    Segun Johnson’s ‘Owambe Experience’ unites fans in Montreal

    Nigerian highlife and party-rocking sensation Segun Johnson delivered a sold-out performance in Montreal, transforming the Gala Garden Event Center into a vibrant “Owambe Experience” on June 13, 2025 at Gala Garden Event Centre. 

    The event was described as a “full-blown Nigerian party like no other,” attracting a massive and diverse crowd for a night of high-energy music, dancing, and cultural celebration.

    The ambiance was electric, with attendees praising the amazing vibes and unforgettable memories created throughout the evening. 

    The concert’s appeal was so strong that fans flew in from other Canadian provinces to attend, a testament to the artist’s growing influence. The artist delivered on his promise of pure “Vibes & Energy”, with the crowd roaring in approval. 

    The energy in the room was palpable as fans danced enthusiastically to the infectious rhythm of “Gbamu Gbamu” and chanted along to popular hype tracks like “Sho Fine Gan Hype” and “Otalenu Hype”.

    A highlight of the night was his performance of the anthem “Presido”, which had the entire venue singing along.

    Reflecting on the show’s success and the diverse audience, Segun Johnson expressed his gratitude. “I feel really happy especially when I saw a lot of francophone fans from Cameroon and Benin Republic dancing and vibing to my performance in Montreal amongst other Nigerians and Canadians,” he stated.

    The sentiment was shared by those in attendance. “It felt like a true Owambe back home, but here in Montreal! The energy was incredible,” said one concertgoer.

    Another fan from Cameroon added, “I’ve never experienced anything like it. You didn’t need to know the language to feel the music. Everyone was dancing.”

    Johnson’s performance has been noted for making significant waves and contributing to Montreal’s local cultural scene.

    The singer who is mostly seen at celebrity events revealed that it has always been a concern for him since he was a backup drummer to make sure everybody at his party enjoys good music during artiste performance.

    Johnson noted that most musicians only focus on the rich folks spraying money at parties while he grows concern for other party attendees.

    “Back then when the rich men start spraying money, the musician can even forget the celebrant to focus on praise singing the spender but deep down I was always thinking that there must be a way for everybody to enjoy the vibe and be happy,” he said.

    He further called for the encouragement of traditional music like Fuji, Apala, Afrobeat, Juju and other genres stating that it is Africa’s original heritage.

    Celebrated artiste and “Ota Lenu” crooner, Segun Johnson, has added another remarkable milestone to his illustrious career.

    Following his sold-out show in Toronto, Canada, in August 2024, the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, awarded Johnson a prestigious Certificate of Recognition for his contributions as an outstanding entertainer and changemaker.

    Although Mayor Patrick Brown could not be physically present at the event, his commendations were delivered by Garry Collins, Director of Communications, Office of the Mayor, City of Brampton.

    Reliving the moment, Segun Johnson expressed his gratitude and reflected on the significance of the recognition:

    “I had a tour in Canada last August, and this recognition by the Mayor of Brampton proves that our performances have transcended the walls of Nigeria. Amazingly, Brampton has a large population of Nigerians, and the Mayor spoke very highly of the Nigerian community. This made me appreciate our culture even more.”

    The gifted artiste also noted that a moment he couldn’t forget was seeing the Mayor’s team dance to some of his hype lines.

    “One remarkable moment for me was seeing the Mayor’s team dancing to some of my hype lines. It shows that my style of music resonates with a global audience, even with people who are neither Nigerians nor Africans. This experience confirms that our culture is appreciated by those who admire us from afar.”

    Inspired by this recognition, Segun Johnson has set his sights on expanding his reach globally.

    “I have decided to embark on more tours, targeting more cities and bringing them excellent entertainment through my unique style of music and audience engagement,” the singer announced.
