Dokpesi congratulates new PDP Chairman Secondus

Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of Daar Communication, who contested the PDP National Chairmanship position and lost, has congratulated the winner, Prince Uche Secondus.

Dokpesi, who had earlier faulted the process of the party’s National Convention held in Abuja on Saturday, declared that “the delegates have spoken”.

“Ì appreciate the delegates for voting at the convention and congratulate the newly elected National Working Committee of the PDP led by Secondus.

“You will recall that I said that the PDP must be the ultimate winner at the end of the contest.

“God bless the Peoples Democratic Party. Congratulations PDP as I wish all our members the best of luck,” Dokpesi said.

Meanwhile, the newly elected National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has pledged that the party, under his watch, would adhere strictly to internal democracy with a deliberate policy to return ‘real’ power to the people.

Secondus, who got 2,000 votes out of the 2,396 votes cast, in his acceptance speech on Sunday in Abuja, declared that the era of imposition and impunity was over.

“With your mandate, I assure you that all necessary steps will be taken to avoid a repeat of our past mistakes.

“We have to lean from our mistakes; by this convention, we are now set to forge a new path for our great party and Nigeria.

“Under my watch, internal democracy will be strictly adhered to with a deliberate policy to return ‘real’ power to the people. No more imposition, no more impunity.

“Every member of this party can, from this moment, consider him or herself, an equal shareholder in our common destiny,” he assured.

He called on all Nigerians to embrace the new PDP and join its quest for a new Nigeria.

He also called on old PDP members, who, for one reason or the other, left the party, to please come back ‘home’.

Secondus called for the support of his co-contestants, especially the chairmanship aspirants, saying that they were all eminently qualified to lead the party.

“I thank you for a worthy contest and for being part of history because this marks the first time a stiff contest of this magnitude is taking place toward producing the leadership of a political party in Nigeria.

“You have every cause to stand tall and I now extend my hand of fellowship to you all. Let us rebuild, re-position and regain.”

Secondus said that he was aware that the mandate given to him was to return PDP to power in 2019, and declared that the task was “herculean but achievable.”

” My campaign pillars for this election are to rebuild, re-position and regain. By the grace of God and with all hands on deck, the brief tenancy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aso Rock Villa expires on May 28, 2019.”

He said that PDP’s contributions to the growth and sustenance of democracy of Nigeria in the last 18 years were still there for all to see, adding that the best best way to celebrate the memories of the party’s founding fathers was to engage their ideals.

Secondus commended the party members for offering him the opportunity to serve, and also lauded the courage of the outgoing National Caretaker Committee led by Sen. Ahmed Makarfi. (NAN)

  • S/East PDP endorses Secondus

The Southeast caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday adopted Prince Uche Secondus as its candidate for chairmanship of the party in today’s national convention.

The party’s National Vice Chairman for the zone, Mr. Austin Umahi, who announced the decision in Abuja on Friday, said the caucus settled for Secondus after due consultations.

He said: “We are very conscious of the personality of who becomes the national chairman of our great party for the next four years. Based on the foregoing, we have unanimously in our today’s stakeholders meeting here in Abuja decided that we will back an aspirant that has character and content.

“In this circumstance, and without prejudice to the right of other aspirants to this national chairmanship position, credible and transparent election, we have decided to back and vote for Prince Uche Secondus for the position of national chairman of our great party.

“We have also agreed to vote the following positions zoned to the Southeast: Col Austin Akobundu for national organising secretary; Hon Ude Okoye for youth Leader; Alphonsos  Gerald (Deputy financial secretary).”

Among those who attended the meeting were attended by Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara; members of the National Assembly from the zone, among other party leaders.

    Rivers PDP endorses Secondus

Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed Prince Uche Secondus, as its candidate for the national chairmanship position of the party.

They also dismissed the rumour of possible imposition of candidate on the delegates.

State party Chairman Felix Obuah said in a statement that  Secondus is a founding member of the party with the capacity to take the party to greater heights.

He said: “Here, in the whole of the Southern part, we are to produce the national chairman.  He is no other person than our own, Prince Uche Secondus.

  • My chairmanship will be inclusive, says Secondus

My chairmanship will be inclusive, says Secondus

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairmanship aspirant Chief Uche Secondus yesterday promised to provide an all-inclusive leadership, if elected at the convention.

