    Femi Odugbemi shoots star-studded series, ‘Battleground’

    Nollywood producer and Director, Femi Odugbemi is set to hit TV screens with a new soap opera titled ‘Battleground’.

    A collaboration between the filmmaker and Africa Magic, ‘Battleground’ revolves around the controversial and extremely wealthy patriarch of the Badmus family and tells the story of power, love, deceit, and intrigue.

    The hour-long programme features an interesting mix of talents; from theatre thespians to music and of course Nollywood stars.

    Among those featured in the production are Joke Silva, Adebayo Salami, aka Oga Bello, Gbenga Titiloye, Jide Kosoko, Kunle Coker, Ini Dima-Okojie, Yinka Davies, Yeni Kuti, Steve Ogunleye, Bikiya Graham-Douglas, Zara Ejorh, Shaffy, Ozzy, Francis Onwochei, Hauwa Allahbura, Keturah King and others.

    According to information, screen and audio bigwigs will make cameo appearances every week.

    Some of Odugbemi’s notable works include ‘Gidi Blues’, TV movie, ‘Mama Put’ and Tinsel, one of Africa Magic’s longest-running and most consistent television soap opera.

    His latest work, ‘Battleground’ is expected to hit the TV Screens from May 1, 2017.

  • StarTimes premieres exciting series

    PAY TV service provider, StarTimes, has lined up new exciting series on its ST Novela, Fox and AMC channels this month. This, its management says, is in a bid to further enrich entertainment and viewing pleasure for subscribers.

    According to management, ST Novela begins Season 1 of Legendary Love, the story of a young lady who was unjustly accused of a clergyman’s murder. With that horrible crime, she was arrested and spent 23 years in prison. In the present day, a young lady must figure out the real story behind the Priest’s mysterious death.

    Season 1 of On The Wings Of Love also debuts on ST Novela this month, showing a 2015 Philippine romantic comedy television series which premiered on ABS-CBN and worldwide on The Filipino Channel on August 10, 2015. The romantic comedy centers around two different people—Leah, a simple girl with an American dream; and Clark, a boy living his American life—who are forced to marry to legally stay and continue working in the United States.

    Also on ST Novela is La Niña which tells the story of a young girl recruited by force by the guerrilla, where she lived in first-hand the horror of war. After many years, she flees from the armed group and guided to set on a new path, returning to ordinary life which will not be easy due to the struggles of re integration in to society, the challenge of under stating this new side of herself and confronting her own family.

    ST Novela will also in March continue popular series, Amazona on Saturdays and Sundays with the story Victoriano, a landowner and businessman, father of three daughters (Diana, Casandra and Constanza), victim of lies and intrigues that prevent him from being with the love of his life.

    Other series will be airing are House 6 on AMC Series, as well as popular series, Empire which returned last Thursday on Fox with the second part of Season 3.

  • Youths felicitate with Iwuanyanwu on lecture series

    The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders has congratulated its Grand Patron,  Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, on the inauguration of his Annual Lecture Series by the Owerri, Imo State branch of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE).

    It described the development as a confirmation of the belief of youths in the patriotism and commitment to the cause of the downtrodden, by Chief Iwuanyanwu.
    The group, which is an amalgamation of youth organisations, lauded the NSE, for acknowledging Chief Iwuanyanwu for the rare honour.

    This honour conferred on Chief Iwuanyanwu has further shown the resolve of the prestigious NSE to celebrate genuine achievers, patriots and people of high morals and integrity.

    Over the years, Chief Iwuanyanwu have had so many things going for him. Focus, determination, discipline and a quest for excellence at all times.

    “On behalf of the entire Nigerian Youth, we congratulate Chief Iwuayanwu on this great achievement. It is a gift to us as Youth and a morale booster to our generation. We are proud of this singular achievement.”

    CELINE DIMAS STARS IN ACTION SERIES, ‘LOLA’

    DELECTABLE diva, Celine Dimas, is playing lead role in a new web series titled Lola the Series.

    Shot in Lagos, Lola the Series x-rays the adventures of a super hero character played by Omolola Thomas aka Lola in the movie; a focused, mean and no-nonsense female detective whose onion is on the field of special crime fighting and bringing the culprit to book.

    Directed by Wole Ogundare and Oludare OMG, Lola the Series is produced by Celine Dimas and has a fantastic cast line that includes veteran actress Ayo Adesanya, Victor Edogbon, Ani Chinedu Emmanuel (Nedu), Celine Dimas amongst others.

    Episode one sees the Lola character in a dead chase to apprehend a notorious criminal named ‘Kogi’.

  • Series to engage 300 pupils on Children’s Day

    Upticomm Marketing Company, a public relations and integrated marketing communications consulting firm, has unveiled TheRoleModelSeries Conference, a mentor-protege programme for teenagers in public secondary schools, to mark Children’s Day on May 27.

    The series, which provides education, mentoring and inspiration using personalities in private, business, and public life, will hold at the Main Auditorium of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

    The inaugural edition will feature over 300 pupils aged between 12 and 16 years.

    There will be inspirational speeches, presentations, question and answer sessions, drama skit, and syndicate session. Prizes, awards, and plaques will be given to deserving individuals and organisations.

    Upticomm Marketing Chief Strategist Olusegun McMedal, explained that the idea is driven by the need to create access for teenagers to learn directly from role models in the society.
