    Dafinone bags Integrity award for effective legislative representation

    Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) has been recognised by the Urhobo people for his “effective legislative representation,” in the Senate. 

    The Urhobo People Integrity Organisation (UPIO) conferred on him an Integrity Award at its 2025 awards ceremony on Monday in Ekpan, Delta State. 

    The event, at Bon Hotel Hyatt, brought together leading Urhobo stakeholders to celebrate public officers whose actions have had a measurable impact on the Urhobo people.

    According to the President of  UPIO, Olorogun Dr Ebenezer Okorodudu, the award was in recognition of Senator Dafinone’s “immeasurable contributions to the growth and advancement of the Urhobo Nation,” citing in particular his “pivotal role in restoring peace to Okuama Community after the military attack” and his efforts in securing the release of the Ovie of Ewu Kingdom is His Royal Majesty,  Clement Ikolo.

    To drive home the importance of his contributions to restoring peace in Okuama, the award was presented on behalf of UPIO by the Ovie of Ewu Kingdom HRM. Clement Ikolo, and received by the Senator’s Chief of Staff, Olorogun Barr. Adelabu Bodjor.

    In an appreciation message, Dafinone described the honour as “a motivation to do more for the Urhobo people at all levels,” while assuring UPIO his “continued partnership and support.” He reaffirmed his commitment to people-focused representation anchored on peace-building, justice, and development across Urhoboland.

    The ceremony was attended by prominent Urhobo sons and daughters from across the state and was chaired by the President General of the Urhobo Progress Union, Olorogun Barr. Ese Gam Owe, underscoring the broad-based validation of Senator Dafinone’s legislative impact and leadership.

    The UPU President General, Olorogun Ese Gam also applauded Senator Dafinone’s representation and tasked him to continue to promote and protect Urhobo’s interest. He also called on all Urhobo sons and daughters, home and abroad to work for the betterment of Urhobo Nation.

    Dafinone condemns murder of APC vice-chairman, deans police probe

    Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) has condemned the killing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Mr. Ese Idisi, describing the act as “brutal, horrific, and a devastating loss to his family, our party, and Delta State.”

    In a statement on Monday, the Delta Central Senator called on the Police Force to “immediately launch a full-scale, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into this heinous crime.”

    Dafinone insisted that the perpetrators must not escape justice, stressing that “those behind the murder of Mr Idisi must be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted without delay. Justice must not only be served—it must be seen to be served.”

    He described the late Idisi as “a dedicated party man who served with loyalty, commitment, and an unwavering belief in democracy.”

    The senator urged APC members and residents of Ethiope East to remain calm and avoid reprisal attacks, warning that “violence will only deepen our wounds and distract us from the urgent task of ensuring justice for Mr Idisi.”

    He appealed for faith in the security agencies and called for collective cooperation.

    Dafinone further called on community leaders, youths, and stakeholders to support investigators with useful information, noting that “security is a collective responsibility, and your cooperation may prove invaluable in bringing the culprits to justice and preventing further occurrences of such violence.”

    Extending condolences on behalf of his family and political associates, the senator described Idisi’s death as a “colossal loss” to the APC and the people of Ethiope East. He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that justice ultimately prevails.

    According to him: “I, am deeply shocked, sad and utterly condemn the brutal killing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ethiope East Local Government Area Vice Chairman, Mr Ese Idisi. This horrific act is not only a devastating loss to his family and our party but also to Delta State.
    “Mr Idisi was a dedicated party man who served with loyalty, commitment, and an unwavering belief in democracy.

    “I call on the Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies to immediately launch a full-scale, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into this heinous crime. Those behind the murder of Mr Idisi must be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted without delay. Justice must not only be served—it must be seen to be served.

    “This is a moment that demands calm, restraint, and faith in the justice system. I urge all APC members, supporters, and residents of Ethiope East to avoid taking the law into their own hands. Violence will only deepen our wounds and distract us from the urgent task of ensuring justice for Mr Idisi.     Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) has extended warm felicitations to Edo Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his 55th birthday anniversary.

    In a goodwill message he signed,  Dafinone described Governor Okpebholo as a leader whose life of service, humility, and commitment to the progress of his people continues to inspire confidence and unity, not only in Edo State but across Nigeria.

    The Delta Central lawmaker also commended Okpebholo’s vision for a prosperous Edo State, urging him to remain steadfast in his efforts to consolidate growth and stability in the state.

    He noted that the Governor’s inclusive leadership style has become a model for fostering harmony and development, stressing that his commitment to the welfare of the people is widely acknowledged.

