  • West Ham pip Arsenal 1-0

Declan Rice’s first goal for West Ham United earned his side a deserved first home victory over Arsenal for 13 years on Saturday.

The youngster’s 48th minute strike secured a 1-0 win at the London Stadium.

Arsenal began brightly and then had a flurry of chances after falling behind but West Ham were good value for the three points as they put a dent in Arsenal’s top-four hopes.

Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri, rebuilding his career at West Ham after a doping ban, was at the heart of much of West Ham’s best work on his Premier League debut for the club.

It was the Frenchman’s neat lay-off that allowed 19-year-old midfielder Rice the space to curl a superb shot past Bernd Leno.

Rice had headed wide in a first half in which West Ham took charge with Felipe Anderson drilling a shot fractionally wide of the post after another lay-off by Frenchman Nasri.

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette had a double chance early on and Matteo Guendouzi’s 25-metre effort flew just wide but Arsenal struggled to exert any sustained pressure.

Alex Iwobi shaved the post with a low shot but Arsenal failed to score for the first time in 21 Premier League matches.

The north London oitfit remain fifth on 41 points while West Ham move up to eighth on 31 points before the rest of the weekend fixtures.

Nasri’s lavish mansion sells for £5.75 million

The sprawling mansion of exiled Manchester City star Samir Nasri has been sold for £5.7million.

Nestled in the plush village of Alderley Edge in the Cheshire countryside the ‘unashamedly opulent’ eight-bedroom home even comes with its own nightclub.

Set on a 30-acre private plot, the home opens up into a marble entrance hall with a spiral staircase and floor to ceiling windows.

No footballer’s home would be complete without the obvious trappings of a millionaire’s pad and Nasri’s former property has quite a few ticked off, including a huge wine cellar, a cinema room and gym.

There are also five bathrooms, a study, playroom, and open plan kitchen, as well as a jacuzzi, steam room and a sauna.

After splashing out on their new lavish home, owners could save some cash on taxis to bars by partying the night away in their very own nightclub.

The room boasts a dance floor and bar, as well as a lounge area, with seating around a nine-metre pool for guests to relax.

Outside, the new owners will be able to enjoy their lavish 32-acre gardens and if they happen to own any horses then they are certainly in luck, with three stables and a track to take them for a ride.

There is more than enough space to relax, too, with a summer house, a number of plush terraces and even a private waterfall.

  • Championship League: Nasri to miss Zagreb clash

Sevilla midfielder Samir Nasri has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League fixture against Dinamo Zagreb.

Nasri, who arrived at the Sanchez Pizjuan on a season-long loan from Manchester City in the summer, picked up an injury during the 1-1 draw with Sporting Gijon at the weekend.

“Nasri suffered some muscular damage in his left biceps, an MRI scan has revealed. The player’s length of absence will be known once he undergoes further tests,” read a club statement.

The French international has enjoyed something of a renaissance in Andalusia after being frozen out at City by boss Pep Guardiola, notching three goals in nine appearances in all competitions, and has been praised for his performances under Jorge Sampaoli this season.

The 29-year-old may also be struggling to make the home game with Barcelona at the weekend and a more likely return date could be November 19 against Deportivo la Coruna.

Nasri hopes to end career at Manchester City

Samir Nasri hopes to end his career at Manchester City despite the club replacing the injury plagued midfielder with young striker Kelechi Iheanacho in their Champions League squad for the knockout rounds earlier this month.

The report said that Nasri was initially expected to miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury he picked up in October 2015, but the France international said last month that he hoped to return to action by the end of March.

“There are so many exciting things happening here. You never know what will happen in football, but it would be a pleasure to finish my career at City,” Nasri told the club’s website (www.mcfc.co.uk).

The former Arsenal man, who has scored one goal in eight appearances this season, said he was looking forward to rekindling his ‘special connection’ with midfield duo David Silva and Yaya Toure upon his return.

City, who have failed to win back-to-back Premier League games since October, have slipped to fourth in the table and will hope to get their title charge back on track when they host second-placed Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

ETIHAD STAY! Nasri begins City contract talks

SAMIR NASRI has revealed that he has begun talks with Manchester City over a new contract at the club.

The French midfielder signed for Manchester City from Arsenal in the summer of 2011 and wasted little time in winning his first Premier League title, scooping the trophy in his first season at the club.

Nasri was criticised for his performances by former manager Roberto Mancini last season, but has bounced back this term and is keen to extend his Etihad Stadium stay.

“We have just started talking”, he told Canal +.

“We have not agreed yet, but it will be sorted out.

    “I would like to stay.

“I feel that people appreciate me and the coach trusts me.”

Nasri has clocked up 32 appearances for Manchester City so far this season, scoring nine goals and providing eleven assists for his team-mates.

The 26-year-old has picked up one Premier League title, one League Cup and one Community Shield with the Citizens.
