    Sports Minister seeks  partnership with  News Central TV

    Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, visited the headquarters of News Central Television in Lagos, recently. 

    The visit was part of the Minister’s commitment to fostering partnership and development in the sports sector with private and public stakeholders.

    The Minister’s delegation was received by Mr. Kayode Akintemi, the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief alongside Senior Executive Members of News Central Television who commended the Minister for his continuous support and implementation of initiatives in sports development.

     He also noted News Central’s commitment to partnership and collaboration with Nigerians in the diaspora for significant development and growth across various sectors in line with the station’s overarching goal of promoting developmental journalism.

    Senator Enoh commended  the News Central Team for their efforts in fostering journalism and positive engagement even as he praised President  Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ingenuity in creating the Ministry of Sports Development and expressed his gratitude for being the pioneering Minister of the nascent Ministry.

    Commenting on News Central’s activities and collaboration with Nigerians in the diaspora, Senator  Enoh  commended the station and remarked on the necessity of looking beyond remittances from citizens in the diaspora to retain talent and promote patriotism. 

    He  seized the opportunity to reinforce the government’s unwavering commitment to promoting sports and physical activity as integral components of national development and societal well-being.

    Furthermore, the visit provided a platform for Senator John Enoh to highlight the government’s comprehensive agenda for advancing sports infrastructure, nurturing talent, and driving partnerships with private sector actors. 

    The visit culminated in a tour of News Central’s facilities by the Minister and his entourage  which included  Orok Effangha, the Special Adviser on Strategy,  Kenneth Egbas , Special Adviser and Consultant and Diana Mary Nsan, the Special Adviser on Media.

    Paris 2024: Enoh urges Falcons to break 16-year Olympic curse

    Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has urged the Super Falcons  to break the 16-year jinx that has kept Nigeria out of the Olympic Games Female Football event.

    Having missed out on the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games, Senator Enoh said the Super Falcons must be determined to reclaim its spot on the international stage.

    With a 1-0 lead from the first leg held in Abuja, the Super Falcons carry the hopes and dreams of a nation as they head into the decisive match against the Banyana Banyana  in Pretoria tomorrow.

    “The Super Falcons have shown remarkable strength and prowess throughout their journey, and now is the time for them to rise and conquer. We believe in their ability to overcome any challenge and make Nigeria proud,”  Enoh stated.

    He  added: “Breaking the 16-year Olympic jinx is not just a goal; it will be a perfect microcosm of the dedication and abilities of our athletes. I urge the Super Falcons to play with passion, determination, and unity. Together, we can rewrite history and inspire generations to come.

    “As they step onto the pitch in South Africa, the Super Falcons carry the hopes and aspirations of millions of Nigerians. We stand with them every step of the way, providing the support they need to succeed.”

    Meanwhile, Enoh has called upon all Nigerians to rally behind the Super Falcons, saying: “Let us unite as a nation to cheer on our heroes. With our support and their relentless spirit, there is no limit to what the Super Falcons can achieve. Together, let’s make history!”
