Netflix’s Shanty Town causes rift between Ini Edo and Chi Chi Nworah

A cold war is currently brewing between filmmaker Chi Chi Nworah and screen siren, Ini Edo over the ownership of Netflix original film, ‘Shanty Town.’

Investigation conducted by The Nation revealed that Chi Chi and Ini Edo are currently daggers drawn over the ownership of the hit limited series.

The discordance between the estranged friends and practitioners is coming one year after the limited series was released on January 20, 2023 by Netflix.

Trouble reared its ugly head when Ini Edo issued a cease and desist letter to Netflix over dispute with Nworah’s Giant Creative Media over the plans to shoot a sequel to the hit film.

Filmmaker and creative director of Giant Creative Media, Chineye ‘Chi Chi’ Nworah has refuted claims that star actress Ini Edo owns the copyright and trademarks of Netflix hit series, ‘Shanty Town.’

Ini Edo’s grievance was initiated through her Lawyers Pentagon partner legal practitioners.

“Please be advised that Ms. Chineye Nworah and GCM are not the sole owners of the intellectual property rights over the cinematography film – Shanty Town. Our clients are co-owners of the intellectual property rights and have not authorised, permitted and sanctioned Ms. Chineye Nworah and GCM to discuss any sequel on its behalf,” the letter from Ini Edo’s lawyers read in part.

Reacting to Ini Edo, Giant Creative Media and Nworah, in a recent statement, urged the public, fans and viewing audience to disregard the malicious and false claims by Ini Edo, her firm and her lawyers.

“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious and false claims purportedly made by Ms. Iniobong Edo Etim (Ini Edo) of Minini Empire Production Limited circulating on social media, claiming to be the owner of the intellectual property in the Netflix original film, ‘Shanty Town,” the statement reads in part.
