    Tinubu felicitates ex-Kano governor Shekarau at 70

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, on his 70th birthday, describing him as an exemplary public servant whose career embodies dedication, discipline, and service to humanity.

    In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President reflected on Shekarau’s decades-long contribution to national development, beginning from his days as a classroom teacher to his rise through the Kano State civil service, where he attained the rank of permanent secretary.

    President Tinubu recalled the former governor’s “phenomenal election” in 2003, noting that Shekarau’s two-term tenure was marked by a “human-centred approach to governance” that endeared him to many in the state and beyond.

    Shekarau, who later served as Minister of Education from 2014 to 2015 and represented Kano Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 2019 and 2023, was praised for his commitment to public service in various capacities.

    The President thanked Senator Shekarau for his contributions as an educator, administrator, and politician, emphasising that his achievements continue to inspire younger generations.

    President Tinubu prayed for continued good health and divine guidance for the former governor, expressing hope that he will remain available to serve his people and the nation.
