  • Apostle Suleiman asks NBA to sanction Keyamo over Otobo

A clergyman, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has petitioned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) asking it to sanction Festus Keyamo (SAN) over public statements he made against him following one Stephanie Otobo’s allegation.

Stephanie had alleged Apostle Suleiman had amorous relationship with her and promised to marry her but later reneged.

In the petition, Apostle Suleiman alleged that Keyamo tried to smear his name through the media.

Counsel to Suleiman, Barr. Olayiwola Afolabi told journalists in Benin City that the way and manner Keyamo went about the matter was unprofessional as he (Keyamo) refused to respond to letters sent to him by Suleman which prompted the decision to petition the NBA.

Afolabi said Keyamo made spurious allegations against his client and engaged in  a smear campaign against Suleman but did not recant his statements when Otobo publicly apologised to Suleman.

He said, “While Keyamo made a demand on our client supposedly on the brief of Stephanie Otobo, our client had hardly received and acknowledged receipt of the letter when he followed up with a petition to the Inspector General of Police and organised media attack on our client.

“As widely accepted in the legal sphere, an addressee of a letter ought to have taken receipt of it before any supposed action would be taken on it, but in this instance, not only did he make it a subject of media gossips, he engaged in active conversations in the public sphere through print and other media on the matter for which our client had no opportunity to debunk the allegations.

Afolabi noted that Otobo later made a public apology to Suleman but Keyamo wss yet to retract his public statements against Suleman.

A response to Apostle Suleman’s petition by the Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jonathan Gunu Taidi dated 29th January 2019 directed Suleiman to within 21 days forward to it a statement sworn before a competent court, witness statement of any witness he may wish to call with “concise statement of material facts to be relied upon in support of the petition” with relevant documents, this it said would enable it take a decision on the petition.

I’ll name my sponsors in court – Otobo

Canada-based Stephanie Otobo who last Sunday apologised to Apostle Johnson Suleman for accusing him of having an affair with her, has vowed to name her sponsors in court.

The woman said she has emails and text messages to prove her claims.

Otobo, a stripper and musician, spoke on Tuesday from her Lagos hideout via a video published online.

The video is the third on her alleged connection with the preacher since January 23.

She denied being coerced or paid to make a confession in favour of Suleman.

In the first video confession released on Sunday, Otobo apologised to Suleman, founder of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide (OFM), for accusing him of impregnating and breaching a marriage promise.

The woman declared that she was sponsored by “very strong and powerful politicians and pastors” to defame the preacher.

In the video, which the church uploaded to its Facebook page, she said: “They paid me a lot of money,” wiping tears from her eyes.

Otobo claimed she accepted the proposal of the unnamed powerful politicians and pastors because she was assured it would help her career.

But on Tuesday morning, a pre-recorded video recorded in 2017, was published by Sahara Reporters, which showed Otobo foretelling her confession.

According to her, the almost nine-minute video was recorded on June 21, 2017 – seven months and six days before Sunday’s video – by Canada-based Worship Media.

In that video, she thanked her supporters before accusing the cleric of pressuring her family and others to lie that the government was behind the scandal.

“This is what Suleman is asking me to do. He is telling me to come and make a video to lie that it’s the government of Nigeria that is putting me up to this. I don’t know when you’ll be watching this but I’m just doing this video for the future. Today’s date is the 21st of June, 2017,” Otobo said.

She claimed she was phoned by Suleiman’s “agents” in Canada, United States and Nigeria, urging her to return to Nigeria and say she was recruited against him.

In another video that emerged on Tuesday night, Otobo debunked the online medium’s report.

According to her, the video was recorded by her sponsors to gag her in future.

She said: “I was not lured, kidnapped, forced or paid to confess. I confessed for my own peace of mind and my wellbeing as a human being.

“How much can the Apostle pay me that will match what I was paid? I am still being offered more by my sponsors.

Otobo said she has had sleepless nights for several months over the role she played in the alleged sex scandal.

