    Adesina nominated for Chieftaincy award

    The Special Adviser to the President on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has been nominated for chieftaincy title by Igwe Cyprian Nevobasi, the Igwe Omeluenyi 1 of Aguneese, Ezeani 111 of Nmaku Kingdom, Enugu State.

    This was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Director (Press) in the State House, Attah Essa.

    The statement reads “Like the proverbial handshake across the Niger, honour is headed the way of Mr Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.

    “Igwe Cyprian Nevobasi, the Igwe Omeluenyi 1 of Aguneese, Ezeani 111 of Nmaku Kingdom, Enugu State, has nominated Adesina for a chieftaincy title, as part of the 1st Grand Ofala to mark his 14 years on the throne, next month.

    “The Igwe was personally at the State House, Abuja, to present the nomination letter to the Special Adviser on Media on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.”

    He disclosed that his traditional cabinet chose Adesina “because of the good work you have been doing for the country. President Muhammadu Buhari is God-sent, to bring change to Nigeria, and you have been supporting him in the assignment, to the admiration of myself and my cabinet members.”

    The Igwe said he looked forward to a positive response from the nominee, noting that his first Ofala festival in 14 years promised to be a grand event.

    With Igwe Nevobasi during the visit were Hon USA Igwesi, a former member of the House of Representatives, and Chief Emmanuel Okeke.

    Adesina thanked the Igwe, his entire kingdom, and members of the delegation, saying:”I am simply short of words.”

    Adesina hails Nigerians for prayers, goodwill to Buhari

    The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Thursday commended Nigerians for the outpouring of prayers and show of goodwill to President Muhammadu Buhari since he returned to the country.

    He made the remark while receiving a delegation of well-wishers to the President, led by Amb. Eze N. Ebere, at the State House, Abuja.

    Adesina, in a statement by the Deputy Director (Information), State House, Attah Esa, said President Buhari deeply appreciated the prayers during his ill health, and after his recovery, from both the Christian and Muslim communities.

    The Special Adviser also said the positive reviews on the President’s handling of conflicts in various parts of the country had been most encouraging for the administration, noting that the President remains focused in serving Nigerians, and ensuring an improvement in the lives of all.

    “The President really appreciates all the prayers, and will like to say a big thank you for your support for his leadership style and handling of the conflicts,’’ he said.

    Adesina assured the delegation of the President’s commitment and transparent leadership style, promising to deliver a letter brought by the group.

    In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, who is also the National Patron of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), said the association remains thankful to God for restoring the health of the President.

    “We are here to commend the President over his leadership style, especially the way he handled the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issue, and others, by ensuring that peace is restored across Nigeria,’’ Ebere said.

    He pledged the association’s continued support for President Buhari’s administration.

    The Justice of the Peace, an association, gave Adesina a special recognition as a “Peace Conservator’’.

    Adesina mourns former CPS to Abacha, David Attah

    The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has described the news of the passing of Chief David Ogaba Attah, former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, as a huge loss to the nation and the media industry.

    In a condolence message to the Attah family, Adesina lauded Chief Attah’s distinguished service to the nation as a journalist, politician and opinion leader.

    The Presidential Spokesman, in a statement by the Deputy Director (Information), Attah Esa, noted that the Benue-born veteran journalist, not only carved a niche for himself in the course of his journalism career, he was also a strong voice in the nation’s political terrain during his stint in the House of Representatives in the Second Republic.

    Adesina said that the Ondoma of Idomaland will be long remembered for his candid views, measured and mature contributions to national discourse.

    He enjoined media professionals and colleagues to draw inspiration from the career of Chief Attah, while urging the family of the departed to take solace in the knowledge that their father lived a fulfilled life.

    On behalf of current and former presidential spokespersons, Adesina prayed that Almighty God will comfort the bereaved family, friends and associates, and grant the soul of Chief Attah peaceful rest.

    Abuah’s death traumatized us, says Adesina

    The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi‎ Adesina on Wednesday said that the death of the State House’s Director of Information,Mr Justin Onuorah Abuah was traumatic.

    Abuah, who served at the State House for thirty years, died on Sunday‎ August 14th after a brief illness.

    Leading the Media Department, State House Press Corps and Protocol Department to visit Abuah’s widow, Loretta and three children, Chinedum, Chike and Amaechi and other family member, Adesina noted that Abuah was very competent and excellent in his job.

    He said, “Words failed me to actually describe him (Abuah), when he passed the first thing that came to mind was that a competent man has gone. He related well with many people.

    “He was an excellent man and did his job excellently. His passage is trauma to us, we realize it is a road all mortals must pass through but we would have felt better if it didn’t happen now.

    “When we come and go are in the hands of God. At 57 he was not an old man, he lived a very quality life. We urge you to keep his memory alive. Be comforted and be consoled”.

    He said that the State House would love to be fully involved in Abuah’s burial plans.

    Also on the visit, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu described Abuah as‎ a pillar of support, an icon of emulation and a unique individual who served seven presidents.

    ‎According to him, they were just beginning to learn from Abuah how his uniqueness made him serve seven‎ presidents.

    Stressing that they were initially angry that ‎his ill-health was not known to them until his passage, Shehu said that Abuah is a kind of person who didn’t like to bother others about his pain.

    He said: “‎We feel a sense of loss over a man who has served seven Presidents with dedication. We lost a pillar of support, an icon of emulation.‎ We were just learning about him, we felt angry we were not in the know of his ill-health but we found out that he is a man who did not like to bother anybody with his pains”.

    The Chairman of the State House Press Corps, Kehinde Amodu, said the corp will miss a man of integrity whose yes was yes and no was no.

    He noted that a man of his calibre will be difficult to replace.

    “He was a senior colleague. His yes was yes and his no was no. He was firmed and truthful and a man of integrity. He was a quiet and private person but he knew everyone individually, we are 109 journalists in the State House and he knew everyone individually. We will miss him; I don’t think he can be replaced”.

    Responding on behalf the family, ‎Arnold Abuah, a‎ retired commissioner of police and medical doctor, described his brother as a man of integrity.

    He said the illness that eventually took his brother’s life was only known to Abuah, his wife and his son.

    He thanked the delegation for coming.

    Buhari begins vacation, hands over to Osinbajo

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday began a five day vacation, the presidency has said.

    This is contained in a statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

    According to the statement, President Buhari, who is expected to be away from Friday, February 5th to Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 has handed over to Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

    The statement noted that Prof. Osinbajo will begin to carry out the duties of the president while Buhari’s vacation lasts.

    It reads in part: “In compliance with section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.”
