    Premium vodka brand, Smirnoff, with the unveiling of a nationwide party tour set to take the party scene by storm tagged ‘the Smirnoff X1 Tour’; the tour as revealed by the organiser intends to take over Nigeria’s night life with eight epic nights in seven cities within eight months.

    During the press unveiling at Bungalow Restaurant, Ikeja, Smirnoff Vodka brand Ambassador, DJ Spinall, and other performing artists – Illbliss, Zoro, Yung L– treated members of the press to a glimpse of what to expect during the Tour, which kicked off in Owerri on Saturday 28th October at the Imo International Trade and Investment Center.

    Other tour stops include, DJ Spinall’s album launch, Abuja, Benin, Port Harcourt, Jos, Ibadan and the final stop in Lagos.

    According to Smirnoff Brand Manager, Toluwalashe Ogunyemi, ‘The Smirnoff X1 Tour will roll into every city with the X1 Intense Chocolate vodka, the newest addition to the Smirnoff family. We want party rockers in each city to show why their city is the destination for an epic turn up.     Tagged ‘The Smirnoff X1 Tour’, the brand’s management reveals that the intention is to take over Nigeria’s night life with eight epic nights in seven cities within eight months.

    DJ Garber is Smirnoff’s first female DJ

    As its own way of celebrating the international Women’s Day, vodka brand, Smirnoff kicked off its #SMIRNOFFX1FEMALEDJ initiative.
    According to its management, the initiative is an extension of its global commitment to encourage the doubling of the number of female headliners by 2020.
    With the objective of encouraging a new generation of female DJs in Nigeria and promoting the brand’s advocacy for inclusivity, Smirnoff’s Brand ambassador DJ Spinall called out to female DJs across Nigeria to take part in the #SMIRNOFFX1FEMALEDJ contest by sending videos of themselves showcasing their turntable skills.
    Out of hundreds of entries received for the social media contest, Smirnoff selected the top five entries which were then narrowed down to three finalists based on the videos with the most hits.
    The top three finalists; DJ Moonlait, DJ Frizzle and DJ Garber performed alongside brand Spinall and DJ Lambo at the Smirnoff house party, International Women’s day edition, held in Jos.
    All of the top 3 finalists brought down the house with their turn table skills as they wowed the Jos crowd.
    As the final selection stage of the initiative, the top two female DJs, DJ Moonlait and DJ Garber took part in another social media contest where DJ Garber emerged the winner.
    Announcing Garber as the winner of the #SMIRNOFFX1FEMALEDJ contest, the management of Smirnoff mentioned that Garber will be performing at five Smirnoff house parties across Nigeria.
    She will also get an MTV Base profiling feature courtesy Smirnoff Vodka and as her ultimate reward, DJ Garber will be performing alongside her idol, DJ Spinall at Smirnoff’s The Lab event holding in New York this April.

  • DJ SPINALL RENEWS CONTRACT WITH SMIRNOFF

    POPULAR Nigerian Disc Jockey, Sodamola Oluseye Desmond, aka DJ Spinall, has renewed his contract with Smirnoff; making it his second contract with the Vodka Company.

    Making the announcement via his Instagram page, he wrote; “Grateful to God! I did it again with the Best Vodka in the world … Brand Ambassador for Smirnoff – contract renewed.”

    The multiple award-winning DJ is the first Nigerian DJ to be endorsed by any brand in Africa and the first African DJ to tour the United States.

    Present at the signing of the contract at Guinness Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos were Gavin Pike, Marketing and Innovation Director Guinness Nigeria, Adenike Adebola , Portfolio Director Spirit and Tobi Sanni Daniel, RTD Guinness Nigeria.

    Smirnoff, the iconic premium spirit brand from the stable of Diageo Nigeria Plc has announced DJ Spinall as its brand ambassador.

    The signing of the ace DJ took place at Guinness Nigeria Headquarters in Lagos as part of activities to further entrench the brand among its esteemed consumers.

