    Naira mutilation: EFCC ‘scapegoating’ celebrities, says Actor Seun Jimoh

    Actor Seun Jimoh has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of using celebrities as scapegoats in the quest for better use of the nation’s currency, naira. 

    He accused the anti-graft agency of “scapegoating” celebrities in its ongoing clampdown on Naira abusers.

    His reaction is coming after popular barman, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest was arraigned for Naira abuse days after crossdresser, Bobrisky was sent to prison for a similar offence.

    Jimoh said it is “unfair that certain people are being selected for a crime almost 70% of Nigerians or more are guilty of with overwhelming video evidence all over the internet.”

    He argued that the “scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite sinister and lacks any concern for the mental health of the Nigerian citizens.”

    On his Instagram page, he wrote: “It looks like scapegoats are being selected to send a message to the general populace. But then, is it not unfair that certain people are being selected for a crime almost 70% of Nigerians or more are guilty of with overwhelming video evidence all over the internet?!

    “Why hasn’t anyone ever been caught on video spraying money between the time the law has been in effect till now being arrested? Why celebrities? Celebrities are citizens too! This scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite sinister and lacks any concern for the mental health of the Nigerian citizens.”

    Actor Seun Sean Jimoh has kicked against the entitled mentality and ungratefulness of some people. 

    He advised givers to waste no time in cutting ties with such individuals while also making a demand of their gifts should they meet with the aforementioned people.

    According to Jimoh, a heart of appreciation is all that is needed if help is rendered to one in this current situation of the country.

    Taking to his Instagram page, he wrote: “Except someone owes you , no amount is too small as a gift ! If you give a monetary gift to someone and they do not show appreciation, ask for a refund in very clear terms and care less if the relationship becomes tainted or stained , anyone who doesn’t appreciate the sacrifice it entails to extend any form of monetary gift in this era does not deserve to be in your life however you choose to see it !”.

    He noted how people who work hard for money value it more than those who don’t.

    Sending a message to his gender, he told them to stop giving money to women who don’t have a legitimate hustle.

    Actor Seun Jimoh has appealed to Nigerians with friends and family residing abroad, urging them to show understanding.

    In a post on his Instagram page, he encouraged people to be considerate towards their affluent friends and family, particularly those living abroad.

    Highlighting the challenges of currency exchange, with $1 equivalent to N1700, he emphasized that loved ones overseas still have to work harder to earn their income.

    Jimoh cautioned against calculating the monetary value of assistance provided by loved ones in dollars, stressing that even helpers may require support themselves.

    He said: “Please take it easy on your rich friends and family and the ones in Diaspora. Even though the dollar is 1 to 1700 now they still need to work their asses off for every dollar. No dey take brain calculates how much dollars be for who wan give you o! Person wey you dey look up to see get who e dey look up to o.
