    Aluko undergoes fitness test

Nigerian forward Sone Aluko who is currently nursing a calf problem as well as his Hull City teammate Robbie Brady (hernia) underwent a fitness test yesterday ahead of today’s game against Sunderland.

Aluko, who missed the double header against Tottenham Hotspurs in the League and Capital One, however remains doubtful for the clash at the KC Stadium even as Manager Steve Bruce admitted that both Aluko and Brady have less than 50-50 chance of playing today.

There are, however, some cheering news for coach Bruce as he faces his former club with the green light that midfielder Jake Livermore is back into his squad for this home game against Sunderland.

Livermore was ineligible for the double-header against Tottenham Hotspur due to him being on loan from the White Hart Lane club but returns to the fold to boost an already healthy list of central midfield options which also includes a fit again Robert Koren.

Information from the Tigers’ official website also indicates Tom Huddlestone, Maynor Figueroa and Yannick Sagbo will all be pushing for recalls after being on the bench in midweek, while Abdoulaye Faye is also fit to play after recovering from a calf problem.

Sone Aluko is reportedly closing in on a new deal with his current employers Hull City.

The Nigeria international is reportedly eager to sign on for longer spell even though his current contract has another 12 months to run.

“We have just started talking. The focus is on games and getting fit again. I am sure it will get done.

“No doubt it will drag on, as negotiations do, but I am relaxed about it. It’s football so nothing would surprise you but I am sure it will get done, “futaa.com quoted Aluko as saying on express.co.uk

City boss, Steve Bruce, who gave Aluko his debut at Birmingham aged 16, is also eager to tie the Nigerian down to a new deal in a bid to replace the current one which runs out by the end of the current season.

  • Sone Aluko tipped to be Premier League Hit

Nigeria international Sone Aluko has been tipped to be a hit in the Premier League by Hull City manager Steve Bruce.

It was Steve Bruce that convinced Aluko to sign a two – year contract with the Tigers last summer.

Though injury curtailed his progress this term, he still finished the season with a good scoring ration, netting 8 goals in 22 starts.

“He’s the type of player that gets you up off your seat and, as I said a few times last season, he’s one you’d pay good money to watch.

“It’ll be exciting to watch him in the Premier League I’m sure, but fingers crossed he gets a good pre-season under his belt and he’s ready for it,” Bruce was quoted as saying by thisishullandeastriding.co.uk.

Hull City last played in the Premier League three seasons ago.