He told  other aspirants that they would be carried along as leaders who have positive contributions to make in the post-convention period, adding that they have nothing to fear.

Secondus spoke in a statement by his media aide, Bisi Ezekiel, in Jalingo, capital of Taraba State.

He described himself as the best man for the job, advising other aspirants to team up with him at the convention.

Secondus promised to promote the party’s collective interest and involve the stakeholders in running the party to actualise its bid for federal power in 2019.

“Those spreading rumours about what the party will look like under my leadership are mere blackmailers. I have occupied that chair before and our records of glowing performance speak for us. We performed creditably in all capacities we have been privileged to serve.

Secondus promised to be a team player and harmonise the interests of the six zones before taking critical decisions.

He said: “I am a team player right from the beginning of my political career. Winning as a political party demands a team playing attitude. I not only know this but I have practised it all along as a political leader.

“Those spreading falsehood are scared of their shadows. I am running on my records as a leader with achievements to showcase .There is no doubt I am the best man for the PDP leadership.”

  • Why PDP governors are backing Secondus

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have resolved to mobilise delegates to the national convention to vote for one of the chairmanship aspirants, Chief Uche Secondus.

The governors, according to sources, rejected pleas by some party elders to desist from endorsing a particular aspirant, saying that the elders also have their own agenda.

Although three governors-Ahmed Dankwambo (Gombe), Dairus Ishaku (Taraba) and Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa)-initially dragged their feet before embracing the agenda of the PDP Governors’ Forum, they were later persuaded by their colleagues to avoid creating the impression that there is a crack on the wall.

The source, a PDP chieftain from the Southsouth, said the governors insisted on Secondus because they believed that he will not pose a threat to the forum.

He added: “The governors are now on the same page. Their argument is that when the party was in deep mess, which some of them created, they were resolute. They lived up to expectation as party financiers. The bulk of the money used for the litigation against Modu Sheriff was supplied by the governors.

“Also, the governors have been rendering assistance to chieftains of the party in those states controlled by the APC governors. They believe that he who pays the piper should dictate the tune.

“Even, as the party is preparing for the convention in Abuja, the National Caretaker Committee, led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, relies on the governors for money and other logistics. They want a chairman who will not give them problem during nominations in 2019. They are trying to protect their vested interests.”

According to the source, “only Secondus who they know well as former deputy national chairman and acting chairman is on the same page with them”.

He added: “They are thinking about presidential nomination too and the party chairman is always powerful during elections. They suspect that they may not have their way if somebody like Bode George is chairman. He is a soldier who cannot be intimidated. They also know that someone like Ladoja will not rely on them personally for finance. He was a governor and he knows the tricks of governors. The governors see Otunba Gbenga Daniel as a person just returning to the party again.

“To them, Adeniran is too holy and may not permit impunity. Also, they don’t take Chief Dokpesi seriously because, in their view, he is floating.”

Southsouth Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders yesterday vowed to fight to the death for the party’s chairman.

The zone’s governors and leaders said they would attend Saturday’s  national convention as a united front. They are backing former Interim Chairman Uche Secondus for the coveted seat.

Their stand has paved the way for a major crisis, with Southwest aspirants warming up to fight for the seat.

The party chiefs spoke at the PDP Zonal Congress hosted in Port Harcourt by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Besides Secondus and Chief Raymond Dokpesi, all other chairmanship aspirants are from the Southwest, which is seeking the micro zoning of the position to the region, being the only one yet to produce a chairman since the PDP was founded in 1998

One of the Southsouth leaders and one-time Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi, said the PDP could not “afford to allow the Southwest produce the chairman because it is prone to crises.” He did not elaborate.

Senate Minority Leader Senator Godswill Akpabio said for the stability of the PDP, it was necessary for the chairman to come from the Southsouth.

“It is important we stabilise the PDP. That is why we need a chairman of PDP from the Southsouth, “ he said.

Wike said the PDP was existing because of the “investment and commitment” of its Southsouth members and leaders.

He urged PDP members from other zones to extend their gratitude to leaders and members of the PDP from the Southsouth for  their commitment to the party’s survival.

He added: “If PDP leaders and members from the Southsouth are not committed, there wouldn’t have been PDP today.

