  • Suspected ritualist kills 22-yr-old, dumps body inside river

    A suspected ritualist identified simply as Samuel has allegedly killed a 22-year-old , Quadri Omilani and dumped his body in a river in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    It was said that the deceased was lured to a birthday party organized by Samuel, from where he was allegedly seized, bounded and taken to a river where his body was dumped.

    Samuel was also believed to be a suspected internet fraudster otherwise known as yahoo boy.

    According to sources, it was at the party held on March 4, 2019 that Omilani got drunk and posted his photographs at the event on his social media pages.

    The Nation learnt that Samuel urged Omilani to accompany him to see his mother and was being driven toward bush paths when the deceased became suspicious that something was fishy.

    It was at this juncture Omilani told Samuel that he was no longer willing to accompany him to see his mother.

    Sources said Samuel convinced him that his mother was a river goddess priestess and that she has a grove near the river.

    It was gathered that Samuel suddenly brought out a small calabash and gave Omilani, but he declined.

    Omilani was brutalized, bounded with a rope and spluttered incantations on his body before he was thrown into the river near Oyo dam in the Sabo area of Abeokuta.

    Samuel was said to have confided in a lady called Halimat who was used to lure Omilani to the party that the deceased drowned in a river.

    The lady was given Omilani’s mobile telephone with a stern warning never to answer incoming calls on the phone.

    Exasperated by persistent calls from the siblings of the deceased, Halimat answered their call and relayed what Samuel had told her about Omilani’s tragic death.

    Omilani’s body was later recovered from the river by the police.

    Samuel, according to sources , has since been arrested by the police and transferred to state police command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

    Contacted, the spokesman of Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) where the suspect (Samuel) is currently being detained.

  • Suspected ritualist lynched in Bayelsa

    Angry mob on Thursday lynched a suspected ritualist at Akenfa a suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

    He was reportedly caught red-handed while trying to cut the body of a young lady he was accused of killing by the mob.

    It was gathered that the young lady identified as Best, an indigene of Epie, was hit and killed by the suspect.

    The community has come under attack by ritualists who kill women and harvest their vital body parts.

    Sources said the suspect threatened to attack the mob with an axe when he was caught but that he was later overpowered and burnt to death.

    It was gathered that the man pretended to be mad during the day but turned to a killer at night.

    One of the sources who spoke in confidence said: “That’s the guy that has been killing women at Akenfa. They caught him once when he was trying to kill another woman, I think that was last month, they beat him up but did not hand him over to the police.

    “He was still saying he will kill. This morning he killed one Epie girl, they caught him when he was trying to butcher her with an axe. This is the third women he has killed so far”.

    Confirming the incident, the Bayelsa Police Spokesman, Asinim Butswat, said both the suspected ritualist and murdered woman were known to be mentally sick.

    A human rights activist and gender advocate, Princess Elizabeth Egbe, lamented the spate of ritual killings in the community.

    She said: ” There has been a lot of killings at Akenfa recently, mainly women. They always remove parts of the body, breast, brain, virgina, eyes and pants and bra.

    “As a Human Rights Activist/Gender Advocate, I strongly condemn these killings and call on the perpetrators to desist from this barbaric, inhuman, ungodly act and violence against women.

    “We, therefore, call on government at all levels to beef up security to stop further reoccurrence of these cases that have become a menace in our society.

    “This is serious violence against women and I call on all women to lend their voices to condemn these crimes because it’s crime against all women”.

  • Suspected ritualist lynched for allegedly eating faeces

    A mob has lynched a suspected ritualist at Odo-Ado in Ado- Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, for allegedly eating human faeces.

    When our reporter got to the scene of the incident, the victim, who was believed to be in his 30s, had been lynched. He was partially burnt. His body was found at Red Roof junction, Odo-Ado.

    Eyewitnesses said the man had been paraded in parts of Ado-Ekiti, including the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, before he was lynched.

    The Nation learnt that the man was caught by an unidentified elderly woman eating human faeces. The woman shouted, attracting youths, who apprehended him.

    It was gathered that the mob stripped him naked and beat him up.

    Sources said the suspected ritualist sought help by mentioning the names of some clergymen he claimed to know in the town.

    The mob reportedly followed him to a white garment church at Odo-Ado, but they couldn’t see the clergyman he had mentioned. The victim later bolted, but the mob caught up with him at Red Roof junction and lynched him.

    The Nation learnt that the mob thereafter destroyed the white garment church.

    Police spokesman Caleb Ikechukwu could not be reached last night for comments, as his phone was switched off.

  • Teenager caught stealing woman’s underwear

    A teenager has been arrested for allegedly stealing a pair of female underwear in Odoakpu, Onitsha, Anambra State.

    The suspect, Chinonye Okorie, 19, of Mbaitolu in Imo State was apprehended with the pant by the police.

    Parading the suspect yesterday at the police headquarters in Amawbia, spokesman Haruna Mohammed said the suspect stole the underwear for alleged ritual.

    He said: “At about 6:48am, detectives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Onitsha arrested Chinonye Okorie, male, aged 19, of Ogbaku in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State.

    “The suspect allegedly stole a female pant washed and spread on a rope at 21, Umuna Street, Odoakpu, Onitsha in Anambra State.

    “He intended to sell the pant to-yet-to-be-identified persons at the rate of N80,000 for alleged ritual.”

    Mohammed added that the pant was recovered from the suspect as exhibit.

    He said efforts were on to arrest fleeing accomplices.

