  • Group to T.B Joshua: ‘Relocate Synagogue to Ondo’

Group to T.B Joshua: ‘Relocate Synagogue to Ondo’

Amidst speculations that the Founder of the Synagogue Church for All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Joshua is considering moves to relocate the headquarters of his church to Israel, The Ondo for Truth, a nonprofit, nongovernmental organisation has prevailed on him to rescind the decision.

Speaking on behalf of the group over the weekend, the National Coordinator, Mr. Festus Aladesanmi urged T.B. Joshua to have a rethink, adding that rather than relocate to a foreign land, he should relocate to the Akoko Area of Ondo state.

The group promised to facilitate the release of at least 200 acres of land in Akoko on a platter of gold to T.B Joshua if he could consider the offer.

“We want to say that we mean business. We have started talking to traditional rulers from the four local government areas in Akoko land to see if they can facilitate the release of at least 200 acres of land to T.B Joshua if he chose to relocate to Ondo state and they agree. In fact, they are all looking ahead for T.B Joshua to make the announcement of the relocation.”

T.B. Joshua hails from Arigidi-Akoko in Akoko North East Area of Ondo state.

While reiterating the need to relocate SCOAN to Ondo, Aladesanmi said the dwindling economy of Ondo State can become a direct beneficiary of the church considering its tourism potential.

“I say expressly that the unemployed youths of Ondo state need SCOAN. Our Airport in Akure needs SCOAN. The market men and women need SCOAN. The hotel owners and other vital commercial enterprises in Ondo state need SCOAN. SCOAN’s presence is our metaphorical fish feeding the five thousand. The over five thousand direct and indirect jobs the Church’s presence can generate in Ondo state.”

The church headquarters is currently situated at Ikotun in Alimosho axis of Lagos state.

SCOAN, according to the Lagos state chapter of the Association of Hotel Owners of Nigeria, is responsible for 60% of every foreign tourist that visits Nigeria and 65% of income accrued to Lagos state government through tourism per annum.

  • Why T.B Joshua must not relocate, by Fasheun

Why T.B Joshua must not relocate, by Fasheun

Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) Dr. Frederick Fasehun has called on Nigerians to prevail on the government to make sure founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) in Ikotun, Prophet Temitope Joshua, does not relocate from the country.

Reacting to the announcement by Joshua that he was relocating to Israel where he has been provided with land, building and facilities, Fasehun told reporters on Thursday in Lagos that all well-meaning Nigerians must intervene to change the relocation plan.

He said the relocation of the preacher would be one brain-drain too many, arguing it will be a national embarrassment for him to embark on self-exile.

He said Nigerians must do everything possible to ensure the popular televangelist rescinds the decision and remain at home to for his ministerial assignments.

Fashehun pointed out the church has turned Ikotun, a suburban part of Lagos to a Mecca of sort for local and foreign dignitaries since its establishment some 30 years ago.

He said: ‘’Thanks to Pastor Joshua, Ikotun has become a verifiable tourism hotspot for local and foreign worshipers, who flock the synagogue for verifiable healing, deliverance, miracles and prosperity.

“Nigeria stands to lose positive dividends currently bestowed by SCOAN on not just Ikotun Lagos but also on the entire country,’’ he said.

Spiritually speaking Fashehun stressed Nigeria will be losing a giant intercessor whose prayer and those of other men and women of God across all religions are helping to sustain the peace and sanity of the nation.

He lamented the planned SCOAN’s relocation amounts to losing the country’s reputedly biggest tourist attraction, the most visited destination point by religious tourists in West Africa.

He cited the report by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), which acknowledges the church hosts six of every 10 foreigners.

‘’We shall be losing the economic benefits and potentials or religious tourism, a sector in which SCOAN commands about 2 million local and international tourists annually,’’ he said.

He added: ‘’The airlines shall be losing customers coming to Lagos and several African, European, and Asian countries as well as the American and Australia.

“Local business and hotelier directly established to service patrons of this ministry will close shop.”

Nigeria, according to Fasheun, will also lose Joshua and SCOAN’s donations, charities and philanthropies worthy not less than N8billion in scholarships, disasters reliefs, house rent support, sports and sportsmen sponsorship and others.

Stating he is never a member of SCOAN, Fasheun said: ‘’I am an Anglican. I’m only speaking for him because I am an human right activist and I make case for anyone whose right and privileges are violated.”

He appreciated the pleas of Minister of Information Lai Mohammed on the prophet not to leave, the politician said government must immediately stop his ongoing judicial persecution.

He added that the government must not act like the envious ancient Jews did to Jesus.

“Government must ensure that this prophet received honour home not just abroad,” he appealed.

Meshi-Zahav presented Joshua with an award in honour of his extensive humanitarian efforts.

He praised the Nigerian preacher for intervening during the extensive heart quake in Haiti in 2010 by sending relief materials worth millions of dollars, including medical supplies and food items.

  • Lai Mohammed to T.B Joshua: Stay in Nigeria

Lai Mohammed to T.B Joshua: Stay in Nigeria

The Minister Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday urged the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Pastor Temitope  Balogun Joshua (T.B. Joshua) to reconsider his decision to relocate from Nigeria, saying such move will not in the best of the country.