”It is important that PDP members from other zones of the country congratulate Southsouth PDP members for their steadfastness at a time PDP was in crisis “.

He urged PDP members from the Southsouth to remain resolute in their support for the party.

”We are going as a family and we will continue to work as a family.  We will not allow any external force to divide the Southsouth.  We will continue to be together, “ Wike said.

Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson said: “We are in very trying times. We are in opposition, facing a very fierce and ruthless government at the Federal level. This is a time the governors need your support.”

National Vice Chairman (Southsouth), Mr. Emmanuel Ogidi said that the Southsouth would work with other zones to strengthen the party.

  • I’m most qualified to lead PDP, says Secondus

I’m most qualified to lead PDP, says Secondus

Foremost chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus has declared himself the most qualified to lead the party.

A statement by Bisi Ezekiel of his Media office quoted Secondus as saying he had the courage, experience and determination to reposition the party for victory in the 2019 election.

He also flaunted his records as a party leader and activist and dared other aspirants to tell the party what political battles they had won and what political school they passed out from.

“We have passed through political hell in the hands of the opposition. We are not scared of them. We are ready to lead our party to victory. How many of my colleagues aspirants can lay claim to our records and courage in the face of political persecution?

“In 2019, the race is for the compassionately tough as the ruling party will go after our party. We need a leader of my records and background for total victory. We are not lily livered politicians. We have faced political fire and we have survived. They attack us because they know we are the leading contender and I challenge them to compare their records with my own”, the statement quoted him as saying.

He also accused other aspirants of running a campaign of falsehood and character assassination, insisting that with a solid home base and regional support alongside wide network of friends,  ”I have the credential and the antecedents to take our party to Aso Rock.

“My accusers are scared of me and party delegates know why they are. They attack me severally because they don’t have my records. I have been the chairman before and I know what it takes to reposition the party.

“We are not worried about the gang up as we have reached out to all delegates. They know my capacity, they know my plans and they know we are the winning camp. We premise our campaign on merit, not ethnicity and religious sentiments’, the statement noted.

The aspirant said the “PDP needs  leaders who have taken and are still willing to take political bullet for the party; leaders who have refused to be intimidated and are still tackling intimidation from oppressive federal officials; and  leaders who have sworn to symbolically die for the party to make it regain power come 2019.

“Who is more qualified to lead the opposition to the next electoral battle than a graduate of a political war front with winning records?  For the PDP to make it to power, leaders who have faced and survived baptism of political fire must lead it. To most delegates, winning and returning to power in 2019 is the focus and they are in for a leader with the courage and the tenacious determination for victory”

  • Convention: PDP leaders mount pressure on Wike to dump Secondus

Convention: PDP leaders mount pressure on Wike to dump Secondus

Some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) and other stakeholders within and outside the opposition party, want  Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to switch  off his  support for Prince Uche Secondus, a  frontline contestant for the position of the national chairman of the party.

Secondus, a former acting national chairman of the PDP, like Wike, is from Rivers State.

It was learnt that the position of the PDP leaders, most of whom are members of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), as well as former political office holders in previous PDP administrations at the federal level, was conveyed to the Rivers State governor through some of his allies within the party who have been busy in the last few weeks trying to explain Wike’s roles in the build up to the party’s December convention.

Party leaders, according to reliable sources, are of the opinion that the national chairmanship should be conceded to the Southwest in the interest of party unity and cohesion.

“It is on the strength of this that some of our leaders have been appealing to the Governor to dump Secondus and support the Southwest’s bid to produce the national chairman,” a source told The Nation.

It was gathered that two groups of PDP leaders reached out to the Governor during the week while a former President also urged him to consider withdrawing his support for Secondus in the interest of the party.

The source said:”Following concerns over what could happen to the PDP after the convention if the Southwest is denied the national chairmanship, party stakeholders resolved to put their differences aside and reach out to all the gladiators in the ongoing politics of zoning with a view to appealing to them all to put the party first. One person that the leaders are currently mounting pressure on is Governor Nyesom Wike.

“It is strongly believed that his alleged support for Secondus is the major hindrance to the resolution of the current impasse. And following denials by both the national chairman of the caretaker committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, that they are not favouring Secondus, Wike, who has never denied supporting Secondus, is seen as the man to appeal to.