    Dafinone felicitates Christians at Easter, urges reflection on Christ’s sacrifice

    As Christians across the globe mark the Easter celebration, Senator Ede Dafinone has extended warm greetings to the Christian community in Delta Central Senatorial District, Delta State, and Nigeria at large, urging believers to reflect deeply on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and emulate His virtues in their daily lives.

    In a goodwill Easter message, the Delta Central lawmaker described Easter as a sacred and solemn season that reminds Christians of the supreme price paid by Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind. According to him, Christ’s death and resurrection symbolize hope, redemption, and the promise of eternal life.

    Dafinone, while felicitating with Christians, emphasised the importance of embracing the values of love, sacrifice, humility, and forgiveness, which were exemplified in the life and death of Jesus Christ. He said the Easter celebration should go beyond festivities and serve as a moment of sober reflection and spiritual renewal.

    “Easter is not just a time to rejoice, but also a period to reflect on the profound significance of Christ’s resurrection,” the Senator stated. “His selfless act of laying down His life for humanity teaches us compassion, unity, and the need to serve others without expectation.”

    Dafinone distributes starter packs to over 300 farmers at agric empowerment

    Over 300 farmers and aspiring agripreneurs in Delta Central smiled home with essential agricultural starter packs on Friday, marking the grand finale of the two-day Agriculture and Food Security Training and Empowerment Programme facilitated by Senator Ede Dafinone.

    The initiative, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre, Effurun, provided hands-on training in both crop cultivation and fish farming, equipping participants with the skills and tools to kick-start their agribusiness ventures.

    Each participant received a starter pack tailored to their specific training module. Those trained on “Pest Resistance Vegetables: Tomatoes, Pepper, Maize, and Groundnuts” on the first day were handed high-yield seedlings, fertilizers, and pest control chemicals while the second-day trainees, who focused on “Fishponds and Fingerlings (Juvenile) Fish Farming,” received fish feeds, fingerlings, and pond treatment kits.

    The distribution underscored Senator Dafinone’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and youth empowerment.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Dafinone reaffirmed his dedication to tackling unemployment and food insecurity through agribusiness.

    “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. With these starter packs, you are not just farmers but entrepreneurs who will contribute to food production and economic growth,” he declared. He encouraged the beneficiaries to put their training into practice and assured them of continued support.

    The training, executed in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Abuja, featured experts who provided practical guidance on modern agricultural techniques. Resource persons took participants through soil management, irrigation, pest control, and market integration strategies for vegetable farming. Fish farming trainees learned about pond construction, water quality management, breeding techniques, and disease prevention.

    Master Trainer Mr. Obasi Sunday led sessions on tomato and pepper production, while Mrs. Raheem Adejoke Arike educated participants on good agricultural practices for maize cultivation.

    Mrs. Olabisi Oladele emphasised groundnut disease control and soil fertility, and Mrs. T. Adeshola introduced innovative methods for high-yield okra farming. On fish farming day, aquaculture expert Ogechi Happiness Ewa trained participants on sustainable fishpond management and profit-maximization strategies.

    For many beneficiaries, the starter packs symbolized a new beginning. Mrs. Ogechi Ewa, a Senior Agricultural Officer and trainer, praised the program’s impact, stating, “With the enthusiasm shown here, I foresee a transformation in agribusiness across Delta Central.” Participants, such as Ogiechi Excellent, expressed excitement: “I now understand fish farming better. In a few months, I will be running my own business.”

    Olorogun Ejemudaro Salubi, Head of Projects for Senator Dafinone, announced plans for post-training monitoring to ensure beneficiaries effectively utilize their starter packs. “This initiative is not just about training but long-term impact. We will follow up to ensure you are progressing in your farming journey,” she assured participants.

    Victor Bajere, a first-time fish farmer, acknowledged the programme’s value: “I used to think agriculture was for subsistence, but now I see the business potential.” Another participant, Odia Antonia Sheke, added, “With the starter pack, I can start immediately. I appreciate Senator Dafinone’s commitment to our future.”

    The empowerment programme reflects Senator Dafinone’s broader development agenda, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s national strategy to boost food production and employment. With the successful conclusion of the training, stakeholders anticipate a rise in agribusiness activities in Delta Central, potentially reducing youth unemployment and enhancing food security.

    By investing in agricultural knowledge and providing tangible resources, Senator Dafinone has positioned Delta Central’s youths and women for economic independence, reinforcing agriculture as a viable path to prosperity.

