Not left behind, which is the most important factor, is the sustainability plan that comes with our projects.  For every project we do, every mini-grid, every solar home system, we ensure operational guidelines of REF departments.

    “Every mini-grid, every developer who has his footprint in REF will tell you that some have been on a particular mini-grid for over 5 years, some going to 10 years.

    “And the reason being, like I said, job creation and sustainability plan.vWe make sure that you are there, making sure the plant is being handled very well, if there is anything technically to be done to make sure that the plant does not fail.

    “The developer that builds the plant is tied to that, not only to ensure generation, transmission and distribution, but also to collect tariff.”

    125,000 people get 24/7 supply from REA 510kWp in Osun

    The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has successfully launched a 510kWp mini-grid system for a round the clock supply of energy to 125,000 households in the communities of Elegbejoda, Mefoworade, Olorunshogo, and Omifunfun in Ife South Local Government Area, Osun State.

    Implemented through the Interconnected Mini-Grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS), this initiative is part of a €9.3 million in-kind grant funded by the European Union (EU) and supported by the German Cooperation.

    The project aims to strengthen Nigeria’s interconnected mini-grid market and extend clean energy access to approximately 125,000 people.

     By delivering reliable and sustainable electricity, the initiative is expected to boost economic and social development in these communities.

    The commissioning event was attended by several notable figures, including the Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, represented by Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Festus Ademola, as well as Mr. Jochen Schindelarz, Deputy Consul General at the German Consulate General in Lagos, the Chairman of Ife South Local Government, the District Head, Community Heads, and the Deputy Ambassador of the German Cooperation in Nigeria and representatives from  community leadership.

    In his remarks, Adeleke acknowledged the significance of the project in enhancing the state’s socio-economic landscape and noted that access to sustainable electricity in these communities would create numerous opportunities for progress, particularly for small businesses and essential services.

    He said: “This mini-grid project is a landmark achievement for Osun State. It not only provides access to sustainable energy for the communities of Elegbejoda, Mefoworade, Olorunshogo, and Omifunfun but also opens doors to numerous opportunities for growth and development.

    “The Osun State government is committed to supporting further initiatives like this, as they work towards ensuring that every community in the state has access to reliable and affordable electricity.”

    He further assured residents of the state government’s commitment to fostering similar projects to achieve widespread energy access.

    Emphasizing the need for sustainability, Adeleke  encouraged community members to take ownership of the project by ensuring its proper maintenance and safeguarding the infrastructure.

    He urged local stakeholders to explore opportunities for expanding the project’s benefits, including supporting businesses that rely on steady electricity supply. He reaffirmed the state’s support for such renewable energy initiatives as part of the broader e-HEART initiative, which focuses on improving critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and agriculture through sustainable energy.

    Following the governor’s remarks, the Deputy Consul-General Lagos; Jochen Schindelarz shared a statement highlighting the significance of the project.

    The Deputy Consul-General emphasized the German Cooperation’s unwavering commitment to advancing clean and renewable energy in Nigeria.

     “This project represents a key milestone in our collaborative efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions. We are proud to partner with the Nigerian government and the Rural Electrification Agency to bring transformative change to rural communities. We hope that this project will inspire further investments in renewable energy solutions, contributing to a greener, more sustainable future for Nigeria,” he said.

    He underscored Germany’s dedication to fostering clean energy solutions and expressed optimism that the project would encourage further investments in the sector.

    The Managing Director/CEO of REA, Abba Aliyu, represented by the Director of the Rural Electrification Fund, Ngozi Chimdi-Ejiogu, extended appreciation to key partners, including the European Union, German Cooperation, and GIZ, for their support in making the IMAS initiative a reality. He praised the contributions of the Rural Electrification Fund Directorate, Project Lead Emecho Ted, and Havenhill Synergy Limited, the Project Developer, for their efforts in ensuring the seamless execution of the mini-grid.

    He stated:  “This project is about more than just infrastructure; it’s about empowerment.

    “With reliable energy, these communities can expand their economic activities, improve educational opportunities, and enhance healthcare services, ultimately raising the overall quality of life.”

