  • Customs promotes 1,997 senior officers

    The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has confirmed  the appointments of four members of NCS management and approved the promotion of 1,997 senior officers to various ranks.

    The board’s first meeting presided over by its chairman, Minister of Finance Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, approved the new ranks.

    The yardsticks for the promotion are: cumulative scores of annual evaluation, written examination, oral interview, seniority and availability of vacancies.

    The promotion is effective from January, 1 2017, according to the spokesman of the NCS Mr. Joseph Attah.

    Following the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, the newly confirmed members of NCS management and other promoted officers who are serving at the headquarters were decorated with their new ranks by Comptroller-General Hamed Ali in his office at the Customs headquarters.

    They are DCS, Talatu Isa Mario  (Tariff and Trade ), ACG, Ibrahim Yakubu Maikarfi (FATS) and ACG and Ali BuKarl Ama Amajam (E,I &I) and Comptroller Adesanmi Omiye ( International Customs Desk).

    Some of the newly promoted Comptrollers are Gumi HK (Tarriffs and Trade) Itotoh G A (Comand and Staff College) Adediran JO (Ikorodu terminal), Agbara O.M (Ogun State Command)

    NAF redeploys three Air Officers Commanding, 14 other senior officers

    The Nigerian Air Force has redeployed three Air Officers Commanding (AOCs) and 14 other senior officers as part of routine exercise to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

    The air force Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Olatokunbo Adesanya disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

    According to Adesanya, with the redeployment, AVM Oladayo Amao is now the AOC Tactical Air Command, Makurdi, AVM Mohammed Idris, AOC, Air Training Command, Kaduna, and AVM Remigus Ekeh, AOC, Logistics Command, Lagos.

    In the same vein, AVM Ibrahim Yahaya, the former AOC Logistics Commanding becomes the Chief of Administration, NAF Headquarters, while AVM Christopher Okoye, who was the former AOC Air Training Command, is now Director of evaluation, Defence Headquarters, (DHQ)

    Also redeployed are: AVM Olusoji Awomodu as Director of Operations at DHQ, AVM Okechukwu Ntukogu, Senior Air Staff Officer, Headquarters Mobility Command, Yenagoa, AVM Napoleon Bali as Director of Operations at NAF Headquarters.

    The redeployment saw AVM Mahmoud Ahmed as Director of Legal Services at NAF HQ, AVM Dahiru Sanda, Director of Space Utility at DHQ and AVM Charles Ohwo, Director of Evaluation at NAF HQ.

    Similarly, Air Commodore Ado Inuwa is now the Deputy Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

    Adesanya said Air Commodore Aliyu Bello who was the former Commander 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna State, had been redeployed as the Director of Training, NAF HQ.

    He said following the exercise, Group Capt. Ahmed Dari has been appointed as the Commander, 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna.

    Adesanya said the postings will take effect from January 29.

    Army promotes Diya, 122 senior officers

    The Army yesterday announced the promotion of 123 senior officers, including 66 Lieutenant Colonels and 57 Majors to the next rank.

    Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, the army spokesman said the promotion followed the recommendation of the Army Promotion Board 3 and 4 “as reflected in the 2017 Nigerian Army Forecast of Events.”

    The newly promoted officers are  moving from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to   Colonel.

    They include  the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Division, Lt.- Col. K.M Samuel and Lt.-Col. O.O Diya of 707 Special Forces Brigade.

    Others are Lt.- Col. I. A.M Tukur, Commanding Officer of 119 Task Force Battalion, Lt.-Co. I M.B Shehu, Commanding Officer 158 Battalion and Lt.-Col. K.C Uwa, Commanding Officer 146 Battalion.

    One of the beneficiaries, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Suleman, was promoted posthumously.

    “Promoted Lieutenant Colonel is the Acting Commanding Officer of 115 Task Force Battalion, Major MD Olaseni, and Acting Commanding  Officer of 151 Task Force Battalion, Major OJ Okwoli, amongst others,” he said.

    Air Force promotes 153 senior officers

    THE Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has promoted 153 senior officers with the aim of boosting the professional commitment and productivity of those in its top echelons.

