    Same sex marriage against humanity, says Sheikh Ahmed

    The Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Ahmad, yesterday warned humanity to desist from promoting same sex marriage.

    He described same sex union as vice against humanity, charging the faithful to resist it with venom.

    The Chief Missioner spoke at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Lagos Council Maiden Ramadan lecture held at Lagos Television (LTV) Combo Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja. Sheikh Ahmed noted that the adoption of gender change and other immoral dealings on same sex union as championed by the West were anti Islam.

    He said God had warned humans to ensure they save people from hell fire by engaging them with righteous teachings and proper mentoring.

    He urged the media to champion societal rebirth in their reportage.

    Ahmad said that the law of Islam has five principles that include preservation of lives, preservation or intellect, preservation of wealth.

    He commended NUJ for organising such a programme and prayed for its sustenance, to chart people-oriented policies for state actors to adopt.

    Chairman of the event, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, described economic challenges as global issues that required assistance of one to another, to survive.

    Fagbohun, former Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, asked people to share food items to one another.

    He said that givers would always be rewarded by God.

    According to him, bad mouthing the nation and its leaders will do no good to everyone.

    “We should pray for the nation and our leaders for the uncommon strength to steer the country to the desired end,” he said.

    LASU mathematics lecturer, Dr Aminant Ige-Ariyibi, who lectured on marital discord induced by hardship, preached financial prudence in the management of the home.

    The university don, asked women to cultivate the act of home management to help mitigate the times.

    She said that financial crisis was inevitable, but could be mitigated by reducing one’s spending, especially on wants as against needs.

    She urged spouses to be kind and supportive to one another and always pray to God for sustainability.

    “Be kind to your spouse, don’t allow the burden overwhelm your partner, both should shoulder the cause of the family,” she said.