    Havenhill Synergy Limited expressed pride in delivering the mini-grid system, which will ensure uninterrupted electricity for the benefiting communities.

    They emphasized the potential of renewable energy in driving social and economic progress. “We are honored to be involved in bringing sustainable energy solutions to the communities of Elegbejoda, Mefoworade, Olorunshogo, and Omifunfun which would ensure 24 hours electricity supply.

    Community leaders, including HRH Samson Adelabu Adeyeyi Lesiyekun I, the Asaboro Oba of Omifunfun, expressed their gratitude for the project. They reiterated their commitment to preserving the infrastructure and maximizing its benefits for community development. They named the mini-grid “Havenhill Solar Oba Adelabu Site.”

    Representatives from GIZ, including Country Director Mr. Benjamin Duke, also underscored the importance of partnerships in expanding Nigeria’s renewable energy landscape. He emphasized that collaborations between governments, development organizations, and local communities are essential in tackling energy access challenges and driving sustainable progress. He stated “This mini-grid is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when governments, development partners, and local communities work together to address energy access challenges. GIZ is committed to supporting such initiatives as we collectively strive for a sustainable and prosperous future.”

    Beyond residential energy access, the 510kWp mini-grid will support businesses, schools, and healthcare centers, providing a foundation for further socio-economic growth.

    REA reaffirmed its dedication to improving electricity access across Nigeria, particularly in underserved rural communities. By expanding renewable energy solutions like this mini-grid project, the agency aims to bridge the energy gap, alleviate poverty, and contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.

    The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) yesterday commissioned a 440kWp interconnected mini-grid in the communities of Etomi, Agbokim, Abia, and Bendeghe in Etung Local Government Area, Cross River State.  The initiative aims to accelerate the development of Nigeria’s interconnected mini-grid market and provide clean energy access to approximately 125,000 beneficiaries.

    The project, implemented under the Interconnected Mini-Grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS), is part of a €9.3 million in-kind grant initiative funded by the European Union and supported by the German Cooperation.

    The project will provide reliable, clean and sustainable energy to these underserved communities, significantly contributing to their socio-economic development.

    In his address, the Governor expressed his deep appreciation for the project, emphasizing its potential to transform the socio-economic landscape of the state.

     Otu stated: “This mini-grid project is a landmark achievement for Cross River State. It not only provides access to sustainable energy for the communities of Etomi, Agbokim, Abia, and Bendeghe but also opens doors to numerous opportunities for growth and development. The Cross River State Government is committed to supporting further initiatives like this, as we work towards ensuring that every community in the state has access to reliable and affordable electricity.”

    He tasked the benefiting communities to scale up this project by actively participating in its maintenance and management, ensuring its long-term sustainability. He emphasized the importance of community ownership, urging local leaders and residents to take responsibility for protecting the infrastructure and preventing any form of vandalism.

    He also encouraged the communities to explore innovative ways to expand the reach of the mini-grid, including the establishment of small businesses that can thrive with reliable power supply.

    By doing so, he believes that these communities can fully capitalize on the opportunities the mini-grid offers and become models of self-sufficiency and economic growth in the region.

    The Governor assured the residents that the state government would continue to support their efforts and work closely with the REA and other stakeholders to further enhance the project’s impact, with the ultimate goal of improving the overall quality of life for all residents.

    He also reaffirmed his commitment to the e-HEART initiative, which aims to leverage sustainable energy to improve vital sectors such as healthcare, education, and agriculture in rural areas. Prince Otu emphasized the importance of integrating the mini-grid project into the e-HEART framework and assured the communities of continued government support to expand energy access and drive long-term development in Cross River State.

    Meanwhile, the REA Managing Director/CEO of REA, represented by the Director of the Rural Electrification Fund, Ngozi Chimdi-Ejiogu, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making the project a reality. Special thanks were extended to the German Cooperation, European Union, and GIZ for their financial contributions to the development of the IMAS initiative. Additionally, the MD/CEO praised the efforts of the Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund Directorate, the Project Lead, and team members, Darway Coast Limited (the Project Developer), and the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) for ensuring seamless integration into the national grid.