“Some party chieftains from across the country have reached out to him. More people, even from outside the party, are also talking to him on the need for him to support the Southwest in producing the next national chairman. While it is not certain if he will agree, talks are still on and the events of the next few days will point to the direction the Governor is willing to go,” a PDP BoT member told The Nation on at the weekend.

The Nation gathered that while many of the leaders and stakeholders are appreciative of the efforts and sacrifices of both Wike and Secondus in keeping the party together, especially during the trying periods, there is a strong belief among chieftains of the PDP that the loss of the national chairmanship by the Southwest at the convention is capable of igniting a fresh crisis in the party.

Based on what many of the concerned chieftains are describing as the realities of the current era, permutations are that the PDP needs the Southwest in its fold in its quest to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in  the 2019 presidential election, and as such, everything must be done to keep the zone happy and committed to the party till then.

A top source in the PDP said; “Secondus is a great guy. He is eminently qualified to lead the party at a time like this. But the realities of our situation suggest that we consider the Southwest for the position if we are to go to the 2019 presidential election as a united, virile and formidable political party. That informs the appeal to Governor Wike to reconsider his choice of candidate.

“Governor Wike, Secondus and others in that camp are being appealed to. They are reputable statesmen and dependable party men and women. We have resolved to seek an amicable resolution of the logjam before the convention date. That is why party leaders and other statesmen are talking to all those involved in the current zoning issue. We are more optimistic than we were two weeks ago as the talks continue.”

  • Northern PDP leaders split over Adeniran, Secondus

Northern PDP leaders split over Adeniran, Secondus

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is enmeshed in confusion with cracks among party stakeholders in the North over plot by some party elders to micro-zone the chairmanship slot to the South West.

The party’s Caretaker Committe and the National Executive Committee (NEC) had already said the position should be open to interested aspirants from all parts of the South.

Crisis erupted in Abuja yesterday after a group led by a former Information Minister, Prof Jerry Gana, issued a communique declaring that party stakeholders in the North had micro-zoned the position to the South West.

But in a counter move, another group, led by Mallam Sani Kutigi disagreed with the Gana group, describing the declaration by the Gana group as “obnoxious and objectionable” plot to rail-road the region into illegality.

The Gana group, at a meeting convened under the aegis of Northern Elders and Leaders Forum, had issued a communique after a marathon meeting that ended in the wee hours of yesterday, declaring that the chairmanship slot had been micro-zoned to the South West geo-political zone.

The communique, dated December 1, 2017 and signed by a former Education Minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and Mrs. Margaret Icheen, stated that the North had unanimously agreed to the micro-zoning of the slot and urged delegates from the region to vote for only chairmanship candidates from the South West.

The communique stated: “As we head to the national convention, the forum showed keen interest on the position of the National Chairman.

“The forum received reports from the three geo-political zones of the region, regarding the micro-zoning of positions zoned to them, in line with the spirit of rotation.

“The forum resolved that capable and competent aspirants should be identified and supported.

“After extensive deliberations, it was resolved that in the spirit of fairness, equity, carrying every part of the country along, giving every geo-political zone a sense of participation and inclusion in the affairs of the PDP, we strongly support the quest of the Southwest geo-political zone to produce the next National Chairman of the party.

“In line with our resolve to rebuild and reposition the PDP, we urge delegates from all the Northern states to abide by this decision and vote for only aspirants from the Southwest geo-political zone in the forthcoming national convention, in the best interest of the party.

“This is without prejudice to the right of aspirants from other geo-political zones to contest.”

The Gana group is loyal to one of the chairmanship aspirants from the South West, Prof Tunde Adeniran, while the Kutigi group is loyal to an aspirant from the South South, Prince Uche Secondus.

At a media briefing in Abuja yesterday, members of the Kutigi group, who also attended the meeting, accused Shekarau, Gana and others of betraying a mutual agreement not to micro-zone the position.

According to Kutigi, Gana and his group lacked the authority to speak for the North on the matter, describing their action as an insult and a slap on the face of party members from the South.

Kutigi said the declaration by Gana and his group portended grave consequences for the unity of the PDP if left unchallenged.

Kutigi said: “This group of people lacks any authority or voice to speak on behalf of the North as a homogeneous entity and is therefore on its own. Their action is hereby rejected and totally condemned.

