3SC  Chairman unveils plans ahead of forthcoming  NPFL season

In a bold and unprecedented move, Honourable Taiwo Olayinka Salami, Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), has rolled out a comprehensive reform agenda to restore the club’s historic legacy and elevate it to modern professional standards.

Speaking at the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Annual General Meeting in Abuja, Salami laid out a forward-thinking blueprint focused on player welfare, infrastructural upgrades, and private sector investment.

In a historic first for the Ibadan-based club, Salami announced that Shooting Stars will begin air travel for long-distance away fixtures—a major leap in professionalism and player comfort.

“Our fleet is being renovated, and we are requesting new buses. For the first time in the history of Shooting Stars, long-distance trips will be by air. This has never happened before,” he declared.

Salami stressed the need to prioritize the well-being of players, pointing to ongoing talks about medical insurance and better travel arrangements.

“This morning alone, I was discussing medical insurance with my team. Travel, accommodation—these are vital for getting the best out of our players,” he said.

Responding to questions about his late father—legendary Coach Salami—Taiwo vowed not only to uphold the family legacy but to surpass it.

“It’s been 37 years since my father passed, and his name still echoes in Nigerian football. He once personally financed the team’s first UK trip. That legacy is a standard I must exceed,” he affirmed.

Salami unveiled plans for a dedicated club complex, including a gym, hostels, coaching quarters, multiple training pitches, and recreational spaces—a move set to professionalize operations and strengthen team unity.

Recognizing the financial demands of modern football, the Chairman revealed ongoing negotiations with sponsors and plans to expand Shooting Stars’ digital footprint.

“Government alone cannot fund football. We are close to sealing major sponsorships and will be more visible online. Football today is built on visibility, partnerships, and commercial growth,” he explained.

Salami issued a passionate call to fans to rally behind the team as they prepare for the 2024/25 NPFL season, which begins on August 22. Shooting Stars will play their first match a week later.

“The glory days are back. Come out, support us, pray for us. This is a new football philosophy, and together, we will make history,” he said in closing.