    He said, “This project is not just about infrastructure; it’s about empowering the communities of Etomi, Agbokim, Abia, and Bendeghe with the transformative power of sustainable energy. This mini-grid will enhance local economic activities, support small businesses, improve education and healthcare services, and ultimately uplift the quality of life for the residents of these communities.”

    The mini-grid is a major step toward reducing reliance on harmful energy sources like kerosene, diesel, and firewood, offering a renewable energy solution to local households and businesses.

    Darway Coast Limited, the project developer, expressed their pride in being part of this transformative project: “We are honored to be involved in bringing sustainable energy solutions to the communities of Etomi, Agbokim, Abia, and Bendeghe.

    A representative from the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), Augustine Obinna, also shared their perspective on the project’s significance. “We are proud to have been part of this journey, ensuring the seamless integration of the mini-grid into the national grid,” said the PHEDC representative. “This project is a perfect example of how partnerships can drive progress. By collaborating with the Rural Electrification Agency, Darway Coast Limited, and other stakeholders, we have been able to provide a solution that not only supplies power but also empowers communities. This mini-grid will support local businesses, enhance education, and improve healthcare services, ultimately creating a brighter future for the residents of these areas.” He emphasized the need for community ownership and accountability to ensure sustainability.

    Local leaders and residents from the four benefiting communities, especially HRH Ntufm Raphael Ekuri Agbor, shared their gratitude and excitement about the project’s impact on their lives and emphasized the need for collective protection of the project equipment to eliminate darkness in the communities.

    Representatives from GIZ, including Eckhard Heine, also attended the event and offered remarks on the project’s significance. Mr. Heine emphasized the importance of partnerships in achieving renewable energy development, stating, “This mini-grid is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when governments, development partners, and local communities work together to address energy access challenges. GIZ is committed to supporting such initiatives as we collectively strive for a sustainable and prosperous future.”

    In addition to powering homes, the 440kWp mini-grid will energize local businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities, providing a foundation for greater economic and social development. The REA is also collaborating with the Cross River State government to explore further opportunities for decentralized energy solutions, including additional mini-grids and solar power systems, to expand energy access throughout the state.

    REA, Anfani sign MoU on renewable projects

    The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anfani Energy Limited to catalyze funding and technological innovation for the implementation of renewable energy projects in the next three years.

    The Federal Government has already provided $750million to attract $1.1billion funding from private investors for the projects.

    In his remarks at the MoU signing ceremony in Abuja, the Anfani, Managing Director, Mr. Ishaq Bolarinwa Anfani, said his firm is to bridge the gap of affordability and accessibility for renewable energy solutions.

    “We bridge the affordability and accessibility gap for renewable energy solutions in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa,” he said.

    Explaining his firm’s role in the MoU, he said it is about about the removal of constraints and catalyzing financing for the projects.

    His words, “It is about igniting dreams, empowering communities, and catalyzing growth from the ground up. That is what renewable electrification is all about.

     “Regarding the MOU, we are treating it as an opportunity free from constraints. Catalytic financing is one aspect we want to source.”

    He said the process and project improvement are vital as the stakeholders  embark on the project.

    He said as the firm focuses on technological innovation, it goes beyond building technology for communities to assessing and providing the suitable technology for them.

    “One thing we do is not build technology for communities; instead, we assess what the communities need and develop technology to suit them,” he said.

    Meanwhile, Nigerian Electrification Project (NEP), Head, Mr. Olufemi Akinyelure said the REA developed the Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs) strategy as part of its broader efforts to scale up improved energy access, particularly in underserved and off-grid rural areas and ensure sustainability of off-grid projects.

    He said the RESCO model plays a crucial role in the deployment and operation of off-grid electrification projects, specifically through public-private partnerships.

    The RESCO, according to him, is a central pillar of REA’s off-grid electrification efforts, ensuring that unserved, underserved and rural communities benefit from sustainable, affordable, and scalable renewable energy solutions.

