    Osayomore to release ’30 days and 30 nights in evil forest’

    Edo ace musician and social critic, Osayomore Joseph, is set to release a new musical album detailing his experience in the den of kidnappers.

    The album is titled ’30 days and 30 nights in evil forest’.

    He was abducted by gunmen on October 3 and released on November 2.

    His wife was shot by his abductors who are yet to be arrested.

    He was said to have spent two weeks in intensive care unit after he was released.

    Osayomore looked pale and walked with the aid of working stick when he visited the State Police Commissioner, Babatunde Kokumo, to hint him about the album launch on December 17.

    He said the album is to tell his story about how he was treated by his abductors.

    Farmer arrested for killing plantain thief

    A farmer at Odighi village in Ovia North East local government identified as Moses Erutuya has been arrested for killing one Jonathan who stole his plantain.

    Moses who was paraded alongside 43 other suspects at the police headquarters in Benin City said the deceased had been stealing from him since 2007.

    He said he killed Jonathan by hitting him with a stick.

    His words, “I started the farm in 1998. In 2007 while waiting for the plantain to mature, somebody went there and stole 60 bunch. I complained and was told nobody will guard my farm for me. Since then, I have been monitoring the farm. Luck ran against him this 2017 when he stole 35 bunches. I traced him to where he wanted to sell them.

    “He said the plantain was not mine. He stole seven bunches from my farm. I asked him to go and show me where he got others. On our way, he stopped. The wood he used to hold his bike, I took it and hit him on the head and he died. His family was looking for him. They came to me and I told them I left him to go but I later took them to where the body is. I want government to forgive me.”

    State Police Commissioner, Haliru Gwandu, said the suspect would soon be charged to court.

    A twenty-two year-old Student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) in Ondo State, Chukwudi  Oweniwe  has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Miss Nifemi Adeyeye in a bush at Ilu-Abo in Akure North local government area of Ondo state early this month.

    Chukwudi and Nifemi were both Part-Time (PT) three students of department of Science and Laboratory Technology (SLT).

    The suspect, who lives in Ayede-Ogbese was said to have invited the deceased to her place from their school and subsequently lured her into a bush in Ilu-Abo and killed her.

    He was alleged to have done some devilish activities on her late girlfriend.

    But, when Chukwudi was speaking with reporters at the police command in Akure, the state capital where he was being paraded confessed to the crime but denied using the lady for ritual.

    He narrated how he killed the lady saying “I invited her from Owo to Akure and after introducing her to my parents, I lured her into a bush and strangled her leaving her body in the bush.

    “On the second day, I asked a commercial motorcycle rider to take me to the bush where I left her and observed that she was not dead and I used a stoned to hit her head and she died immediately.

    “My parents became curious when they did not see her and I was arrested by Police in Ayede Ogbese and from there, they transferred me to anti-cultism in Akure”.

    When asked why he killed her girlfriend, Chukwudi said he did not know the spirit that came on him and that it was when he killed her that he realised that he has committed a sin.

    He said they have been dating since February this year and that she has never cheated on him.

    The State Police commissioner, Mrs. Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison said Nifemi’s remains were recovered in the bush by men of the Special Anti-cultism squad.

    She said the police officers are still investigating the matter to unravel the suspect’s action.

    He added that he would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.

    Also, the police paraded other criminals suspects arrested for different offences.

    Plateau state police command has confirmed that four people were killed during last Monday attack on the vehicle of the paramount ruler of Bokkos Local government.

    State police commissioner, Oladunjoye Adekunle stated this while briefing newsmen on the attack in his office at the Police headquarters Jos yesterday.

    According to the CP, “The late monarch was on his way from his farm where he took some laborers to work for him on his farm. On their way back, the gunmen open fire on the Chief’s driver, this made the driver to loose control and the vehicle ended up in a dish.

    “The driver died immediately from the gunshot, the chief also died, and another woman who was identified as the daughter in-law to the chief also died as well as his police orderly as a result of the attack.

    “Five other persons in the same vehicle with the Chief sustained injury as a result of the vehicle accident that occurred due to the attack” said Police.

    The late monarch was rated the oldest traditional ruler in the state having spent over 40 years on the throne as the Saf Ron Kulere, and as Chairman Bokkos local government traditional council.

