…hails late Edwin Clark’s legacy
The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, has paid tribute to the late Chief Edwin Clark, a stalwart leader and champion of Niger Delta rights.
Speaking at a gathering to honour Clark’s legacy, Azuta-Mbata praised his unwavering commitment to the struggle for resource control, environmental sustainability, and equitable development in the Niger Delta.
Azuta-Mbata said: “Chief Clark’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the struggle for resource control, environmental sustainability, and equitable development in the Niger Delta.

“His leadership of the Pan Niger Delta Forum was instrumental in galvanizing the region’s efforts to secure a fair share of Nigeria’s resources.”
Azuta-Mbata emphasised the importance of unity, equity, and justice in Nigeria’s journey, citing the country’s diversity as a strength that can propel greatness.
He called for deliberate efforts to maintain unity and address structural challenges hindering progress.
“Decentralised policing can help address security concerns and promote community-led solutions,” he said.
“Resource control, as championed by Chief Clark, is essential to addressing the developmental challenges facing the Niger Delta.”
Azuta-Mbata reaffirmed Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s commitment to the values of justice, equity, and unity, and called on Nigerians to work together to build a prosperous nation for all.