    Smirnoff, renowned as the world’s number one party brand recently launched a new variant labeled Smirnoff Guarana at a thrilling Double Side party that took place at the Auto-Max Car care shop in Oregun, Lagos.

    Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ms. Liz Ashdown, the Head-Marketing, Spirits and RTD, Guinness Nigeria Plc, explained the rationale behind the choice of DJ Spinall as its brand ambassador in Nigeria.

    “Smirnoff is recognised worldwide as the world premium vodka drink and also the world’s most renowned party brand where high energy parties are occasioned,” Ashdown said.

    “The party experience gets more exciting when you have the right kind of music. DJ Spinall has demonstrated over time that he understands the essence of excitement as far as parties and gatherings are concerned.”

    The official unveiling of DJ Spinall as the Smirnoff Brand Ambassador later took place at the Industry Nite held at Spice Route where “The CAP” himself was behind the wheels of steel. Performances from frontline artistes – Mr. Incredible M.I, Wande Coal, Burna Boy and Iyanya – added glam to the event as the guests were left asking for more.

    Smirnoff, the world’s number one vodka from the stables of Diageo Brands Nigeria has launched its new variant, Smirnoff Ice Double Black with Guarana amidst fan fare. The Double Side launch party was the first of its kind in Nigeria as guests were welcomed to an unconventional venue for a party- a thriving auto workshop turned into a party venue. Arriving at the venue located in Lagos, guests were eager to experience the uniqueness and dynamics of taking the party to such an unusual venue.

    Smirnoff Ice Guarana combines refreshing and invigorating taste of Smirnoff Vodka blended with Soda and extracts of Guarana. It joins the existing Smirnoff family of Smirnoff Vodka and Smirnoff Ice Red.

    Unveiling the brand, the Head of Marketing, Spirits and RTD, Liz Ashdown said Guinness Nigeria is driven by innovation and the company is committed to launching products that meet more of their consumers’ needs and occasions.

    “Smirnoff Ice Guarana has been produced to satisfy the quest of our younger consumers, who are of the legal drinking age and want to make less obvious choices because that’s what makes their nights better and more memorable. The refreshing taste of this new Smirnoff variant is the outcome of an extensive research that resulted in the right blend of the best ingredients,” Liz Ashdown said.

    Regarding the possibilities of the new variant putting sales pressure on the existing variants, Ashdown explained that “we have provided consumers with greater choice and with a drink that is more relevant for higher tempo occasions than many other offerings in the market.”

    “The #doubleside idea is the celebration of an alternative side of life -be that of places doubling as something more epic or oneself that is more expressive and open to new experiences. The double side party brought this to life through the unexpected performances and location – an auto workshop doubling as a party venue at night,” Ashdown noted.

    The Smirnoff team also hinted of plans to carry out a series of consumer activities across major cities for the product launch starting from July through December 2015.

    The highpoint of the occasion was exhilarating performances from Mr. Incredible, M.I Abaga, Terry G, Kola Soul and ace disc jockeys D.J Spinall and D.J Nana who kept the party crowd going all night.

    Among the artistes at the event were Eva, Olamide, Goldie, Vector, Ice Prince and DJ Spin’all who took charge of the wheel of steeel.

    Live performances by three of the hottest up and coming artists in Nigeria, Davido, Danny Crane and Olamide and great music from DJ Spin’all were features of a VIP night party unveiling this year’s Smirnoff Midnight Circus. It was held last Friday at N-tyce Club, on the Lagos Island for the media, stakeholders and Smirnoff fans as well as guests who were given a chance to learn the art of mixing drink.

    Marketing Director, Guinness Nigeria PLC, Austin Ufomba, said: “As always, Smirnoff brings the best in international nightlife to entertain its fans and with these themed events, we are once again pushing the boundaries of the party experience to ensure a night Nigerians will never forget.