    The driver of the late monarch who was hit by gun men’s bullet was the son of the late monarch.

    The late traditional ruler died at the age of 75. His body and other victims have been deposited at the morgue of Plateau state specialist hospital Jos.

    Three arrested for cyber crime

    Three persons have been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly using Internet to hack into people’s bank account and transferred the sum of N1,173,000 into their personal account.

    Suspects arrested are Kunle Bamidele, Otasowie Osarugue and Emalele Bright.

    They were alleged to have committed the offense between February and May this year.

    State Police Commissioner, Chris Ezike, who paraded the suspects said they stole the  money from the accounts of Rosemary Osague and and Ogbemudia Lydia.

    Also, seven notorious suspected kidnappers in the state were paraded.

    The suspects were alleged to have been responsible for the abduction of Rev Stephen Ogbebor, Mrs. Helen Ehigiator, some medical doctors and nurses.

    Names of the suspects were given as Ikpomwosa Owegie, Sunday Dahomi, Rasheed Muritala, Usman Hassan, Audu Haruna, Mohammed Haruna and Wilson Emobosa.

    The police commissioner said the suspects were arrested through coordinated tactical operation, use of forensic and advance technology.

    One of the suspects, Wilson, was said to be the last man standing of an eight-man kidnapping syndicate currently standing trial since 2015.

    Wilson was said to have formed another syndicate of a four man kidnapping gang.

    Ezike said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations have been completed.

    Police Command parades 2 arms dealers, 7 other criminals

    The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has paraded  a group of nine suspected criminals for various criminal involvements including gun running.

    The parade was done at the State Command headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia area, Uyo, the State capital by the State Police Commissioner, CP Murtala Mani.

    Emmanuel Akamaba aged 38 and Ezekiel Adie aged 35, were among the nine suspects paraded at the police headquarters for their involvement in gun running.

    The commissioner, CP Mani told journalists that the paraded suspects were arrested by operatives of the command at various locations in the state during stop and search operations on highways and roads.

    CP Mani said Stop and Search exercise is one the proactive measures taken by the command to rid the Akwa Ibom state of criminal elements.

    According to him, two suspects, Emmanuel Akamaba  and Ezekiel Adie both from Ogoja in Cross River state were arrested with four locally-made pistols along Calabar/Itu Highway by Safer Highway Patrol team who carried out a search on the vehicle which they traveled with.

    In their confessional statement, both Emmanuel and Ezekiel admitted to the crime. “When the police stopped us at their Check Point in Itu, and searched the vehicle we boarded, they discovered the four pistols in our traveling bag. We were going to sell the guns to our agent in Bayelsa at the cost of N100,000.00 each. We bought the guns from the manufacturer in Benue state and we have been in the business for about a year now.”

    However, CP Mani who was represented by the state public relations officer (PPRO) of the command, ASP Cordelia Nwawe said that among the paraded suspects was one Blessing Effiong Ambrose who was arrested for human trafficking.

    Blessing was allegedly arrested by the Patrol team stationed along Oron-Mbo Highway who intercepted a white colour Toyota Hiace commuter bus with registration number Lagos – JJJ454 XD which Blessing was among the passengers and were travelling from Oron in Akwa Ibom state to Lagos state.

    Among the passengers in the bus were six children aged between five and fifteen who were victims of child trafficking by Blessing who was taking them to buyers in Lagos state. The children were however rescued and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Uyo for investigations, the ASP Nwawe stated.

    Also paraded were those who robbed worshippers of a Presbyterian Church at Okopedi Itiam village, along Uyo – Ekim Itam Highway, those who were caught with three stolen Perkins sound proof generators purportedly removed from the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), those who were caught with stolen power transformer and other electrical  appliances on the way to Lagos from Uyo.

    Police said upon proper investigations into the crimes, all those found involved would be prosecuted accordingly.

    CP Mani called on members of the public, especially commercial vehicle drivers to always check the luggage of passengers to ascertain the contents before carrying them.

    He also warned that the command would not condone crime of any kind in the state, therefore parents should warn their children and wards against keeping bad friends or indulging in crime.

    The Police Command appeals to members of the public to bear with the Police when they are asked to stop for a brief check, that it is done for the overall good of all.
