20-year-old Samod Gbadamosi needs N6million to undergo a hip replacement surgery to get back on his feet and resume his electrician apprenticeship training.
Despite his struggles with the sickle cell anemia, Samod had faced life’s challenges bravely until a recent fall confined him to a bed, making him dependent on his siblings for the simplest of tasks.
Medical assessments revealed that “The right hip joint shows sclerosis, irregularity, and cystic changes of both the femoral head and the acetabular margin consistent with avascular necrosis. No fracture or dislocation is seen. Finding: Avascular necrosis of the hip joint.”

Consequently, doctors say the “serious condition requires major surgery, which comes with a staggering cost of about N6 million.”
According to Samod’s sister, Khadijat, everything took a turn for the worse after he tripped while walking. Though they rushed to provide first aid, it offered only temporary relief from the pain and uncertainty that followed.
“The hospital we went to referred us to The National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos (NOHIL), where they told us that he would need a hip replacement,” Khadijat said.
“I’m appealing to Nigerians to help in raising funds for the surgery so that he can return to school as soon as possible.”