    “The command implores the public to be vigilant and report to the nearest police station any suspicious person or persons roaming their vicinity for prompt action, in order to prevent this new trend of crime in the society,” Mohammed added.

  • Why I killed, slept with my mother’s corpse

    An-18 year old boy, Samuel Akpobome Emobor, has confessed that he killed his mother and slept with her corpse for the purpose of money ritual.

    Samuel who hails from Oghara in Delta State committed the act at their rented apartment in Ologbo community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area.

    Speaking to newsmen when he was paraded at the Edo State Police Command, Samuel said he was pushed to commit the act by a ritualist who sells drugs in the community.

    According to him, “I wanted to use my mother for ritual. I am 18 years old. My father is dead. It was one man called One Love that told me to use my mother for money ritual. He promised to give me N50,000 if I killed my mother and sleep with her. He said I should cut my mother’s ear and fingers and bring them to him.

    “I wanted to cut the ears and fingers before the people came in. I slept with my mother only once. I pressed my mother’s neck to kill her while she was sleeping. The One Love sells drugs. He put something inside the drink he gave and he told me to go and kill my mother.

    “The day I went to his house with policemen, the man has ran away. I hail from Oghara. I work in a pure water factory.

    “I now feel very bad because I was beaten badly by people. I did what the ritualist told me.”

    Police Commissioner, Babatunde Kokumo, said the suspect would soon be charged to court.

  • Suspected ritualist held in Oyo

    The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a man, Sodiq Rasheed, for alleged possession of three human skulls for money-making ritual in Ibadan, the state capital.

    The suspect allegedly confessed to have raided a cemetery in the city and exhumed the human skulls.

    He reportedly told the police that a herbalist promised to help him use them for money ritual to make him get rich quick.

    Rasheed was quoted as saying that life had not been fair to him, having lived in poverty his life.

    But his desire to free himself from poverty led him into police net.

    Police Commissioner Abiodun Odude, who paraded 35 other suspects for various crimes at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, yesterday, said Rasheed, 27, was arrested by the anti-crime team of the command during a patrol on July 25, 2018.

    He said: “A suspected ritualist was intercepted and arrested by the patrol team with three human skulls exhumed from a cemetery in Omi-Adio area of Ibadan. He was arrested with the exhibits on Ijebu-Ode/Idi-Ayunre road. He said an Islamic cleric, simply called Alfa Hadi, currently on the run, requested him to bring the human parts for the purpose of money ritual.”

    The suspect said he specialised in gathering firewood for his customers and that he met the cleric when he worked for me.

    “I visited the cemetery at Omi-Adio and exhumed the three skulls. Alfa Hadi said three skulls would be used to make money ritual for me. I hid the skulls in a cellophane bag and on my way to the Alfa’s place, I was stopped by the police and arrested.”

    The suspect, who pleaded for mercy, said he used to cut firewood for a living until he fell into the hands of the cleric, who he said promised to make him rich if he could provide three human skulls.

    “The Alfa contracted me to cut some trees for him. He saw my suffering and, in the process, asked me if I could get the skulls for the money ritual. I agreed to do it to end my suffering,” Rasheed said.

  • Police chief parades suspected ritualist with human heads

    Kwara State Police Command has paraded a suspected ritualist arrested with three human skulls in Ilorin.

    Police Commissioner Mr. Lawan Ado said the suspect, Suleiman Adenifuja, was caught with three human skulls in Eiyekorin, Ilorin, on March 26.

    He said when the suspect was interrogated; he claimed that he brought the skulls from Lagos to Ilorin for rituals.

    Ado said Wahab Ramoni was arrested with a stolen Toyota Camry car, registered as AKD 287 EE.

    “The vehicle will be released to the owner after investigation, while the suspects will be arraigned.”

    He warned residents against illegal use of siren, covering of number plates and use of spy numbers by banks and other organisations.

    Ado advised those using such to apply and get the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

    He said the application should be routed through the Force Transport Officer, Abuja, adding that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted.

    “We wish to inform the public of the extension of the date of withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs, government officials and political office holders to April 20.

    “This is to enable the affected officials re-apply for revalidation of the authority for IGP’s approval,” he said.

    He urged people who had not surrendered illegal and prohibited firearms to do so, saying anybody arrested would be prosecuted.

    The Oyo State Police Command on Monday paraded a suspected ritualist, whose name was given as Kamoru Oladele for being in possession of human head.

    Briefing journalist at the state police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan on its activities in February, the Commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Leye Oyebade disclosed that a syndicate who was specialise in selling human parts was arrested by the Special Anti-Kidnapping squad of the command.

    “The arrest was made possible after the squad received credible intelligence on the clandestine activities on them. After two weeks intensive investigation, the leader of the syndicate, Kamoru Oladele, aged 50 years was eventually arrested during negotiation to sell fresh human head for thirty thousand naira. When his house was searched, one smoked human skull was recovered.

    “The suspects who engaged in this terrible business had until now used the human parts for different purposes including rituals. During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang had esoteric slags for different human parts. Such slangs were known only to the initiates. For instance, human head which was sold for thirty thousand naira is called ‘Agbon’ (Coconut), ” he said.

    According to him, the gang had its killer squad which helped to hunt for victims who were eventually killed in cold blood and dismembered for sale.

    Oyebade said the unlucky victims are those that may have been declared missing by the relations.

    In an interview with The Nation, the syndicate kamoru Oladele who confessed to the crime, also disclosed their evil trade was carried out in their human abattoirs located at Amuloko, Ibadan and Kuta village, Osun State.
