    Mikel boasts: Stoke must fall

Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel is confident the Blues will hold their own against Stoke in today’s Barclay’s Premier League clash at the Britannia.

The Nigeria international told the club’s official website that he was expecting a different approach by Stoke but was upbeat to play any role assigned to him by club’s gaffer, Jose Mourinho during the encounter.

“I think Stoke have been trying to do something different with their play but I think tomorrow (today) they are going to go back to the normal routine of playing longer balls and trying to pick up the second ball. If they try to play we’ve got good quality that can withstand that.

“They are definitely going to go with their strengths and we are ready for it. “Hopefully tomorrow (today) we are going to get a good result. It is difficult coming in when it’s getting tough for the team. But whenever the manager calls on me to start or come off the bench I’m always ready to do my job, help the team and make sure we win.’

    Stoke, Cardiff bid for Odemwingie

West Brom Albion has received offers of about £2 million from Stoke and Cardiff for Osaze Odemwingie with Swansea prepared to pay a little less.

WBA has previously rejected bids of £1.5million for the 32-year-old, but these latest offers could pave the way for his exit, according to Birmingham Mail.

Osaze has not played any part for Albion since his return to pre-season training, with the club making it clear there is no way back for him.

The Nigeria international has been sidelined since his well-publicized fall-out with the club last season – which started with his failed move to Queens Park Rangers and continued with a series of Twitter meltdowns.

Although ‘The Baggies’ are not prepared to let him go on the cheap, club officials are mindful that his age and contractual situation will drive his price down.

MTNFootball.com reports that Osaze has less than 12 months left on his current contract with Albion.