She also accused her alleged sponsors of blackmail, saying the video was made in June 2017 in the Canadian home of a certain Chidi, the guy she claimed was responsible for most of her videos last year.

Apostle Suleman asked me to frame pastors, politicians – Otobo

Two days after a video surfaced showing a Canada-based woman, Stephanie Otobo, apologising to Apostle Johnson Suleman for accusing him of sex scandal, another video has emerged contradicting her confession.

Yet, in a third video reportedly recorded on Tuesday, January 30 2018, Otobo said she was not forced to confess of lying against Suleman.

In last Sunday’s undated video, Otobo apologised to Suleman, founder of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide (OFM), for accusing him of impregnating and breaching a promise to marry her.

The woman declared that she was sponsored by “very strong and powerful politicians and pastors” to defame Suleman.

In the video, which the church uploaded to its Facebook page, she said: “They paid me a lot of money,” wiping tears from her eyes.

Otobo claimed she accepted the proposal of the unnamed powerful politicians and pastors because she was assured it would help her career.

But in Tuesday’s pre-recorded video published by Sahara Reporters, Otobo, foretold her confession.

According to her, the almost nine-minute video was recorded on June 21, 2017 – seven months and six days before Sunday’s video – by Canada-based Worship Media.

She thanked her supporters before accusing the cleric of pressuring her family and others to lie that the government was behind the scandal.

“This is what Suleman is asking me to do.

“He is telling me to come and make a video to lie that it was the government of Nigeria that is putting me up to this. I don’t know when you’ll be watching this but I’m just doing this video for the future. Today’s date is the 21st of June, 2017,” Otobo said.

The woman claimed she was phoned by Suleiman’s “agents” in Canada, United States and Nigeria, urging her to return to Nigeria and claim that she was recruited against him.

Last year, Otobo accused Suleman of failing to keep a marriage promise made to her.

She filed a petition asking the police to investigate multiple allegations against the preacher.

on March 6, the police brought Otobo and Wisdom Godstime, 43 before Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on a charge of blackmailing Suleman.

They failed to obtain a remand order for the duo following Magistrate Bukola-Ayeye’s ruling that there was insubstantial evidence to support the charge.

on March 20, the police re-arraigned Otobo at the same court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, intent to steal, blackmail and threat to life.

The case is still pending at the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Magistrate’s absence stalls Otobo’s blackmail trial

A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, has adjourned till May 3, the trial of Stephanie Otobo, the woman who claimed she had an affair with the president and founder of Omega Fire Ministry Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleiman.

The case was due for hearing Wednesday, but Magistrate Kikelomo Bukola-Ayeye, before whom Otobo was re-arraigned on March 20, has been away on a one-week conference.

    The magistrate resumes on Friday.

Otobo, 23, is standing trial alongside Wisdom Godstime, 43, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, intent to steal, blackmail and threat to life.

They were first brought before the court on March 6, but the police failed to obtain an order for their remand following Magistrate Bukola-Ayeye’s ruling that there was insubstantial evidence to support the charge against them.

According to the prosecutor, M. A. Animashaun, the defendants and others at large committed the alleged offences on February 14, at about 10:30 a.m. at Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.

He alleged that they conspired amongst themselves to steal by demanding for property with menace and attempted to extort money from the preacher.

Animashaun also said the defendants, “with intent to blackmail a man of God, unlawfully demanded the immediate payment of $1million to Otobo by Apostle Suleiman, else she would call a press conference and accuse him of committing adultery with her and thereafter kill him.”

The court also heard that the defendants with intent to extort money from Suleiman, accused him of committing adultery with Otobo and also promised to marry her.

According to the Animashaun, the offences were punishable under sections 411, 301 and 303 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Canada-based Otobo had last Thursday filed a lawsuit against Suleiman in a Canadian court, seeking $5million in damages.

The suit, dated April 19, was marked CV-17-573595 and signed by Registrar of the Ontario Superior Court.

