100 youths to benefit from Pulseford scholarships in 2026

Pulseford Business School has announced that 100 young Nigerians enrolling in its January 2026 academic session will receive a 50 per cent tuition scholarship in a fresh push to equip youth with practical skills for today’s digital economy.

The Chief Executive Officer of the institution, Iking Ferry, said the application window closes on December 20, 2025, noting that available slots are limited.

He urged interested applicants to seize the opportunity, describing the scheme as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce.

“Pulseford Business School is reputed for its immersive, hands-on learning model, which departs from traditional classroom teaching. The institution offers practical, industry-led training across business, digital marketing, financial literacy and other emerging fields that provide students with job-ready competencies,” he said.

Its Sales Director, Desmond Hudal, described the scholarship initiative as “a timely and impactful contribution to the development of Nigeria’s next generation of digital and financial professionals.”

According to him, the programme reflects the school’s commitment to giving young Nigerians access to resources that can shape their long-term economic prospects.

“The scholarship covers half of the tuition fee for selected candidates and includes training in Digital Marketing and AI Mastery, Financial Literacy and Wealth Building, as well as Stock Market Investment for Beginners,” he said.

He added that by easing financial constraints, the initiative aims to empower beneficiaries with essential skills needed to thrive in an increasingly digital and entrepreneurial economy.

He said it also aligns with ongoing efforts to build a technologically savvy and financially informed youth population capable of navigating today’s evolving business landscape.

Balami, Zulum meet in Maiduguri, announce scholarships for Borno youths

The Founder of the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM), Comrade Isaac Balami, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, at the Government House in Maiduguri, where both parties announced new scholarship opportunities for youths in the state.

Balami, who described the visit as a “homecoming,” said he returned to brief the Governor on the progress of IBUAM and explore ways the institution could impact young people in Borno.

He was accompanied by the university’s Vice Chancellor, board members, friends, and partners.

Speaking after the meeting, Balami said the engagement with Governor Zulum was “deeply personal,” recalling how a scholarship from the Borno State Government years ago opened doors that shaped his career in aviation.

“This visit wasn’t just official; it was personal. I returned as a son of the land with a mission shaped by memory and conviction,” Balami said. “Education changed my life, and I am driven by the responsibility to extend that same lifeline to others.”

Balami also announced fresh scholarships for indigent youths, pledging that at least 54 young people from Borno would be sponsored to study at IBUAM.

He commended Governor Zulum for what he described as sincere discussions about the future of Borno youths, saying the governor demonstrated genuine commitment to supporting young people with high potential but limited resources.

Zulum, in what many residents described as a remarkable response, also approved immediate scholarship slots for 54 indigent youths to undertake degree programmes in piloting, aeronautical engineering, and related fields at the university.

Also in a statement on X and Facebook, the Governor applauded Balami’s vision and assured him of the State Government’s full cooperation.

The Governor also announced an immediate state-sponsored scholarship scheme for qualified youths to pursue degree programmes in piloting, aeronautical engineering, and related fields at IBUAM.

“The selection process will prioritise indigent youths who demonstrate academic potential but lack the financial means to pursue such expensive programmes,” Zulum said.

He directed the Commissioner for Education and the Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board to work directly with IBUAM to begin the selection and placement of candidates. He also warned against political interference in the process.

“I don’t want anyone close to the governor, the deputy governor, or commissioners selected. The process should be purely on merit, and I will personally vet the final list,” the governor added.

While thanking president Tinubu for approving a university instituted by his own “son”, the governor said the president has displayed his love for the nation by approving a university that will benefit all, especially young people.

Both the State Government and IBUAM say the partnership will help build a new generation of aircraft engineers, pilots, and aviation technicians from Borno State.

    Filmmaker breaks barriers with scholarships

Opeyemi Akeem Megida, a young filmmaker from Ejinrin, Epe, Lagos State, is fast becoming a rising voice in Nigeria’s film industry after benefiting from two major scholarships that helped transform his childhood passion for storytelling into a professional career.

In 2022, Megida won a scholarship from the Lagos State Government to study Digital Filmmaking at the Del-York Creative Academy.

Two years later, he was selected by the Mastercard YAPPI (Young Africa Professionals and Innovators) programme, for a course in Post-Production at the same institution.

“These scholarships changed everything for me,” Megida said. “They gave me access to professional training and helped me believe that I belong in this industry, even though I didn’t start with any formal film education.”

Before these life-changing opportunities, Megida had taught himself the basics of filmmaking by moving from one production set to another, attending free seminars, and volunteering on projects, often for no pay.

“I started from the street level,” he said. “I learned editing just so I could understand what happens behind the scenes. I didn’t have money for film school, but I had passion and curiosity.”

Megida’s journey has been anything but smooth. After completing secondary school at Government College, Ketu-Epe, financial difficulties prevented him from continuing his education immediately. Undeterred, he decided to learn a skill.

“I wanted something that allowed me to tell stories and entertain people,” he said. “Filmmaking was the perfect path for me.”

His interest in film began at an early age. “As a child, I would perform the Egungun dance for my aunt whenever she visited. I loved entertaining people,” he recalled. “Later, I became fascinated by the effects in home videos. I would sit and wonder: how did they do that?”

Now armed with formal training and practical experience, Megida has set his sights on building a meaningful career that balances creativity with commercial viability.

“As a director, you want to bring a creative vision to life. But to be an executive producer, you also need capital. Some directors even take loans to fund their projects,” he noted. “So it’s important to make stories that are not just beautiful but also marketable, stories people will want to invest in.”

To strengthen his understanding of public service and leadership, key themes in his films, Megida enrolled in the National Diploma programme in Public Administration at The Polytechnic Ibadan.

“I believe that understanding how society works helps you tell better stories,” he said.

He is especially drawn to issues affecting Nigerian youths, including drug abuse, cybercrime, and economic hardship, and believes film can help change the narrative.

“We can’t ignore the problems facing young people today. But I also want to show the richness of our culture, our values, and our resilience,” Megida said. “There are so many untold stories in Nigeria, stories that can shape minds and inspire change.”

The young filmmaker credits industry veterans like Tunde Kelani, Abbey Lanre, Adebayo Tijani, Emem Isong, Kunle Afolayan, and Kemi Adetiba as major influences.

Looking ahead, Megida said he is committed to telling impactful stories that reflect the Nigerian experience.

“I won’t be distracted from telling stories that matter,” he said. “I want to create films that make people think, feel, and act, stories that celebrate who we truly are as Africans.”

With his eyes set on directing, producing, and ultimately building his own studio, Megida says his journey is just beginning.

“I believe in myself,” he said with quiet conviction. “And I believe the world will soon see what I’m capable of.”

The deputy president of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, through his foundation, the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), has opened applications for postgraduate foreign scholarships in Artificial Intelligence, Forensic and Robotics Sciences.

The Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.

The foundation according to the statement was established to provide humanitarian, educational and empowerment across the country.

Mudashir quoted the Secretary of the Scholarship Committee of the BIJF, Dr. Maikudi Lawan, to have said that the three fields were selected to provide specialised skills to the citizens.

He said the scholarship programme was conceived to promote academic excellence and support deserving individuals from the Kano North Senatorial District.

He said the applicants are to select from three programmes: M.Tech. (Information Security & Cyber Forensic),
M.Tech. (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) and M.Tech. (Robotics Sciences).

He said the foundation restricted the scholarship programme to the three fields as part of efforts to contribute towards the country’s technological advancement.
