When I see the opportunities here for tourism, hospitality and cultural development, I see the synergy not only of this golf course but also a synergy and a circuit that can be built around most of the tourist sites in Ondo State and neigbouring states like the Ikogosi Warm Spring, which is not too far away from here. And I see the various towns and communities around here providing the source for the development of local cuisine and the service industry that will bring value. I also see the university providing the opportunity for young people to grow into golf and the potential of having an inter university circuit. I see a great opportunity in this resort, not only to grow championship golf tournament and golfers but also an opportunity for professional retreats by organisations that will like to develop strategy sessions and then go out to play a game of gulf and enrich their own experiences’’.

    Support swells for Emerhor

The Urhobo Youth Forum for Change (UYFC) has congratulated the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief O’tega Emerhor, on his endorsement by the traditional rulers in Urhobo land.

The group, in a statement   by its leader, Israel Akpodoro, in Asaba, the Delta State capital at the weekend described the monarchs’ action as a right step in the right direction.

According to the group, the adoption of the APC candidate showed the traditional institution wants a change in the politics of the Urhobo speaking people in the state.

The group added that the monarchs’ endorsement of Emerhor would surely bring glory and victory at the polls to “our nation” which ultimately would produce a governor of Urhobo extraction in February.

The statement added: “Our traditional rulers in Urhobo land have spoken and they have rightly spoken the minds of their subjects and for us in UYFC, we have no other choice better than the choice of our fathers. It therefore follows that Emerhor is our best leg in the 2015 governorship race.

“The fathers of Urhobo nation in their decision have bade farewell to repeated failure at the polls. Once again our nation will take its place of pride in the comity of nationalities. No more second fiddle, marginalisation and poverty.”

The National Coordinator, Remi Oyebamiji, said yesterday that there was need for the wind of change to blow in the country.

“We know Buhari is the only one who can end corruption in Nigeria. The only one who can promise and keep it. He has no oil well. This is the right time. With APC, It’s a party with political structure.

”This is the time we need Buhari the most. If Buhari can come back this time around, I can assure you that all that all the youth will be busy.

“It is because the youth are not busy, that’s why you are having Boko Haram, that’s why there are militants and area boys.

“He has done it before. You can see the rate of corruption in the system now. And the corruption has caused Boko Haram, unemployment, indiscipline.

“This is a fellow who when he was head of state there was nothing like corruption. He’s the only one who can give us zero corruption. Don’t let us deceive ourselves. It is so glaring now, if Buhari comes in now, corruption will be zero, and development will be there.”

  • Council chief seeks support

Executive Secretary of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government of Lagos State Mr Olurotimi Adeleye has urged residents to work with his administration for rapid development at the grassroots.

Speaking at the swearing-in of the council’s four-member transition committee at the Area Office Events Centre, Adeleye urged party chieftains to bury their differences and work together for the party.

No single unit of the broom can ensure cleanliness, but there’s no dirt that cannot be taken care of when it comes as a bunch. Ex governorship aspirants enjoined to support Ambode

Aspirants who lost the Lagos State governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Akinwunmi Ambode in last week’s primaries have been enjoined to close ranks and support him as the party’s standard-bearer in the forthcoming election.

A public affairs analyst and entrepreneur, Mr. Adeniyi Adekunle, made this appeal at an event in Lagos while commenting on the significance of next year’s general election. He urged the close to a dozen other aspirants that lost to Ambode to give him their full support to enable the party to face the election as a formidable and united platform.

Adekunle described Ambode’s opponents during the contest as gallant men who have distinguished themselves in the nation’s public life, especially in Lagos State. He said: “In every contest, there must be losers and winners; that is inevitable. Now that Ambode has emerged as the winner, I want to appeal to his opponents to put whatever transpired behind them and work with the flag bearer to ensure victory for the party at the polls.”

Adekunle, who is also the Chief Executive Officer, Samad Group of Companies, said his appeal was borne out of a desire to see the APC triumph in next year’s election and consolidate on the good works of the incumbent administration led by Governor Babatunde Fashola.

He added: “I’m apolitical. I’m not a politician, but we are all political animals. As a political analyst who has been monitoring events in Lagos in the last 16 years, I’m of the view that the state benefitted immensely from the vision and dynamism of both former Governor Bola Tinubu and the incumbent Governor Fashola. I’ve known Ambode as a hardworking and brilliant technocrat over the years. With his wealth of experience, I’m sure that Lagos State will be better for it, if he is endorsed by the electorates.

The public affairs analyst and entrepreneur said Ambode has started well by extending hands of fellowship to all the aspirants who participated in the contest. His words: “Ambode has done well by saying that his victory is for all of them and that there is no victor and no vanquished at the end of the day. That is a hallmark of a good leader.”
