    I love Afrobeats, Tyla, Burna Boy – Shakira

    Global superstar Shakira has professed admiration for Afrobeats and African music, specifically highlighting fondness for Nigerian sensation Burna Boy and South African rising star Tyla.

    In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Colombian singer-songwriter described her musical tastes as eclectic, honest and real, revealing her love for the vibrant rhythms and authentic energy of Afrobeats.

    Shakira sampled the iconic Cameroonian song “Zangaléwa” by Golden Sounds in her 2010 World Cup anthem “Waka, Waka (This Time For Africa)”. 

    She said:  “If I could explain my taste in music in three words, I would say eclectic, honest and real.

    “I love anything Afrobeats. I like Tyla, I like Burna Boy, anything Afrobeats. But I love Burna so much.”

    Shakira declares Beyonce Queen of pop music

    Renowned Colombian singer Shakira has crowned her American counterpart Beyoncé the queen of pop.

    She noted that Beyoncé has done a lot for women of colour in the US and around the world.

    The ‘Hips don’t lie’ crooner spoke in the latest episode of her show, Shakira Radio Station on Apple Music.

    “She [Beyoncé’] is the queen. I mean, this is just so incredible, what she does for minorities in the US and around the world, what she’s done for women of color, what she’s done for women in general.

    “The purpose that her life and her music has, it’s undeniable and it’s of a great magnitude,” she said in part.

    Shakira and Beyoncé collaborated on the hit song ‘Beautiful Liar’ back in 2006.

    I don’t know if I’d fall in love again – Shakira

    Popular Colombian singer, Shakira has expressed her doubts about falling in love again after her recent split from longtime partner, Gerard Pique.

    After 11 years together, Shakira and Gerard Pique announced their separation in June 2022.

    Their separation came amid the suspicions of Pique’s infidelity.

    The singer revealed that the pain of heartbreak has left her feeling hesitant to open her heart to someone new.

    Speaking during an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, the singer stated that she thought she would experience love forever.

    Shakira said: “I thought love would be there forever for me, and that’s one of my broken dreams. I don’t know if I’d like to find that again. Probably not.”

    She further explained that after the end of her relationship, she is focusing on prioritising “friendship” in her life moving forward.

    Her words: “I think friendship lasts longer than love. Though, I still think experiencing love, fully experiencing it with all its peaks and valleys, it’s so essential to human life.

    “I love love, but I think I even love friendship a little bit more. Because I thought love would be there forever for me. And that’s one of my, you know, broken dreams. Perhaps I will. I don’t know if I’ll like to find that again. Probably not. Well, I don’t know. But friendship, I have.

    Shakira explained that in the past, she did not always prioritize friendship, often placing being in a relationship ahead of it.

    “I wasn’t one of those people who valued friendship as much. I’ve always valued family and having a partner in a couple. I’ve always been in a couple,” she explained.

    “But then when that wasn’t there, and when I lost my boys and when I had to face the darkest and the hardest moments of my life, friends were there and they kept me together.

    “Those who did really showed me the true, the true meaning of life. I might not grow old with a partner, but I will grow old surrounded by good friends.”

    Famous Colombian singer and songwriter, Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, popularly known as Shakira has ranked first on Google’s list of Top Trending Musicians Globally in 2023.

    The acclaimed ‘Queen of Latin Music’ occupied the top spot in the list recently revealed by the search engine.

    Shakira is followed by American singers, Jason Aldean, Joe Jonas, Smash Mouth, and Italian star, Peppino di Capri, at number 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

    Gino Paoli, Tom Kaulitz, Kellie Pickler, José Luis Perales, and Anna Oxa complete the top ten in that order.
