    Amuzie begins training with Sampdoria

    Dream Team VI defender, Stanley Amuzie, trained with his new Sampdoria team mates for the first time on Tuesday.

    Amuzie joined Marco Giampaolo’s side for an undisclosed fee from Olhanense last week, Goal reports.

    After passing his medicals on Monday, the defender joined new signing Luka Krajnc at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa, to train with the team.

    He could feature in Saturday’s Serie A clash with AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

    Dream Team’s Amuzie undergoes surgery in Italy

    Dream Team VI defender, Stanley Amuzie, has undergone a major knee surgery at his base in Italy and will be out of action for at least nine months.

    Top officials informed africanFootball.com that the full back ruptured his cruciate ligaments during a CAF U-23 Championship qualifier against Congo in Pointe Noire earlier this month.

    The injury forced him out of the match after just 25 minutes of action.

    Amuzie, who joined Italian club Sampdoria after his contract at Sassuolo ended, has been one of the standout performers in the Olympic Team managed by Samson Siasia.

    Dream Team’s Amuzie out for nine months

    Italian club Sampdoria has confirmed that Dream Team VI defender, Stanley Amuzie, ruptured his cruciate ligament in a CAF Championship qualifier in Congo and will be out for nine months.

    Initial scans in Abuja revealed that the talented wingback, who is in Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh’s immediate plans, damaged his cruciate ligament by the time he was pulled out of the second leg qualifier against Congo in Pointe Noire, africanFootball.com reports.

    The injury forced him to be replaced by Chima Akas after only 25 minutes of action.

    “Sampdoria has confirmed initial findings that Amuzie ruptured his cruciate ligament, it’s a similar injury a player like Osaze (Odemwingie) suffered last season at Stoke City,” a top official told africanFootball.com

    “As a result of this, the player will be out for a minimum of nine months, which will include his rehabilitation after surgery.”

    Olympic Team’s Amuzie ‘seriously injured’

    Dream Team VI defender, Stanley Amuzie, suffered a “serious and complicated” knee injury during last weekend crucial CAF U-23 Championship clash in Congo,  officials told africanFootball.com

    The Sampdoria of Italy wingback was forced out of the second leg match in Pointe Noire and replaced by Chima Akas as a result of this injury.

    A scan has been done on the injury to determine the extent of the severity, officials added.

    Interestingly, Amuzie, who was outstanding in the first leg match in Port Harcourt which Nigeria won 2-1, has been penciled down for invitation by Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.

    The team which sent packing Congo to qualify for the CAF U23 Championship in Senegal, is also sweating on the fitness of Warri Wolves forward, Oghenekaro Etebo.

    Etebo has been nursing a long-term knee injury which may now need surgery.
