    Anzhi Makhachkala sign Lukman Haruna on loan

    Russian Premier League newcomers FC Anzhi Makhachkala have secured the signature of Nigeria international Lukman on loan from Dynamo Kiev.

    The former Golden Eaglets maestro has put pen to paper on a six – month contract which will see him remain at Anzhi Arena until December 31, 2015.

    This is a reunion of sorts for Lukman Haruna and manager Semin , who tutored him at Dynamo Kiev from 2011-2012.

    In his first words after the deal was completed, the central midfielder told his club’s official website: “I am very grateful to Yuri  because he invited me to Anzhi , I really like to work with him.

    “Glad to be here , and intend to do everything in my power to make the team finish the season in the top five . I hope that the upcoming season will be the best in my career.”

    The 24-year-old Lukman Haruna is tied to Dynamo Kiev until June 30, 2016.

    Kano Pillars have reinforced the squad with additional two players ahead of the resumption of the Glo Premier League.

    SportingLife reports that Sai Masu Gida signed the duo of Ali Gandu, a midfielder from Wikki Tourirts and Abubakar Lawan, a striker from Sokoto United.

    The club’s media officer, Idris Malikawa who confirmed the report said the players have since resumed with his side during the week nine transfer window.

    Malikawa said the addition is necessary to balance the squad available in the team.

    “We have three new players in the team right now. We signed two players while we have one player on loan. Barnabas Imenger is on loan from Lobi Stars while we have signed Ali Gandu and Abubakar Lawan on a permanent deal from Wikki Tourists and Sokoto United,” Malikawa told SportingLife.

    The league resume on Sunday with week 11 fixtures after three weeks break but Pillars will play Warri Wolves on Monday.

    “We are preparing well for Warri Wolves game on Monday. We want to start the league with good result because we want to return to the top. We have used the break to re-organise the team and trained well. The technical crew is doing everything possible to bring out the best in the team. I believe at the end of the season we can win the league again,” Malikawa said.

    Wikki Tourists sign 15 new players

    The management of Wikki Tourists FC, Bauchi have approved the engagement of 15 new players after screening and training for a month as recommended by the newly contracted technical adviser of the club, Abdu Maikaba.

    The media officer of the club, Usman Abba Shehu revealed that the technical reports by Maikaba to the management recommended two new goalkeepers, Haliru Sani from El-Kanemi Warriors and Zaharadeen Usman from Direct Sport Solution, Kaduna.

    Also approved by the management are five defenders namely Nura Moh’d from Kano Pillars, Peter Ambrose from Kaduna United, Maurice Chigozie from Gombe United, Abdullahi Musa from FCT Abuja and Habibu Yakubu also from FC Heart of Abuja.

    The report also confirmed four successful midfielders and four attackers which include: Hassan Hussaini from Gombe United, Nafiu Bala from El-Kanemi Warrior, Mattias Samuel from Gombe United, Kabiru Baba Isa from Sportslight, Katsina. The attackers are Haruna Babalo from Gombe United, Idris Sabo, Sportlight, Katsina, Osas Ola from Kogi United and Abdul-Majeed Sulaiman from Yankari Babes, Bauchi.

    The Chairman of the club  Suleman Chindo, praised the technical adviser for a job well done and assured him that the management would work hand in hand with the technical crew to ensure a good outing in the 2014/2015 premier league season.

    Chindo, however, expressed confidence on the newly contracted players based on the way and manner they displayed their skills and discipline during the screening and training.

    He also assured that the management will do everything  possible to attend to their welfare and entitlements to ensure success and justify the team’s return to the premier league, which is their rightful place. While commending the Bauchi State government under Governor Isa Yuguda for its morale and financial support during the 2013/2014 National League season which made it possible to gain promotion to the premier league, Chindo urged the government to make funds available to the team in order to clear and register the newly contracted players so as to start the season on a good note.

    Maikaba  expressed delight with the management for giving him the opportunity to serve the team in the 2014/2015 premier league season.

    He said he believes he will enjoy good working relationship with  the management, supporters and of course the players and assured that with the calibre of players he recommended to the management and the 17 old players, Wikki Tourist will be among the best first three teams in the 2014/2015 league season.

    He warned the players to be up and doing to justify their appointment and that he will not tolerate any act of indiscipline from any player .

  • Varsity, ACCA sign MoU

    Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of Nigeria, (ACCA).

    Its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Valentine Aletor said the MoU was in fulfillment of the promise that the university would do the needful and lawful to give students an edge. With the pact, in addition to their degrees, Aletor said students would get a globally-recognised professional certification.

    He urged the students to use the numerous opportunities that the university has provided for them. In her remarks, Head of Nigeria Office of the Association, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ademola said ACCA was partnering with Elizade University because of its uniqueness.

    She added that the association was attracted by the aspiration of the university to become a leading citadel of learning in Nigeria, Africa and the entire world.

    Mrs. Ademola emphasised the readiness of the Association to produce brand ambassadors for both parties.

  • ITF, OGFTZA sign MoU on vocational training

    The Director-General, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Dr. Juliet Chukkas-Onaeko, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Authority (OGFTZA), Onne, Port Harcourt in Abuja.

    The deal is for collection of contributions for capacity building.

    The ITF boss observed that the   country’s population is growing very fast, and that there was need to harness this potential.