    He added that in the light of Electricity Act (2023) giving states autonomy over their electricity market, the REA has initiated collaboration with state governments and RESCO’s to address potential bottlenecks and ensure structured and simplifies processes are in place towards achieving successful and sustainable project development.

    Akinyelure revealed that key elements of the RESCOs Strategy Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).

    The partnerships, he said, capitalize on the strengths of private investment, technical expertise, and operational capacity, while REA provides critical support through policy frameworks, financing mechanisms, and monitoring oversight.

    Continuing, he said, “This collaborative model ensures the long-term success of off-grid electrification projects.

    Innovative Payment Models

    “A core strength of the RESCO model is the introduction of flexible payment models typically the Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) system, making energy more accessible and affordable for low-income households and businesses. “This approach allows customers to pay in manageable installments while enjoying uninterrupted access to clean and reliable electricity. RESCOs are responsible for the entire lifecycle of the system, from installation to maintenance, ensuring a seamless experience for consumers.

    Sustainability and Scalability.  The RESCO model is designed to ensure the sustainability of rural electrification projects while promoting scalability.

    “It encourages renewable energy providers to scale up by investing in large portfolio projects with diverse business models, optimizing the organizations resource use and reducing service costs.

    “As a result, the RESCO model enhances access to energy in rural communities, providing reliable energy for millions of Nigerians and supporting the accelerated development of these regions.

    “Enhancing Local Developers through Improved Corporate Governance

    A key objective of the RESCO model is to equip local companies for commercial capital investment.

    “By strengthening their internal corporate governance, developers can make more informed investment decisions and foster a culture of corporate accountability and responsibility—essential elements for attracting corporate investments.”

    REA eyes 1,500MW in three years from renewables

    • Signs nine MoUs

    The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has said that it is targeting the generation of a 1,500MW portfolio from renewable energy in the next three years.

    The Federal Government has already provided $750 million for the agency to stimulate $ 1.1 billion from the private sector.

    Its Managing Director, Mr. Abba Aliyu, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Police Trust Fund (NPTF), National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) and Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOS) on the deployment of renewable energy based electrification solutions.

    He said, “In total, we are looking at close to 1,500MW of portfolio generation capacity across the country over a period of three years.

    “In monetary terms also the greatest achievement of Mr. President is the catalyzing of over $ 750 million and distributed along the renewable energies scale of funding that REA is managing. Now this $ 750 million is supposed to catalyse $1.1billion private sector investment.

    “What we are doing here is catalyzing that $1.1billion. $ 750 million will be used as capital sourcing to incentivize this private sector to put in their money ($1.1billion towards providing this electricity infrastructure in the country.”

    He explained that by virtue of the Electricity Act 2023, the REA is required to develop the National Electrification Strategy and Implementation Plan, which will serve as a means to coordinate the effort of all the sub nationals towards a common goal of achieving provided electricity access in the country.

    Aliyu said by virtue of that plan, the agency sees it necessary to also develop a sectoral-specific plan.

    He added that “So, we are going to also develop the National Education Electrification Plan.  We are going to also develop the National Agricultural Electrification Plan and the National Health Electrification Plan.

    “We also feel that it is also important for us to bring in the security aspect, the security sector of the Nigerian country into the plan.”

    The REA boss said this resulted in signing the MoUs that bring about the entire players of agriculture, the players in health, the Renewable Energy Service Company, as well as the Nigerian Immigration Service, and the Nigerian Police Trust Fund.

    EEP to deliver federal varsities phase one projects this year

    The Rural Electrification Agency has said that the planned Energizing Education Programme (EEP) which aims to provide dedicated and reliable electricity to Federal Varsities is on course for delivery in 2018, and is already part of the 2017 budget.

    The agency made this clarification in a rejoinder that it issued to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday. 

    The statement said reads: “Allegations that the MD/CEO made any statements to the contrary are patently untrue and are at best, a misunderstanding and at worst, a campaign to deny our federal universities the opportunity to access uninterrupted power.

