    17 states yet to domesticate SDG goals, five years into deadline

    Presidential Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has warned that Nigeria risks missing the 2030 targets unless states move from policy talk to measurable action.

    Speaking at a roundtable with SDG focal persons in Abuja, she said the remaining five years demand “greater coordination, innovation, and subnational ownership,” noting that 17 states have yet to integrate the goals into their governance frameworks.

    “This is a national agenda, not just federal or state. Every tier must work together,” she said, urging states to mobilise domestic resources, cut reliance on aid, and ensure transparent spending.

    Edo’s Julius Okunbor and Abia’s Kenechukwu Nwosu outlined progress in implementation and grassroots engagement.
