Following Nigeria‘s emphatic 5–0 victory over Zambia in the quarter-finals, and Morocco’s 3–1 triumph over Mali, the semi-final fixtures for the ongoing tournament have been confirmed.

In the other quarter-final matchups, Algeria and Ghana played out a goalless draw after 90 minutes and extra time, with Ghana eventually emerging victorious in the penalty shootout.

Similarly, South Africa and Senegal also ended their game without a goal in regular and extra time, but it was South Africa who advanced after winning on penalties.

Reacting to the Super Falcons’ progress and the mounting expectations, head coach Justin Madugu acknowledged the intense pressure that comes with managing the team.

“The coaching job is a tactless job that goes with a lot of pressure,” Madugu said. “You must take those pressures they will always come. No matter what you do, you will always face criticism in one area or the other.”

He added: “For me, I just try to focus on what is ahead. I believe in what we do and the progress we’ve made. The girls have done well, and we hope they keep it up.”

Nigeria will now face South Africa in a highly anticipated semi-final showdown today, while host nation Morocco will battle Ghana for a place in the final.
