  • Suspected ritualists abduct 13-day-old baby

    Suspected ritualists have kidnapped a 13-day-old baby at Uro Quarters in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State.

    The Nation learnt that the incident occurred on Wednesday night when two masked men entered a house and abducted the baby.

    Sources said the baby’s mother was asleep when the suspected ritualists kidnapped the baby.

    It was gathered that an elderly woman, who attempted to rescue the baby, was attacked with a machete by the hoodlums.

    Residents have combed the bush to rescue the baby.

    The monarch of Uro-Ajowa, Oba Ade Ipinmoroti, was not around, but the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of  Okeagbe, Adetaranmi Ibitayo, a Superintendent of Police (SP), confirmed the incident.

    He said the police have begun investigation to rescue the baby.

    Suspected ritualists yesterday beheaded a 12-year-old girl identified as Eguono.

    The incident occurred at Oghara, in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

    It happened two days after the Rapid Response Squad arrested a suspected Internet fraudster, identified as Emmanuel, in Warri with charms and multiple email accounts, some of which belong to white people.

    The Nation gathered that Eguono, whose head was cut and vital parts removed, was killed near Okwemeva junction, off Scot Road, an area where ritual murders had occurred in the last few weeks.

    Police Commissioner Muhammad Mustafa said: “The DPO actually called me. But they said the girl was mentally-deranged. The DPO has begun investigation into the incident.”

    A source said the suspected Internet fraudster was nabbed with a car containing charms.

    He added that it was discovered that he had suspicious email accounts, some of which bore foreign names and pictures of white men.

     

  • Suspected ritualists allegedly kill 70-year-old woman

    A 70-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Medinat Ala, has been reportedly killed in Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State, for alleged money rituals.

    Sources said her breasts and other sensitive parts were removed by the suspected ritualists, who attacked her in her home at night.

    The deceased, a petty trader, sold goods in front of her family house.

    It was learnt that another woman, who lived in the same house with the late Mrs. Ala, who woke up and heard strange voices when the deceased was being attacked by the suspected ritualists, was seriously injured. She has been hospitalised.

    It was learnt that a pestle was used to kill Mrs. Ala. Her remains have been taken to the Specialist Hospital mortuary in Ikare Akoko.

    The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Ikare Akoko, Abayomi Fidelis, who led his men to the scene of the incident, said the doors to the house were not broken before the murder was committed.

    He described the incident as “constructive killing”.

    Two residents of the house have been arrested as principal suspects. One is a son of the late woman, while the second person is a tenant.

    Youth leaders Akintoye Sunday Olona and Adeyemi Bayegun, a lawyer, said Ikare was in a sorrowful mood.

    They said meetings were being convened to unravel the mystery surrounding the death.

    A neighbour of the deceased, who spoke in confidence, described the woman as easygoing.

    Suspected ritualists yesterday killed a woman in Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State, and removed her private part.

    It was learnt that the body of the slain woman resembled that of a lunatic who usually stayed close to the cemetery opposite a bank on NTA Road.

    Sympathisers, who thronged the scene, were said to have shed tears profusely, cursing the killers.

    Police Area Commander for Akoko, Razak Rauf, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), visited the scene.

    He said his men were investigating the incident, adding that the culprits would be apprehended and prosecuted.

    Suspected ritualists have abducted and killed a 37-year old man with a hunchback in Edo State.

    The victim simply identified as Usokpowu alias Tokyo was a musician and professional Master of Ceremony.

    Family sources said the hunchback man was abducted by gunmen at his residence at Okhokhugbo community in Egor Local Government.

    He was found dead three days later where his corpse was deposited at a primary school.

    Vital organs such as liver, private parts and the hunch were found to have been removed.

    When contacted for comments, State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said the matter as a case of missing person.

    Ezike said investigation has commenced into the case and that he has directed the Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.

    The Oyo State Police Command on Monday paraded a suspected ritualist, whose name was given as Kamoru Oladele for being in possession of human head.

    Briefing journalist at the state police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan on its activities in February, the Commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Leye Oyebade disclosed that a syndicate who was specialise in selling human parts was arrested by the Special Anti-Kidnapping squad of the command.

    “The arrest was made possible after the squad received credible intelligence on the clandestine activities on them. After two weeks intensive investigation, the leader of the syndicate, Kamoru Oladele, aged 50 years was eventually arrested during negotiation to sell fresh human head for thirty thousand naira. When his house was searched, one smoked human skull was recovered.

    “The suspects who engaged in this terrible business had until now used the human parts for different purposes including rituals. During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang had esoteric slags for different human parts. Such slangs were known only to the initiates. For instance, human head which was sold for thirty thousand naira is called ‘Agbon’ (Coconut), ” he said.

    According to him, the gang had its killer squad which helped to hunt for victims who were eventually killed in cold blood and dismembered for sale.

    Oyebade said the unlucky victims are those that may have been declared missing by the relations.

    In an interview with The Nation, the syndicate kamoru Oladele who confessed to the crime, also disclosed their evil trade was carried out in their human abattoirs located at Amuloko, Ibadan and Kuta village, Osun State.

  • Suspected ritualists behead Okada rider in Ekpoma

    Suspected ritualists have beheaded a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called Okada rider, at Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

    The incident took away the head of their victim.

    The incident was said to have occurred at 8pm on a lonely street adjacent to the Ambrose Alli University College of Medicine.

    The body was left in a pool of blood with splashes of blood on the scene.

    It was learnt that the hoodlums boarded the motorcycle, pretending to be passengers.

    The hoodlums were said to have attacked the Okada rider on the street.

    A resident said he heard a loud shout for help, accompanied with heavy bangs on the gates of some houses on the street.

    The ritualists reportedly overpowered the hapless motorcyclist and took away his head.

    The source said the residents met the headless body the following morning in a pool of blood.

    They alerted the police, who removed the body.

    The residents are said to have become used to retreating indoors early, following constant robbery attacks on the street.

    The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Esan West Local Government, Mr. A. A. Shaibu, confirmed the incident.

    He said the matter had been transferred to the command’s headquarters in Benin, the state capital, for further investigation.

    A police source said some suspects, including the younger brother of the deceased, were being investigated.

    “The younger brother is being interrogated as the last person that called the deceased’s mobile phone before the killing,” the source said.
