    Starwood hospitality management group in Nigeria with hotels such as  Sheraton Lagos and Abuja, Four Point by Sheraton, Le Meridien     have put together an enriching package which includes Suhur and Iftar Buffet offers, with discounts.

    Marriott International, Inc. and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, have announced a merger agreement between the two top hospitality management  companies.. Under the merger, the companies will create the world’s largest hotel company.  The transaction combines Starwood’s leading lifestyle brands and international footprint with Marriott’s strong presence in the luxury and select-service tiers, as well as the convention and resort segment, creating a more comprehensive portfolio.  The merged company will offer broader choice for guests, greater opportunities for associates and should unlock additional value for Marriott and Starwood shareholders.  Combined, the companies operate or franchise more than 5,500 hotels with 1.1 million rooms worldwide.  The combined company’s pro forma fee revenue for the 12 months ended September 30, this year totals over $2.7 billion.

    Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has announced expansion in Africa and Indian Ocean , increasing its market penetration across the region. The company has a strong footprint with 34 operating hotels and has another 20 hotels under development.

    With the expansion of its luxury, upper upscale and mid-market brands, Starwood will grow its portfolio by over 50 per cent in the next five years, with more than 50 hotels operating and nine out of its 10 compelling lifestyle brands flying their flag in the region.

    “The momentum of growth we are seeing in Africa today is unprecedented.  It is a reiteration of the trust our owners have in us, the power of our distinct lifestyle brands and the strength of our global distribution and award-winning loyalty programme,” said Michael Wale, President for Starwood, Europe, Africa and Middle East. “Africa is a market with huge potential. With economic growth, a rising middle class and rapid urbanization, the demand for travel and quality lodging will continue to grow and provide us with a significant opportunity to grow our brands and play our part in supporting many emerging markets across the continent.”

    Reaffirming its commitment to growth in the region, the company announced seven new deals, including W Sharm El Sheikh and The Residences at W Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt),Sheraton Bamako (Mali), The Westin Abuja and Residences (Nigeria),Four Points by Sheraton Abuja and Residences (Nigeria),Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport (Kenya), Aloft Dakar (Senegal), and Element Oyster Bay Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). With the new signings, Starwood will further build its position in Nigeria and Egypt, increase its presence in Senegal and enter new markets which include Mali, Kenya and Tanzania.

    Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has introduced Sheraton 2020, a comprehensive 10-point plan designed to put Sheraton Hotels and Resorts firmly back into the global spotlight. Sheraton 2020, a nod to the plan’s clear five year vision, includes a new $100 million Sheraton-focused marketing campaign; the launch of the new premier tier,Sheraton Grand; continuous innovation of the Sheraton guest experience; an unwavering commitment to service excellence; the implementation of revenue and profit-driving initiatives to benefit owners and developers; and a goal of opening more than 150 new Sheraton hotels worldwide by 2020.

    “Sheraton is Starwood’s largest, and most global brand, with a nearly 80-year history as a pioneer and true beacon of hospitality around the world,” said Adam Aron, Starwood CEO on an interim basis. “With Sheraton 2020, we are marshalling the formidable might, muscle and creativity of our organization, which has famously distinguished itself as the industry’s premier brand builder and innovator.     According to Dave Marr, Global Brand Leader for Sheraton, work is well underway on Sheraton 2020 with initiatives scheduled to roll out as soon as June and a new brand positioning and global advertising campaign launching in September of this year. “Sheraton 2020 was created with an eye toward maximizing value for owners’ assets, and we thought it was important to share our plans first with them while at the NYU Hospitality Conference,” said Marr. “Our teams around the world are already hard at work to swiftly and consistently execute against this action plan.”

  • Starwood forges ahead

    The Starwood group, owners of Sheraton, Le Meridien, Four Point by Sheraton, has announced a new partnership with Uber, accelerating Starwood Preferred Guests, SPG, members’ drive to great experiences.

    This exclusive partnership between SPG and Uber builds on the success of previous partnerships with Emirates Skywards, Delta SkyMiles and Caesars Entertainment, as SPG continues to enhance their members’ holistic travel experience beyond the hotel room.

    The group has properties in 72% of the cities where Uber services are offered around the world, giving them the ability to provide a seamless travel experience for their members in and out of stay.

    With this partnership, SPG members can link their SPG and Uber accounts, and after completing one qualifying stay in 2015, will earn one Starpoint for every 1 USD spent on Uber rides with bonus earning awarded while in-stay. There are no additional costs to hotels from this new partnership.

    Starwood is the only international hospitality loyalty programme that is integrated with Uber.

    Abuja Sheraton Hotel GM lauds Starwood

    Starwood Hotels, owners of the Sheraton, Le meridian and other hotel brands has opened a new property, the luxury St. Regis Abu Dhabi. The property, which features 283 rooms located from the 33rd to 49th floor, is centrally located in the new Nation Towers complex near the Federal National Council, the Supreme Court and the Ministries area. With a 1300m² ballroom and range of meeting facilities, the hotel expects the corporate market to account for 80% of business, general manager Oliver Key told Hotelier Middle East. The property also offers a selection of restaurants, including a Tuscan-inspired outlet; a Remede Spa and Nation Riveria, a beach club set to open by November. British Michelin starred chef Gary Rhodes heads up the main restaurant Rhodes 44 and has also developed the St Regis signature afternoon tea and room service menus — a first for the chef. The beach club will feature two outsourced restaurants, Asia de Cuba and a seafood outlet, yet to be announced.

    The General Manager of Sheraton Abuja Hotel, Mr. Boris Bornman while lauding Starwood on the opening of the new property described the luxury hotel as an “Architectural Masterpiece and a rare beauty to behold.”He further encouraged African Tourists and  Nigerians in particular who are visiting the United Arab Emirates on business and vacation to make it a point of duty to stay at the luxury hotel in order to get guaranteed satisfaction.