It accused the preacher of breach of trust, breach of fiduciary relations, breach of contract, negligence, defamation, poisoning, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional stress, forcible confinement, multiple instances of battery, false imprisonment, fraud, assaults, sexual assaults, sexual harassments, harassments and malicious prosecution.

Suleman: Otobo releases bank statement showing huge deposits

Stephanie Otobo, the Canadian-based accuser of General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM), Apostle Johnson Suleman, yesterday offered fresh evidence to back up her claims.

In an interview with Worship Media based in Canada, the musician presented a copy of her statement of account reflecting huge deposits by Suleman to support allegation of adultery against the Auchi-based cleric.

Excerpts of the interview were posted online yesterday by the media organisation.

Otobo alleged Suleman at different times transferred N200, 000, N900, 000 and N1million to her account.

The statement of account, as seen in the video, reads a transfer of  N900, 000 on July 22, 2015.

There was another transaction that reads transfer of N1million from Apostle Johnson Suleman on 14th September, 2015.

Otobo claimed he met Suleman in 2015 through a friend who got married after a prophecy by the cleric.

Her friend, she said, told her Suleman revealed the man she eventually married was the right fit for her.

Otobo said Suleman later requested for her BBM pin after which he asked her to be his girlfriend.

But Otobo, in the interview, was overheard agreeing the interviewers some other transfers cannot be proven, casting doubts on the authenticity of the statement.

The media office of Suleman was unavailable for reactions yesterday.

Apostle Suleiman should admit his sin publicly – Otobo

As the controversy between fiery preacher, Apostle Johnson Suleiman and his alleged ex-lover, Stephanie Otobo, deepens, the lady has demanded a public acceptance and apology from the Omega Fire Ministries’ Founder.

Otobo, during a press conference held at Festus Keyamo chambers in Anthony Village, Lagos, chided the pastor for denying the amorous affair between them.

She advised Apostle Suleiman to also apologise to his members and move on, insisting that they had sex several times in Napoli, Italy, New York and Nigeria.

Otobo urged the police to request call and SMS logs from their service providers, as well as her bank statements in order to ascertain who was being truthful.

She also asked the police to investigate circumstances that led to the loss of their baby, accusing the preacher of carrying out force abortion on her.

Giving details of the hotels they stayed in Lagos when she visited Apostle Suleiman, Otobo said she was dazzled by the way the preacher showered her with money.

Otobo added that the cleric also sent her money which she collected through money transfer in Canada.

She said: “I am calling on the police to go through my bank records to check how he sent money directly from his account to my account. Apart from the cash that he gave me, like a lot of cash that he gave me. I’m not talking about 8,000 euros, I’m not talking about 12,000 dollars in two weeks.

“If I was a cheap prostitute, how much do you send to a cheap prostitute in Canada all the way from Nigeria? I’m based in Canada. I’m sure there are a lot of women that need money here in Nigeria. How many women or cheap prostitutes has he sent money here in Nigeria?

“We are petitioning the police on that. And also the issue of photo-shopping of pictures, in between the photo-shopped pictures there should be an original copy if the pictures were photo-shopped, it must be photo-shopped from something, he should provide that. Because I have the cell phones that I used to take the pictures, I still have every original picture.

“And also, the police should check the private pictures he sent me about his penis and all that. In that picture, his hand was on his penis. I believe each human being has different hands. No two humans can have the same hand. Did I photo-shop that one too? He should be taken on that issue.

“The police should check my passports, he took me to Napoli, he had a programme there, a conference for three days. The police should check his passport, the period it was stamped to Napoli and check my passport, the period I was stamped to Napoli if it was the same. If I was a cheap prostitute he was helping why did he take me to Italy?

“I want the police to check on the issue when he gave me substance to drink that almost cost me my life. This was one of the main reasons I spoke out. After I got pregnant, he gave me substance to drink. It was at a hotel off Allen Junction, a new hotel there. I started bleeding, stooling blood for almost one year. I was so scared and I lost the baby. It was during that period that I decided to screen our chat because I knew something wasn’t right and he was pretending as though he doesn’t know what was happening to me.”