    Its Director of Public Relations & Information Air Commodore Dele Alonge, who said this yesterday, added that the newly promoted officers include 14 Air Vice Marshals, 26 Air Commodores, 22 Group Captains and 91 Wing Commanders.

    Those promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVM) are the Chief of Aircraft Engineering at the Headquarters of Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Onyemaechi Osahor; Director of Works at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force Air Vice Marshal Shehu Adamu; and Director Air Intelligence at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force  Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Usman.

    Others are Principal Air Staff Officer to the Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Abdul-Wahab; Commander, 75 Strike Group Yola Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao; Commander, 303 Flying Training School Kano Air Vice Marshal John Baba; Commander 81 Air Maritime Group Benin Air Vice Marshal Okechukwu Ntukogu and  a Directing Staff at the National Defence College, Air Vice Marshal Humphrey Okpala.

    Other new AVMs are the Commander, 203 Medium Airlift Group Ilorin Air Vice Marshal Yekeen Ishola; Director of Information Communication Technology at the National Defence College Air Vice Marshal Christian Dii; the Managing Director, Nigerian Air Force Housing and Construction Company, Air Vice Marshal Sambo Usman; Commander 335 Base Services Group Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Auwal Muhammad; Director Search and Rescue, National Emergency Management Agency Air Vice Marshal Charles Otegbade and Commander 333 Logistics Group Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Isyaka Bukar.

    The NAF spokesman said the 26 senior officers elevated to the rank of Air Commodore include Group Captains Emmanuel Udenyi, Aliyu Bello, Iboro Etukudo, Chiebonam Ozougwu, Abidemi Marquis, Abubakar Liman, Pius Oahimire, Kabiru Aliyu, Ubrufih Uzezi, Nkem Aguiyi, Sule Lawal and Paul Masiyer among others.

     

     

    Others are Group Captains Isah Muhammad, Kurotimi Obidake, Dalhat Ladan, Adeniyi Amesinlola, Olagoke Ogunmola, Raheem Tijani, Obainana Imafidor, Framah Batnah, John Dibal, Mohammed Sini, Barisi Keenam, Sunday Ogba, Habib Adamu and Emma Enam.

    ”The recent promotions are in line with one of the key drivers of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s vision, which is to promote and inculcate the core values of integrity, excellence and service delivery.

    “As an annual exercise, the purpose of promotion is to encourage officers to rededicate themselves to assigned duties as well as the development of the Nigerian Air Force and the nation as a whole,” Alonge stated.

     

  • Nigerian Air Force get senior officers

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) released yesterday the posting and appointments of some senior officers.

    Among the new appointments are four Branch Chiefs, three Air Officers Commanding (AOCs) and two Commandants.

    The four Branch Chiefs at the NAF  Headquarters are Air Vice Marshal (AVM) AA Iya, formally the Chairman Air Exposition and International Liaison Secretariat (AILS) now appointed as Chief of Training and Operations (CTOP).

    AVM AM Mamu, the former AOC, Training Command Kaduna takes charge as the Chief of Administration (COA).

    AVM IJ Yahaya moves from his former position as the Director of Works to become the Chief of Logistics and Communications (CLOG & Comms). Air Commodore CU Usoh, the former Director of Air Engineering is now the Chief of Aircraft Engineering (CAcE).

    The three AOCs are AVM RA Ojuawo, the former Director of Operations HQ NAF now the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command Makurdi.

    AVM WA Ahmed is now the new Air Officer Commanding Training Command Kaduna. In the same vein, AVM MA Muhammed moves from his former position as the Managing Director, NAF Investment Limited to the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Lagos.

    The two new Commandants are AVM MC Iloenyosi who moves from his former position as the Chief of Training and Operations HQ NAF to his present appointment as the Commandant Armed Forces Resettlement Centre Oshodi.

    Also, AVM SA Dambo, the former Senior Air Staff Officer Training Command now takes charge as the Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji.

    A statement yesterday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Dele Alonge said the new posting and appointments were in line with the Chief of Air Staff’s efforts at transforming the Nigerian Air Force for greater operational efficiency.
