    BREAKING: Qualified bidders emerge in 2022/2023 oil licensing

    Sifax and Royalgate Consortium and Oceangate Engineering Oil and Gas Limited have emerged as winners in the ongoing 2022/2023 oil mini-bid round.

    Both firms won the bids for PPL 300-DO and PPL 302-DO respectively having emerged as the sole bidders in their categories.

    For PPL 303-DO, two bidders, MRS Oil and Gas Company Limited and NNPC Exploration and Production Limited qualified. It was a tie bid.

    In PPL 304-DO, Homeland Integrated Offshore Services Limited edged out Sifax and Royalgate Consortium to emerge the winner. Hamilcar Oil and Gas Consortium won the bid for PPL 305-DO ahead of NNPC E&P.

    BISWAL Oil and Gas Limited won in the PPL 306-DO bid, beating NNPC E&P Limited.

    The tie bid in the PPL 303-DO is currently being rebidded in line with the rules governing a tie bid.

  • SIFAX acquires N1.5b trucks

    SIFAX Haulage and Logistics Limited, a subsidiary of SIFAX Group, has acquired 20 trucks worth about N1.5 billion to boost its operations.

    Speaking at the trucks inauguration, SIFAX Haulage & Logistics Limited General Manager Mr Adewale Adetayo said the company’s decision to expand was designed to deliver better service to its clients and position her for the bigger task ahead in the industry.

    He said: “The acquisition of these new trucks is a clear demonstration of the unfettered commitment of the management of SIFAX GROUP to the strategic goal of repositioning SIFAX Haulage & Logistics Limited for greater productivity. With this acquisition, our transfer and delivery processes will be sharpened. We can now also favourably compete in the movement of deadweights. We are poised to change the haulage and logistics landscape in Nigeria with the expansion of our fleet. Our haulage team has been well prepared and equipped with various technical trainings to usher in the operations of these new trucks in addition to ones we have at hand.’’

    Earlier, Group Managing Director, SIFAX Group Mr. John Jenkins explained that with the inasuguration of the new trucks, the company now lives up to the standard it is known for worldwide. He noted that the company’s business acumen is geared towards constantly meeting customer needs and adding value to all its businesses.

    “Today’s inauguration is in line with the company’s vision of making all its brands and businesses the front liners in their respective sectors. We are committed to constantly strengthening the logistics value chain of the maritime sector of which haulage is an important value,” he said.

    Jenkins assured clients that with the acquisition and relevant capacity development programmes that the staff have undergone, the quality of service they would enjoy would be a lot better.

  • SIFAX boss charges startups on hard work

    Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Group Executive Vice Chairman, SIFAX Group, has charged young entrepreneurs to imbibe the virtues of persistence, self-confidence, creativity, hard work and a great deal of listening skills, If they intend to succeed in business.

    Afolabi disclosed this while receiving the season 4 winner of The Next Titan entrepreneurship reality TV show, Mr. Kennedy Iyeh and the show’s organisers at the SIFAX Group’s head office in Lagos. SIFAX Group has been a sponsor of the show for all of its four editions.

    Afolabi frowned at the levity at which young people lead their lives, adding that success is a product of planning, strategy and sacrifice, among others. He said: “To succeed in Nigeria’s daunting business terrain you must possess certain qualities that will drive you to the lofty heights you have imagined.  These qualities include persistence, self confidence, creativity, hardwork and a great deal of listening skills.

    “As the entrepreneur, you are always at the centre of the business and remains one of the key factors of success for such venture. As the driver of the vision, a whole lot rests on your shoulders and you must possess certain qualities, without which, success, can either be limited or non-existent.

  • SIFAX gets first MV Maritime Challenger

    Operators of Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, a subsidiary of SIFAX Group and operator of Terminal C, Tin Can Island Port, Lagos, has received a new vessel, MV Maritime Challenger, at the terminal.

    The new bulk carrier, which made its first voyage to any port in the world, sailed from Singapore. It is owned and operated by the IMC Shipping, China, a leading dry bulk shipping service provider, with over half a decade experience plying international waters and major trading routes in the Asia-Pacific. It serves markets in South America and Africa, focusing on major and minor bulk cargoes.

    The vessel has an installed capacity of about 39,744 tonnes of cargo, in its first call at the terminal. It brought major and minor bulk cargoes. Some of the items it brought included chemicals (pure ammonium nitrate), fluid transport tank, fibre ceiling, pulp wood, coils, pallets, tractors and trucks. Seamless pie and hot rolled sheets, construction equipment and materials, wheel loader, sodium sulphate, are the other items on the vessel.

    Speaking on the significance of the new carrier, SIFAX Group Managing Director, Mr. John Jenkins, said the need to put the terminal to full use and increase the company’s revenue base were the reasons for its renewed interest in general cargo.

    “We are delighted that history has been made again at our terminal with the arrival of this brand new vessel that embarked on its first ever voyage to any port. The voyage was from Asia to the Nigerian waters, and ends with its berth at our terminal. Ports & Cargo terminal has demonstrated over the years its leadership capability in the country’s maritime industry, particularly in the area of efficient port terminal management coupled with excellent customer service.

    “The company has made a huge investment in infrastructure and equipment at the terminal in the last 10 years and has, therefore, attracted a number of discerning clients, including IMC, the operator of the vessel. What has been the unique selling proposition of the terminal is the quality of service that we provide.

