    President mourns Sheikh Habibi

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed  sorrow over the passing of a prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Mainasara  Habibi.

    He described Habibi  as a towering figure in religious scholarship and a steadfast advocate for peaceful coexistence.

    The  67 cleric  died  at the weekend in Zaria, Kaduna State.

    Until his death, Habibi  served as  national chairman of the Preachers Committee of   Fityanul Islam organisation under the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood.

    The President’s  condolence message was signed by his  Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

      Tinubu praised the late preacher for his lifetime dedication to the advancement of Islamic knowledge and humanitarian service.

    He  said Sheikh Habibi would be  remembered for his consistent message of religious tolerance, unity, and peace among Nigerians .

    “Through his teachings, Sheikh Habibi championed peaceful coexistence and understanding among our diverse people. His efforts contributed significantly to fostering harmony within our national community,” the  President said.

    He  extended his sympathies to the government and people of Kaduna State, the Zazzau Emirate Council, and the leadership of the Tijjaniyya Brotherhood.

    Tinubu mourns Islamic preacher Sheikh Habibi

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Mainasara Liman Habibi, describing him as a towering figure in religious scholarship and a steadfast advocate for peaceful coexistence.

    Sheikh Habibi, 67, died over the weekend in Zaria.

    Until his death, he served as the national chairman of the preachers committee of the Fityanul Islam organisation under the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood.

    In a condolence message contained in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the late preacher for his lifetime dedication to the advancement of Islamic knowledge and humanitarian service.

    The President said Sheikh Habibi would be fondly remembered for his consistent message of religious tolerance, unity, and peace among Nigerians, irrespective of doctrinal differences.

    “Through his teachings, Sheikh Habibi championed peaceful coexistence and understanding among our diverse people. His efforts contributed significantly to fostering harmony within our national community,” President Tinubu said.

    The President extended his sympathies to the government and people of Kaduna State, the Zazzau Emirate Council, and the leadership of the Tijjaniyya Brotherhood across Nigeria, urging them to find strength in the preacher’s enduring legacy.

    President Tinubu also offered prayers for the repose of Sheikh Habibi’s soul, seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the revered cleric.