    “Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi stated in fact that a majority of the Universities under the EEP are located in rural as well as underserved communities, hence the REA’s involvement.”

    The following milestones have been achieved indicating REA’s continued commitment to implementing the programme:

    The statement added that”

    1.  Approval by the Federal Executive Council.

    2. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Phase I university as follows: Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Bayero University Kano, Usumanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Nnamdi Azikwe University, Anambra, University of Lagos, Akoka, Federal University of Petroleum Resources Delta, Obafemi Awolowo University and Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital.

    3.  The inclusion of this project in the 2017 and proposed 2018 budget.

    4. No Objection to award contracts from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for the Phase I EEP projects has been obtained.

    5.  Approval from Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).”

    REA, varsities sign MoU for energizing education Programme

    The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with eight Federal Universities and one Teaching Hospital for the first phase of the Federal Government’s Energizing Education Programme.

    According to a statement from the management of REA on Thursday, the Federal Government in an effort to make uninterrupted electricity supply accessible to Nigerian students has initiated an energizing education programme that aims to provide uninterrupted power supply for 37 federal universities and seven teaching hospitals in Nigeria through the utilization of off-grid captive power plants.

    Speaking of the development, head of special projects, rural electrification agency Mrs. Anita Otubu, said that the federal government is keen on ensuring that its universities are able to measure up with their international counterparts and recognizes access to power as an essential commodity to achieve that.

    The first phase of the Programme will in include 9 institutions, and should be completed in 2018, benefiting over three hundred thousand students and staff. Seven of the nine planned power plants (10.5MW out of a total of 26.56MW) will be fueled by solar energy, in line with the federal government’s energy -mix policy.

    The eight (8) federal universities and one (1) teaching hospital that signed the MoU with REA include:
    Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Bayero University Kano, Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto, Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra, University of Lagos Akoka, Federal University of Petroleum Resources Delta, Obafemi Awolowo University, and Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Osun.

    The Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed said ” we must express our gratitude to the REA, the acting president and the honorable minister of power.

    According to the statement, the programme will also install street lighting to enhance security measures on campuses, develop and operate training centers for student training on renewable and eventually, extend this uninterrupted power to improve the quality of life and economic opportunities in the surrounding rural communities.

  • Agency to use renewable energy, rural electrification

    The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) says it will focus on renewable energy and off-the-grid solutions for rural electrification of Nigeria.

    The new Managing Director of REA, Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.

    “One of the first things we are going to do next week is to have the project team led by the ED (Executive Director) Technical identify the status of all the projects and come up with a proper master plan on how we can tackle them.

    “While also focusing on the new projects that the minister mentioned; the university project is a critical project for us.

    “Then the Hydro project he mentioned; and the small-scale solar project. That is not necessarily rural; it is also in urban centres.

    “So we really see ourselves as an access agency to get power to people who do not have it regardless of where they are; either in urban or the rural areas.

    “We are going to do it using a completely different variety of renewable energy technology and some off-the-grid solutions as well.’’

    Ogunbiyi said that the new management of REA was fully committed to achieving the mandate of the agency by providing power to the most vulnerable in the society.

    Buhari makes new appointments for FAAN, NCAA, NAMA, Rural Electrification Agency

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Engr. Saleh Dunoma as the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

    The President also confirmed the appointments of Captain Mukhtar Usman as the Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Captain Fola C. Akinkotu as the Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) respectively.

    A statement issued by the Director (Press), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Bolaji Adebiyi, said the appointments take immediate effect.

    President Buhari also approved the appointment of a new Board and Executive Management for Rural Electrification Agency.

    According to the statement, the Chairman of the Board is Engr. Umaru Maza Maza, while the Managing Director is Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi.

    Dr. Sanusi Mohammed Ohiare has been appointed as the Executive Director (Rural Electrification) and Engr. Muhammad A. Wasaram as Executive Director (Technical Services).

    Yewande Odia was named as the Executive Director (Corporate Services), while Engr. Alozie Mac and Mr. Rotimi Thomas are appointed non-Executive Directors.