    Dafinone bags Senator of the Year’ at Niger Delta advancement awards

    Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) has been honoured as the Senator of the Year at the 7th edition of the Niger Delta Advancement Awards (NDAA). 

    The prestigious event took place over the weekend at the Arena Event Centre, GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

    Organised by JUVENIS Magazine/TV, the award was based on an online poll that received over 30,000 votes from the nine states of the Niger Delta.  Dafinone emerged victorious, outperforming 14 other nominees to clinch the coveted title.

    According to the organisers, the “Senator of the Year” award celebrates a senator who has excelled in representing their senatorial district, sponsoring bills, moving motions, executing impactful constituency projects, maintaining functional offices, and performing effective oversight functions. The award also recognizes outstanding contributions to the development of the Niger Delta region.

    The President and Founder of NDAA, Mr. Oxford Okpalefe, explained the process leading to the award. 

    “The call for nominations, which ran from September 7 to September 30, 2024, received over 30,000 entries online. After extensive sorting, research, and consultations with stakeholders, we compiled a comprehensive list of nominees, with each state in the Niger Delta represented. The final list of nominees was unveiled on October 18, 2024, and voting followed,” he said. 

    The 14 nominees included prominent senators such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom North West), Senator Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa West), Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North), and Senator Thomas Joel-Onowakpo (Delta South). Senator Dafinone’s victory reflects his growing popularity and influence within the region.

    Past recipients of the Niger Delta Advancement Awards include notable Deltans like the late Senator Prof. Adego Eferakeye, Chief Wellington Okirika, and Olorogun Akpo Mudiaga Odje, PhD, underscoring the legacy and prestige associated with the honor.

    Receiving the award on Senator Dafinone’s behalf, Mr. Shedrack Onitsha, CEO of Advocate Newspaper, expressed gratitude to the organisers and the Niger Delta people for recognizing the Senator’s contributions. 

    “This recognition will inspire Senator Dafinone to continue his dedication to the Urhobo Nation and the Niger Delta. As a first-time senator, his voice has been prominent on national issues, and he has attracted impactful constituency projects to Delta Central,” he said. 

    Highlighting some of Dafinone’s achievements, Onitsha mentioned the construction of a 50-room hostel at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, as well as several constituency projects for schools in Delta Central. He also praised Dafinone’s legislative initiatives, including sponsoring bills and motions that are currently progressing through the Senate.

    Onitsha further commended Senator Dafinone for his role in resolving the Okuama crisis, describing his leadership as exemplary. “In just 17 months, Senator Dafinone has provided exceptional representation for the Urhobo people and the Niger Delta,” he added.

    The recognition reflects Senator Dafinone’s growing stature as a leader committed to advancing the interests of his constituents and fostering development across the Niger Delta region.

    Dafinone, in a birthday message, said that Chief Okpoko, a distinguished legal icon, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)  and revered High Chief of Okpe Kingdom, has made indelible contributions to the legal profession, leadership, and community development.

    He said: “His steadfast commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law has earned him widespread admiration across the nation.

    Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central); has congratulated Kingsley Sule, popularly known as Kellyrae, winner of the star prize of the Big Brother Nigeria Season 9 show which ended on Sunday.

    Kellyrae was crowned the winner of the ninth season of Big Brother Naija, after ten weeks of intense drama, strategies, and games. He won against Wanni Danbaki, who came close second with a 3.47% vote difference and Onyeka emerged as the second runner-up at the BBNaija season 9 finale on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

    The Delta Central lawmaker praised Kellyrae, a professional singer, for demonstrating to youths that they can achieve success through dedication and hard work without necessarily compromising your values and integrity.

    Dafinone in a statement to congratulate him, said: “As the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Kingsley Sule, popularly known as Kellyrae, on his remarkable victory in Season 9 of Big Brother Nigeria.

    Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central) has charged Nigerians to be hopeful, noting that with perseverance, the nation will overcome its current challenges.

    Dafinone stated this in his goodwill message to the people of Delta Central and Nigerians as the country marks its 64th Independence Anniversary.

    The Delta Central lawmaker, while congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his focused and visionary leadership, tasked Nigerians to continue to support the President at this trying time, noting that though some of the policies of the government appear as painful, if sustained, Nigeria will be better off for it.

    According to him: “As Nigeria proudly marks its 64th Independence Anniversary, I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his focused and visionary leadership. His commitment to navigating our nation through its current challenges is commendable.

    “I also congratulate the resilient people of Delta Central and all Nigerians who continue to stand tall in the face of the current economic hardship.
