    Sammy Ameobi joins Bolton on loan

    Newcastle forward Sammy Ameobi has joined English Ligue 1 side, Bolton Wanderers, on loan till January 2.

    Ameobi, 24, has fallen down the pecking order at Championship outfit Newcastle and spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, where he scored a goal in 36 appearances, africanFootball.com reports.

    He has also played on loan at Middlesbrough.

    Sammy last played for Newcastle in May 2015.

    The winger’s older brother, Shola spent three months at Bolton last season.

    Ameobi targets promotion with Cardiff

    Sammy Ameobi has said his ambition with Cardiff City is to secure promotion to the English Premier League.

    The winger expressed delight at making his debut for Cardiff City in Capital One cup game against AFC Wimbledon, which the Welsh side won 1-0, africanFootball.com reports.

    “I came down and saw the beautiful city and the great facilities here. It’s a Premier League club really, and it’s where the team is heading back,” he said.

    “Obviously the big thing for me is joining a club with ambition. Cardiff’s ambition is to get to the Premier League, and that’s what I’m here to help do, so hopefully I can help that dream.”

    He also spoke on his impressions from the match against AFC Wimbledon.

    “I really enjoyed it,” said the forward. “It was a tough game and the opponent is a very  competitive side. I think we had a bit of a slow start, but in the second half we pushed on and took control of the game, it was a good start for my season.”

    Ameobi said he wants more good results for Cardiff.

    Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi has joined Championship side Cardiff City on a season-long loan.

    The 23-year-old scored two goals in 27 games for the Magpies during the last campaign.

    Ameobi has struggled for regular first-team action at St James’ Park in recent years, with the majority of his appearances coming as a substitute.

    “We’re delighted to have Sammy on board, having hand-picked him specifically for his creativity and skill,” Cardiff CEO Ken Choo told the club’s official website.

    “Sammy has Premier League experience to the tune of more than 50 top-flight appearances. We will continue to search for the right players who have specific skill sets and good character.”

    Ameobi won five caps as an England Under-21 international between 2011 and 2013.

    Moyes WANTS Ameobi IN Spain

    Former Manchester United manager David Moyes is poised to sign Newcastle forward Sammy Ameobi when the transfer window reopens.

    According to the Telegraph of UK, Moyes is lining up a surprise move for the Nigeria-born England youth international to join him in Spanish club Real Sociedad.

    Ameobi’s current deal at St James’ Park expires at the end of this season and the 22-year-old forward is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

    Moyes is understood to have met Ameobi’s agent in Spain during the week and he is planning for the future by targeting young talent.

    The former Manchester United manager is operating on a tight budget and is scouting Europe for free transfers or cheap deals.

    Due to Ameobi’s age, Newcastle would be entitled to compensation but the figure is expected to be minimal.

    Newcastle, however, are keen to keep the former trainee and are believed to have opened talks over a new deal.

    Highly rated by Sociedad boss, David Moyes, the 22-year-old can sign a pre-contract with the La-Liga side prior to joining in the summer, but Newcastle will be entitled to compensation if the move does materialise, as he joined the Magpies at the age of nine.

    Despite having his best season so far for Newcastle, the club has been dithering in offering him a fresh deal and Moyes, who is also targeting Burnley Danny Ings who is in a similar situation like Ameobi, is known to be a big admirer of the former Nigeria Under-20 invitee.

    Newcastle United is set to begin talks with Anglo – Nigerian striker, Sammy Ameobi, over the extension of his contract in the coming weeks.

    Reports say the 22 – year – old could be rewarded with a fresh deal following his imperious displays for the Toon this season, especially in the Premier League.

    The ex Flying Eagles trainee has recorded 11 appearances in the topflight in the 2014 – 2015 campaign, scoring once in the process, against Tottenham Hotspur in October, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

    The younger Ameobi has played nonstop at Newcastle United for the past six years, apart from a brief loan stint with Middlesbrough last season.

    His current deal with Newcastle United expires on June 30, 2015.

    Newcastle United winger, Sammy Ameobi, said he is currently playing for his future at St. James’ Park.

    The 22-year-old has been a vital player for Alan Pardew’s side in recent weeks, which has seen the Magpies secure four straight wins and rise to eighth on the English Premier League table, Sl10.ng reports.

    And Ameobi, who is keen on playing for the Super Eagles, has been delighted with amount of game time he’s had.

    “It’s been a great few weeks, I’m really happy that I’m getting to play. Hopefully, I can kick on from here,” sl10.ng quoted the Nigerian winger as saying to Shields Gazette.

    “I’m playing for my career, a contract. I’m just working week in, week out.”

    Hopefully, I can play against QPR and put in a good performance against them. We’ll see how it goes.”

    Shola Ameobi’s younger brother backs him to ‘break duck’

    Newcastle United youngster, Sammy Ameobi has thrown his weight behind big brother Shola Ameobi to soon end his goal drought in the English Premier League.

    MTNFootball.com reports that the Nigeria international striker’s only goal this season was against Morecambe in the Capital One Cup.

    Ameobi – who has been keeping Papiss Demba Cisse out of the starting XI in recent weeks – has ably supported leading scorer Loic Remy up front.

    But the long-serving player has admitted to “frustration” at his lack of goals.

    And his younger brother Sammy – who is patiently waiting for his chance – doesn’t think it will be long before the Nigeria international is among the goals.

    “Everyone here knows he’s a top professional,” Sammy said.

    “He’s going to keep striving. He’s playing well at the moment. I’m very proud of him.

    “Hopefully, he can get some goals into his game.”

    Sixth-placed Newcastle, held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton at the weekend, face third-from-bottom Crystal Palace on Saturday.

    The Palace has won two home games under new manager Tony Pulis, and Ameobi Jnr is adamant that there will be no complacency in the United dressing room at Selhurst Park.

    “We’re not going to under-estimate anyone,” said the 21-year-old.

    “Hopefully, we can go and get some good results leading up to Christmas.”

    Ameobi makes England squad again

    Despite the change in guard in the leadership of the England U21 team, Nigerian-born English striker Sammy Ameobi has been invited again for the Young Lions Euro qualifying double-header against San Marino and Lithuania.

    Ameobi was one of the 24 players invited by new manager Gareth Southgate who opted for an attacking group of players as England look to take control of their qualifying group.

    There is a return to the squad for Tom Ince, after injury ruled him out of this season’s previous games with Scotland, Moldova and Finland, along with Raheem Sterling, who figured against Scotland in August and was on senior duty for September’s games.

    West Ham United’s Ravel Morrison is also back in an England squad with his first Under-21 call-up after previously being capped at U16, U17 and U18 level.

    According to information on the England FA official website, Ameobi and other invited players are meet up at St. George’s Park on Sunday evening and will train there until Wednesday, when they travel to San Marino for Thursday’s game.

    It’s then straight back to England and the south-east to continue preparations for the game at Portman Road against Lithuania the following Tuesday.