    She said the shortage of technical and vocational skills is constraining enterprise development and restricting employment,

    “Evidence from developed and emerging economies show that requisite expertise constitute a key platform for attaining sustainable economic improvement, which could only be accomplished by a properly planned and implementable system of education and training. In spite of the different governments’ interventions, it is evident that the nation is nevertheless grappling with shortage of skills,” she said.

    She noted that Nigeria does not have the expertise, and that the ITF had proffered options that would address the weaknesses and bridge the capabilities without which it would be hard for Nigeria to  industrialise.

    The Managing Director of OGFTZA, Hon. Alabo Victor, said the free trade zones were designed to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the oil and gas sector. He said the oil and gas free trade zones had been active and attracted main oil field operations.

    Hon. Victor pointed out that Onne Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone attracted more than 200 businesses operating in different statuses, ranging from oil service companies, projects, manufacturing and processing, banking and so on.

    Through the official channel, Greece Super League side Skoda Xanthi have announced the acquisition of Christian Obodo, without disclosing the financial terms and duration of contract.

    The once-upon-a-time Nigeria international arrives the Skoda Xanthi Arena as a free agent after his contract with Portuguese S.C. Olhanense was not prolonged when it ran out at the end of last season.

    The central midfielder started his career in his homeland with Plateau United before his switch to Italy where he first teamed up with Perugia before a celebrated move to Fiorentina.

    A great part of his professional career was spent at Udinese, whom he represented for seven seasons, from 2005 – 2012.

    Obodo has sported the jerseys of Torino, Lecce, Dinamo Minsk in the past.

    The 30-year-old could make his unofficial debut this Saturday when Skoda Xanthi trade tackles with AEK in a tuneup game.

    Nigeria U20 goalkeeper Dele Alampasu is set to sign a pre-contract with Belgian club Racing Genk on Sunday.

    A top source close to the former Nigeria U-17 shot stopper informed AfricanFootball.com that he is waiting for his agent to join him in Belgium for his contract negotiations to be finalised.

    He is expected to sign a professional contract when he turns 18 on Christmas eve.

    Alampasu, who was on the final squad to the 2014 CHAN in South Africa, first tried out with Genk before a freak training ground accident cut short his stint with the club as he suffered a knee injury that required surgery.

    The player’s agent Sunday Orelaga has always maintained that Genk are keen to sign the tall goalkeeper even though the club’s management has been overhauled.

    Experienced premier league players, Musa Najare, Musa Kunde  and Moses Udoh are top of the list of 12 new players signed by Lobi Stars ahead of the second stanza of the Glo Premier League.

    Besides Najere, who joined the Makurdi side from Warri Wolves, Lobi also have enlisted Efosa Ikhimin, Shauibu Amadu and Uche Ilo to add steel to the attacking options.

    The club also added John Otene, Adams Ilo and Musa Kunde to the midfield while Samson Gbadebo, Bright Essien, Moses Udoh and Lucky Talmel have also been recruited to shore up the defence and serve as cover to the goalkeepers in the team’s rank.

    Disclosing this information to SportingLife, Lobi Stars’ Team Manager, Barnabas Imenger, said  the new players have been carefully picked after painstaking effort from the club’s coaches and input from other stakeholders in the team.

    Imenger, a striker of repute during his playing days for the Super Eagles, assured that Lobi Stars would have an improved performance than they did in the first stanza based on the new players they have signed.

    “We have brought in players that we know will improve our  position at the end of the season. The good thing is that they are all from premier league sides which means they won’t be short of experience at all,” Imenger told SportingLife.

  • Obasi to sign pre-contract with Deportivo

    Nigeria youth international Chigozie Obasi has departed Lagos for Spain on an Iberia Airline flight to resume training with La Liga newcomers, Deportivo La Coruña.

    This is the second time in the last few months that the Under-17 World Cup winner will be travelling to Spain, having first practiced with the Brancoazuis in May.

    ”I am going to begin pre-season training with Deportivo La Coruña but this time I don’t plan to come back. Hopefully, I sign a pre-contract with the club when I get there.

    ”I was impressed with the facilities I met on ground during my first visit to the club. The officials of the club and my teammates welcomed me well.

    ”My agent Oliver Noah advised me to choose this club because they have a good plan for me, to make me even a better player,” Chigozie Obasi told SL10.ng.

    Before the 16-year-old accepted the proposal from Deportivo La Coruña, Recreativo de Huelva, Real Avilés and Auxerre were sniffing around him.

    The central midfielder suited up two times for the Golden Eaglets at the last FIFA Under-17s, playing in games against Iran and Iraq.

    Heartland have completed the signing of former Gombe United defender, MacMarcel Obioha.

    Obioha told supersport.com that he only wanted a “change of environment” having spent the past six years with the Savannah Scorpions.

    “I played for Gombe United for six years and needed a change of environment,” he said. I’m happy Heartland showed interest because they are my hometown club and the club that gave me my big break.

    “I see it as a call to serve my people and I promise to give my best.”

    Obioha dismissed media reports that he was off-loaded by Gombe United.

    “There was a report in one sports publication that I was among those asked to leave. There is no truth in the report as they did their best to keep me.

    “This move (to Heartland) had been on for the past two weeks. I only decided to make it public after I received my clearance. In the past three seasons I had been close to moving to Sunshine Stars and Enugu Rangers, but Gombe refused to clear me.

    “I had a good relationship with the management, and I was surprised to see such a report,” he told supersport.com.

    Obioha began his career with Heartland in 2006, and also played for Delta Force before joining Gombe United in 2008.