    “While we have concentrated heavily on the container business over the years, the terminal is actually a multi-purpose one that can conveniently handle other kinds of vessels. It is with this belief in our ability and opportunities that our unique terminal provides that we have decided to also develop the general cargo/bulk side of our business. This new line is a testimony of our commitment to excel in this business,”he said.

    Also speaking, the General Manager, Ports &Cargo Handling Services Limited, Mr. Mustapha Mohammed, assured IMC Shipping and other prospective clients of the company’s readiness to provide excellent terminal operations that would exceed their expectations.

    Speaking on his experience, the captain of the ship, Captain Tang Jiang Tao, noted that he has received warm welcome from the Ports & Cargo terminal staff as well as other government regulatory agencies like Nigerian Ports Authority, among others.

    He also expressed his delight at the impressive equipment at the terminal. “We are delighted to take this ship on its first voyage from Asia to Nigeria and I must say that we are very impressed by what Ports & Cargo has offered us in terms of competent hands and quality service delivery. I and my crew will be happy to call the terminal again,” he said.

    SIFAX Group, a multinational company with interests in Aviation, Maritime, Haulage & Logistics, Oil & Gas and Hospitality, among others, has thrown its weight behind the youth entrepreneurship and business reality TV show, The Next Titan Nigeria.   • Firm names Sifax as agent

    SIFAX Shipping Company Limited, an arm of SIFAX Group, has been appointed as the new agent of Auto Export Shipping (AES) in Nigeria and Ghana.

    AES is a non-vessel common carrier, which handles shippers’ exports of vehicles, including automobiles, trucks, and mobile industrial equipment via roll on/roll off vessel services from United States ports to various ports in West Africa.

    According to AES President, Mr. Pete Bottino, the appointment of Sifax, which takes effect from September 1, is a testimony of SIFAX Shipping’s track record of excellent service and ingenious business acumen that have seen the company work for some of the biggest clients in the industry.

  • SIFAX launches RORO at Ports & Cargo terminal

    SIFAX Group, a multinational corporation with diverse interests and operator of Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited terminal, Tin Can Island Port, Lagos, has launched its one-stop shop vehicle import service, aimed at transforming the Roll-in and Roll-out (RORO) industry into a model in Africa.

    The service, it was gathered, is a joint-venture between SIFAX Group, foremost international shipping agent, Auto Export Shipping (AES) and Hyundai Glovis, the logistics arm of Hyundai KIA Automotive Group.

    At the reception for the first vessel, MV Glovis Supreme, at the Ports & Cargo terminal, SIFAX Group Managing Director, Mr. John Jenkins, said the RORO service was part of the expansion strategy of the company, adding that its experience in handling such service in the past with its customer-focused philosophy have positioned it to make a success of the service.

    “SIFAX Group has a policy of exploring various opportunities to deepen our impact in the country’s economy. This partnership is designed to bring innovation, excellent service and unparalleled customer satisfaction to the RORO business in the country. Expansion of our service base is one of the key elements of SIFAX Group business strategy for 2016.

    “The service will be a one-stop shop one, which will include port terminal services, stevedoring, ship agency and off-dock services. I am happy to say that our partners, agents and consignees are in for a swell time due to the volume of preparations that has gone into this new business.” Hw said.

    In his speech, the Managing Director, Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited,  Alhaji Mohammed Bulangu, said that the terminal, is a multi-purpose terminal which can handle general cargo, containers and RORO vessels.

    “Over the years, we have come to do more of containerised cargo, even though this is a multi-purpose terminal. However, the reality of the current economic situation, the need to increase revenue base and business volume, employ more staff and deliver array of top-notch services, among others, have compelled us to resume our RORO services. The terminal has all the required facilities, equipment and manpower to meet and satisfy all expectations,” Bulangu said.

    Findings revealed that the new  service will connect five ports in the United States to Nigeria with a link of 19-day transit time. The route will connect Galveston, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Newmark, Boston, all in the United States of America to Lagos (Tin Can Island). Each vessel that will berth at the Ports and Cargo Terminal will import over 1,000 second hand cars and trucks. The maiden vessel, MV Glovis Supreme, came with 1,448 cars/vans and 88 trucks, making a total of 1,536 vehicles on her maiden voyage to the Lagos terminal.

  • Sifax donates bus to OAU

    Sifax Group, a multinational corporation with diverse interests in maritime, aviation, haulage and logistics, oil and gas and hospitality, has donated an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus to the medical students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife under the aegis of Ife University Medical Students Association (IFUMSA).

    Presenting the bus on the university campus, the Head, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Sifax Group, Mr. Oliver Omajuwa, said corporate social responsibility is at the core of the company’s business philosophy.

    He said: “Sifax Group has a philosophy of positively impacting the society. The company is not only about profit making but contributing its quota to the development of critical areas. One of such key areas for us is education. From primary school to the university level, Sifax Group has been supporting institutions through various avenues, especially the provision of infrastructure and equipment.

    “This bus donation is in furtherance of our belief that the private sector has an important role to play in the improvement of the quality of education in the country. We are particularly excited that this bus would be of great help to the medical students, in particular and the university as a whole.”

    The Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof Adesegun Fatusi, noted that universities need to build solid partnerships with various stakeholders in order to fulfil their objectives. These stakeholders, according to Fatusi, include corporate organisations, alumni, parents, students, and staff, among others. He said these partnerships are necessary in view of the inadequate allocations the universities receive from the governments.
