    Senator Adegbonmire begs constituents not to sell empowerment packs

    Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central) has begged constituents not to sell starter packs provided to empower them.

    Adegbonmire made the appeal in Akure at a training programme for women and youths on oil palm processing value chain. vital ICT skills, CCTV and solar-powered inverter installation.

    Adegbonmire urged the beneficiaries to take responsibility for their own successes after the training

    He said he has outlined other empowerment programme that would benefit majority of youths and women in the district.

    According to him: “When you acquire skills, it’s up to you to make the most of them. It’s unrealistic for us, after providing these skills, to track and manage each individual.

    “We have selected people whom we believe are responsible and who will value and apply the skills they’ve gained. Additionally, we have engaged consultants who will assess the program’s impact at its conclusion.

    “My view is that we need to equip people with skills so they can become self-employed. It is unrealistic to expect the government—whether federal, state, or local—to employ everyone. There’s a misconception in Nigeria where people expect the government to be the primary employer, and when we talk about unemployment, they think the solution lies solely with government jobs.

    “To truly address unemployment, we need to ensure people acquire skills that empower them to work independently. This program aims to provide such skills so that individuals can become self-employed, thereby significantly reducing the unemployment rate in Nigeria.”

    Some of the beneficiaries said they would learn further skills to enable them become experts

    I have sponsored three bills, says Senator Adegbonmire

    The senator representing Ondo Central senatorial district, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, has denied media report that he has not sponsored any bill since he was sworn into the National Assembly in June last year.

    Senator Adegbonmire said the three bills which was meant for the development of Ondo Central have passed through first reading at the Senate.

    He listed the three bills to include; a Bill for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture, Akure Ondo State; a Bill for the establishment of Federal University Akure Teaching Hospital as well as a Bill for the establishment   Federal University of Art,Culture, Science and Tourism, Igbara Oke, Ifedore LGA.

    Adegbonmire was reacting to a newspaper publication which listed him as one of the senators who were yet to sponsor any bill since the 10th National Assembly was inaugurated in June last year.

    The Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture Colleges and Institutions said he has achieved a lot for his constituents in the last one year.

    Speaking through his Senior Legislative Aide, (SLA), Hon. Bolarinde Akinloye, Senator Adegbonmire said he influenced the dualization of Akure- Ondo- Ore highway into the 2024 National Budget, donated a Multi Million Naira Digital Library to NBA Akure Branch and helped to renovate of a Primary School at Erinla, Ondo West LGA.

    Other achievements he listed included procurement of transformer for Bagbe Community, Ondo West LGA, grading and maintenance of 30km Oke Iya Community Road along Ijoka Akure South LGA amongst others.

    He said he procured UTME/JAMB forms for 300 students alongside scholarships for two best performing students in each of the six LGAs.