“Majority of members from the North dissociate themselves from this misadventure which potents unintended consequences if left unchallenged.

“It is a slap on the face and an insult on the face of Southern Nigerian politicians/leaders that a few members from the North can sit down and determine who to elect.

“While rejecting micro-zoning, we affirm our belief in the sanctity of the larger, more inclusive arrangement which gave Southern Nigeria the position of National Chairman of our great party.

“Party members from the North pledge to support only a free and fair process where a new National Chairman will emerge regardless of which place he comes from, so long as he is from any of the states that make up Southern Nigeria.

“This decision is to forestall a situation where the action under scrutiny is used to deny certain section a shot at the offices as currently zoned through a dubious and undemocratic means of micro-zoning.

“Finally, if the party must reinvent itself as the true vanguard of democracy in Nigeria, it should not allow certain elements to hijack and abuse due process in the upcoming national convention, as this will only amount to going back to an inglorious past that we’ll rather forget.”

  • Secondus: I’ll take PDP to victory in 2019

In this interview with EMMANUEL OLADESU, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairmanship aspirant Chief Uche Secondus says the opposition party will bounce back to power under his leadership, if elected at the national convention in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on December 9.

Before the Port Harcourt convention, you were eyeing the Deputy Chairman of the party. Suddenly, you are now eyeing the chairmanship. What has changed between then and now?

The truth is that by last year, I was gunning for the deputy. The arrangement was such that somebody from the South west will emerge as the chairman. That time, we had two and a half years to the general election. But now, we believe that we don’t have time. Therefore, we need an experienced person who knows that from the first day he will just start working.

The second reason is that, relatively, you need a zone where there may not be crisis and I believe that in my state and in my zone, we don’t have crisis within the party, unlike in other zones where they have some issues. I don’t want to go into details. These are some of the reasons I am volunteering myself for the position.

I have been in this party from day one. In fact, I can lay claim that I am also a foundation member of the party: I am well known. You will recall that, in 2015, for the first time in the history of this country, a civilian to civilian transition took place and it was peaceful. So, we are going into another phase that is very crucial within one year. So, we need an experienced person and I believe I can pride myself among all the aspirants as the most experienced.

Among those running from the Southwest, we have those who have been at the top level of the party before too. Are you saying they are not experienced?

Yes, we may have somebody who has been deputy chairman there. The advantage I have is that, I have acted as the National Chairman before.

The PDP is very strong in the Southsouth and the Southeast and there is need to woo the Southwest. With this development, won’t it create another crisis?

That is purely sentimental. In reality, if you want to win an election, you don’t start from the unknown. You begin with the known. Apart from the chairmanship, there are three or four major positions, if you are talking about zoning of the positions. Southwest is a very important zone in the country, if not the number one zone, if you like, in terms of intellectualism, media and so on. We know they have produced President. So, if you look at the president, vice president and the Senate President, these are key government positions. So, if you are talking also of what will benefit the people directly, you will see that with these three key positions, there is no way Southwest can be ignored; but we are down so we want to start from a safer place to move.

I will deliver my state during the elections. As the chairman, you must deliver your place first, since they say that charity begins at home. I will deliver my place and proceed to win other states and regions.

My agenda for the party will be based on 3Rs: Rebuild, Reposition and Regain.  I will want to remain focused on it, in terms of building the party. As we are doing that, we do it together with the other two; repositioning in terms of membership, going digital and mostly emphasising on the youths, who are leaders of tomorrow. As we are doing that, we are enlarging our scope of convincing Nigerians that PDP remains the best option. We stand for national unity in diversity.

Our founding fathers believe that the PDP is a party that was founded on the ground of national unity. And it was good enough that the zoning is contained in our constitution so that regardless of where you are coming from, one day you can aspire to be the President of the country. I believe that taking the party back to the people is very important.

The general impression is that, if you become the national chairman, the Southwest would be considered for  the vice presidency slot to really give APC the big fight…..

If I become the chairman, I will not look at the permutation of the APC on how to win election. I have a different strategy on how to win elections. So, it has to be about collective leadership position. Our first assignment is to determine who becomes our presidential candidate and the choice of the running mate will be the exclusive right of the candidate. So, we are not positioning that. We are not going to say it should come from here or from there.

