Anyim marks 64th birthday with orphans, pledges full scholarships

Former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has pledged to sponsor the education of vulnerable children as part of his 64th birthday celebration.

The senator made this commitment on Wednesday during a visit to the Abuja Children’s Home, where he marked his birthday with orphans and disadvantaged children.

Anyim emphasized that his decision to celebrate with the children was deeply personal. He recalled his humble beginnings and stated that he understood the struggles of less privileged children.

According to him, providing support to vulnerable children is not just an act of charity but a responsibility he takes seriously.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to mark my birthday than by spending it with these children. I was once less privileged myself, and I see it as my duty to support those who need a helping hand,” he said.

The senator announced that he would be fostering some of the children by offering them scholarships as part of his commitment.

He further called on dignitaries and other well-meaning Nigerians present at the event to do the same by selecting at least one child and committing to their education up to the highest level.

His son, Chisom, described his father as a role model and a man who has dedicated his life to caring for others, particularly the disadvantaged.

He urged wealthy Nigerians to look beyond their personal successes and extend a helping hand to those in need.

“God has blessed many people in this country, and the best way to show gratitude is by being a blessing to others,” Chisom said.

The event drew the presence of several senators, former governors, and other distinguished personalities who praised Senator Anyim for his generosity and humanitarian efforts. Many of them lauded his initiative and expressed their willingness to support similar causes in the future.

He said on July14, everyone will know that Anyim is a critical stakeholder of APC in the South East.

“I took it personal to be going to him on the need to join us because it  will not be possible for the entire Southeast to be negotiating without a man like him.

“I am a fulfilled person today because I have seen APC posters bearing his name and image in APC rally. It  is because of his exigencies that made him not to be here in this rally.

“I  have made frantic and personal efforts and met him in Abuja on the need to join us because of his wealth of experience.

“He is such a wonderful personality and there is no way you can put his picture in our(APC) rally program without his consent. He has already confirmed to be part of APC and that is why his picture is allowed in our program today.

“I stand here to announce to us that Senator Anyim Pius Anyim is a member of APC. He is not only an APC member, but a stakeholder in APC.

“By 14th of next month, you will know that he is not only a stakeholder of APC in Ebonyi State, he is a stakeholder in the entire south east of APC,” Emegha stated.
