    SPAR Nigeria has won the Outstanding Retail Brand of the Year award at the sixth Marketing Edge Brands and Advertising Excellence Awards in Lagos.

    The award is in recognition of its  service delivery and contribution to the retail sector.

    SPAR Nigeria Head of Marketing,  John Goldsmith, said: “SPAR Nigeria is delighted to be recognised as the Outstanding Retail Brand of the Year.

    SPAR is deeply grateful to the Marketing Edge, the organisers of the awards for putting together a magnificent platform for brands to be recognised.

    ‘’We are humbled by this award and see it as an incentive to serve our customers better. It means a lot, especially to the members of staff; these are the people who have built the brands. It’s not a prize for one department, it’s for the entire organisation and we see it as a real honour.”

    Shoppers to enjoy free Wifi service at SPAR

    SPAR Nigeria has taken its service delivery a notch higher with the introduction of Free Internet services in its stores nationwide.

    The project, which kicked off yesterday, began at the Ilupeju branch of the Hypermarket and will be implemented across stores nationwide in the coming weeks.

    The free Wifi service is being rolled out using KonneXion Wifi engine in partnership with Internet Solutions Nigeria Limited (ISN) andMelvic Gold Communications (MGC) who have ensured that service will be available to any shoppers using a smartphone, tablet or a laptop that has built-in Wi-Fi

    SPAR’s spokesperson Mr. John Goldsmith explaines: ”We are glad to announce the launch of Free Wi Fi service from SPAR Ilupeju store. We are sure the Free Wifi service is in line with our shopper expectation and it will surely delight our shoppers and add joy to their shopping experience.”

    The Wifi routers are placed in strategic locations inside the store so that shoppers can enjoy a seamless browsing experience in each and every corner of the store. We have done an extensive heat mapping of the shopper flow inside our stores and identified the best locations to deploy the routers. As it happens in all product and service launches, we too will go through a learning phase which will help us fine tune service to deliver superior connectivity for all our shoppers.”

    Shoppers will need to complete a one-time registration with their email address after which they will be able to use a maximum of 30 minutes of FREE Wifi daily. Shoppers can come every day and use Free Wi-Fi for 30 minutes which is a fair approximation to time spent in the store.

    According to Internet Solutions’ Chief Innovation Officer, Mr. Tosin Odulami, this partnership with SPAR Nigeria is a welcome development because it brings us closer to the people and shoppers can look forward to hitchless Wifi experience on our platform while shopping at all SPAR stores nationwide.”

    One of the core pillars of SPAR is customer service which comprises of any aspect an aspiring customer expect from a modern retail store. In Africa’s emerging economy, free Wifi is one of such value-adding services that shoppers especially the youth segment looks for in any place of shopping location.

    SPAR hosts musical concerts to celebrate Wine, Spirits, Beer festival

    Nigeria’s leading chain of Hypermarket Stores and organizers of the Wine Spirits and Beer Festival, SPAR Nigeria has brought its exciting Drinks festival to a memorable and resounding halt with five power packed musical concerts across the country.

    As a part of the Wine, Spirits and Beer Festival 2017, SPAR Nigeria treated shoppers across Enugu, Calabar, Port Harcourt and Lagos to packed musical concerts parading favourite artists and performers.

    The leading hypermarket partnered with major Spirits and Beer brands namely Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Campari, Guinness and Nigerian Breweries for the concerts.

    The anchor brands ensured the line-up of major artistes; Smirnoff anchored the musical concerts in Enugu and Calabar with major artist such as DJ Spinall, Ill Bliss, Zoro, Slowdogs and MI to a resounding crowd.

    The musical event in Port Harcourt was co-hosted by Campari which drew large crowds. 2baba, Duncan Mighty, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Kelly Handsome, Harrysong alongside a host of other artistes entertained the crowd to the wee hours of the night.

    Courtesy the anchor brands, guests were treated to exotic cocktails, drinks and tasty finger foods as they enjoyed the best hits from their favorite artists.

    The entry to concerts was linked to purchase of a specific brand of Spirits and Beer from SPAR stores during the 6 weeks long Wine, Spirits and Beer Festival. The Entry passes were also awarded to the winners of the online contest on the various participating brands.

    Alongside SPAR, all major sponsors of the concerts expressed delight at both the turnout and profound patronage by shoppers throughout the festival. Though hosted individually with SPAR, the brands agreed that collaboration will continue to play a major role in modern retail.

    SPAR hosts first premium drinks festival

    SPAR Nigeria says it will continue to create exciting times in the first-ever ongoing Wine, Spirits and Beer Festival  across four states in the country.

    The festival, which began last month, is aimed at celebrating premium international and local drink brands in the country. It will end later this month.

    The festival, which is geared towards reaching out to consumers in a very interactive and engaging way, offers a unique opportunity for networking between brands and consumers.

    For SPAR customers, entry into the festival is free but tied to purchase of some items from SPAR stores around the location.

    The six-week-long festival will culminate in four musical concerts to be held in the SPAR premises across Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Calabar.

    As part of activities to mark the festival, there will be instant gratifications, such as massive discounts, gifts and freebies on all purchases made across Hypermarkets nationwide.

    Being the first of its kind, many brands will be on the ground to educate consumers about the various drinks and spirits, product offerings, unique properties of each product, drinking etiquettes, food pairing, responsible drinking, free product sampling and more.

    Speaking on the significance of the festival, SPAR spokesperson o, Mr. John Goldsmith, expressed appreciation to the hypermarket’s “loyal” shoppers for the trust vested in store.

    “When people from different background and works of life consistently come through our doors nationwide and have their shopping needs met, it drives us to do our best in giving them undisputable value for their monies spent,’’ he said.

    Goldsmith further noted that the Hypermarket hopes to make Wine, Spirits & Beer Festival a yearly event in the country.

    “In the coming year, we would like to make it more appealing and engaging for the brands as well as for the consumers,” he stated.

    Also, SPAR’s partnership with leading brands in the wine, spirits and beer industry for the Musical concerts will see a convergence of some of the big names in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