Other aspirants are visible on the campaign field, but you are operating underground…

Well, I am strategic; but because others have not been in the party to know the inner workings of the party, they are doing otherwise. Don’t forget that it is not an open election. It is a delegate election, delegates and super delegates. Obviously, I’m strategic about this and I’m confident that if it is a delegate election, yes, it is good to carry the press and people along but the most important thing in this election is consultation. Why others are making presence in the media and all that, I will continue consultation with leaders of the party across the country trying to get their support. In places like America it is called endorsement but in Nigeria, if governors or the BOT endorse you, that is imposition. There are two things here. You need the super delegates to be on the same page with you. Let me not call it endorsement to avoid misinterpretation. So, that is how we’ve started. We are also time conscious. You can’t start what you cannot finish. You do a bit of ground work and practically, you need to step up and I can assure you that as we move on, you will see posters and all that. We have done a bit of ground work believing that we will have support of those we have contacted.

One of your co-aspirants, Professor Adeniran, has mentioned that Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the NCC Chairman, is aligning with you. There is also the feeling that some people within the party are not comfortable with the way you managed the resources of the party when you acted as its chairman. What do you have to say?

The rumour is more than the fact. This is Nigerian politics for you. Speculations and imaginations engulf most of our thinking. But, I believe that the media, especially the political editors, will do more findings than just headline news. There is no truth in it that Wike was drafted to do Makarfi’s bidding. I’m close to virtually all the governors, and I consulted all of them, including the BoT chairman.

Of a truth, I have never sat down with Makarfi on how to become chairman, all those are speculations and you know when someone is doing better than the others, those who are not doing what they suppose to do will always speculate and try to drag him down. This is a pull down syndrome. There is no iota of truth in it. I have no arrangement with Makarfi; no one is trying to impose me on people. I have been there before. I have contested as National Organising Secretary, I have contested for Deputy National Chairman, I acted as National Chairman of our party. These are records that you can cross check.

On the issue of what Mu’azu left, again, this is a calculated attempt to blackmail me by whosoever is behind it whether from within or outside, I don’t want to mention names. For anybody to say N9billion was missing or N9billion was left, it means that money was not even used for election. The money realised was about N11billion from sales of forms nationwide. And in our guideline and constitution, when you realise this money, it is shared among the local government, the state, the zonal and the national. Even by mere mention of N9billion means no money was given to them as I mentioned above. I want to plead with you to get into the secretariat, there is a Director of Finance, there is an acting Treasurer, go and find out the fact not taking blackmail or headline news from other people. These are sponsored by some people.

After the 30 percent was shared, you can do the mathematics yourself. Money was kept for completion of our national headquarters. There was no money at all that we met. Now, that money that was kept was about N5billion while Mua’zu was still the chairman. The truth is that, after we lost the presidential election, we could not raise the money for other elections. So the leaders looked and say that the money that was reserved should be used. I was still in Rivers State when the Chairman called all of us from our states and said they could not get money to disburse again. So, the Chairman disbursed the money. We came back and met some money – the N500million that was even in the bank was seized with BoT Chairman that was involved in fund raising. When they could not get their money back, the bank had to seize some money.

No money at all that was left that was to be accounted for. Let me tell you, I’ve been Chairman of PDP in Rivers State. I’ve not been found wanting. I’ve been National Organising Secretary, I raised the money in 2011 and I was not found wanting. If you recall, Taraba election was inconclusive. There was repeat election in Taraba, Imo and I think in Abia. All these were expenses of the party. By the time we returned, of course, Mu’azu gave us account of all money, all the money had been used apart from payment of salaries and a few things that we needed while the other balance was still in the bank. I challenge you to go to the Secretariat to get your figures accurately because I may not be accurate with figures.  But no money was missing apart from N500million that the bank seized. The issue of missing N9billion is to misinform the people to change their mind against some of us that want to contest. When I appeared before the Senate caucus, on my own, I threw light on the alleged missing money. Some of them brought money to me but I rejected it and I said they should go and use the money for the election. I have been mentored to know that money destroys in politics.

What is your plan B as you prepare for the convention?

My plan B is to support anybody that wins that day. It can be me and I will be very glad and thank God. But, if someone else emerges, I will support him because I am a team player.