The Synagogue founder has said during a church service on March 30 that he would relocate from Nigeria to Israel over what he described as hostile operating environment.

He said, “This is the most persecuted ministry in the world. Who are the people persecuting the ministry? My people, Africa.

“That is why I choose to live a lonely life. If you want to see me, come to this church. I don’t go out. It has not been easy – because I don’t know who is a friend or who is an enemy. If you learn T.B. Joshua is not around, I am in a revival. I live in the church here. I don’t have a house outside.”

“What happened to me from the beginning of my ministry is enough to chase me out of this country. But I am still in your midst. Upon the persecution and hatred, I decided to follow the path of love. You show hatred; I show love. When I go for a revival, you will see the stadium full but I am not carried away by that. I leave where I’m celebrated to live where I’m persecuted.”

However, the minister, in a chat with journalists during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian  Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), held in Ikeja, Lagos, described Joshua’s decision as unfortunate.

Mohammed called for dialogue between the pastor and the authorities over whatever challenges he was facing.

He said, “That will be very unfortunate in the sense that if he does move out, it will affect our tourism in Nigeria. Pastor Joshua is an important person, he must bear with us. This is his country. If he moves out and go to South Africa (for example), the revenue will go to South Africa. It is better that Pastor Joshua sits down with the relevant authority and resolve whatever problem he has. If I have access to him this is exactly what I am going to tell him.”

  • Mother of Edo Boy without genitals appeal for help

Mother of Edo Boy without genitals appeal for help

Testimony Atoe, aged 4, is a Nigerian child whose sex presently is neuter. The reason is that 4-years after he was born at Blessed hospital on Murtala Muhammed (MM) way in Benin City, the poor parents have not been able to raise the half a million Naira needed at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital to bring out the real sex! To the mother, he is a son!

According to Charity, the mother of Testimony who had two others before him, “He was born on 10th October 2011. When I was pregnant with him the female Medical doctor who works at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital that took my delivery told me that the baby breeched”.

She said the doctor also told her that she should be prayerful. “We were actually two expectant mothers who had breeched pregnancies. The other woman later had a normal delivery”.

Mrs Atoe had taken an ultra sound when the pregnancy was 9-months old to ascertain the sex of the Child and it turnout to be a male. The happy mother said sheclooked forward to her delivery date only to be shocked at the turn of events.

“My child’s delivery was very tough. Besides, after a successful delivery, the health workers refused to show him to me immediately …they spoke in low tones and did all they could to prevent me from seeing my baby”.

She recalled an episode one morning when a lady visitor to the Maternity Ward spoke in Esan dialect saying, “don’t allow this woman to see his child, else, she will faint because she is restless”.

At dusk on that same day, she said Testomony’s father, Mr. Osabuohien Atoe, who is  her husband arrived the Hospital and started walking around with some health workers helplessly.

Testimony’s mother said two weeks after his birth all one with her husband the baby was taken to the Special Care Baby Unit of the UBTH, ” where we saw scores of Children with similar health challenges waiting to see a doctor. My child was kept among them”.

She said the son’s genital organs were later operated upon two weeks after delivery even as the UBTH Management  assured her that the Bladder extrophy which was the medical condition of her son would require 3 subsequent surgical operations before it can be fully corrected.

“One Dr. Eguakhide, was my doctor who carried out the first surgery and still remains my doctor. While, we were waiting for the second surgery to be done, the first surgical operation failed while we were returning from his father’s house”, one morning.

She said, “When I arrived the scene, I saw the protruding reddish organ of my son, I fell and cried, oh God, help, help. My cry attracted my neighbours who came to console me to keep faith”.

Ever since she says , “I have been to several Miracle Pastors, including Pastor T. B Joshua, of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN)… In search of solutions to no avail”.

She recalls however she left Benin for Lagos in search of solution but ran into the dubious arms of a Christian sister who helped raise funds from publicly spirited individuals running into millions of Naira and made away with the huge sum.

“Frustration in Benin took me to Lagos where I was made me to know one Blessing Uzatu, who hails from Abia state, South eastern Nigeria. This was after the father of my Child sent me away from his house along with our two other Children over Testimony’s ailment”.

She spoke of how she was wondering around Ojuelegba area in Lagos in search of financial assistance to enable her son undergo the surgical operation and ran into Blessing Uzatu who encouraged her to take up shelter at the Lord’s Chosen church headquarters in Lagos.

“One day, I took Testimony to a market to beg for Alms. I met a boy who advised me to take my son to Redeemed church God at Ikeja, Lagos state headquarters. I became hungry and started scouting for food before I meant this pretty Lady at a shop where I bought sachet water”.

“The Lady who claimed to be a widow rode in a spot utility vehicle (SUV); when we met after an initial interaction with her, she wanted to know what took me and my three other children to Lagos”.

She said days after she met Blessing, she invited pressmen to interview her and even gave out her own name and account number to the public in the guise of raising funds for her son, Testimony.

“I got a phone call from a Germany based-Nigerian who claimed to have heared about my travail. The man sought to know if I was the mother of Testimony. He told me that he had donated an undisclosed amount into an account opened for my son in a bank by Blessing to enable Him carryout the operation”.

Mrs Atoe did not know the bank account or how individuals gave to her son until she saw pictures of herself and her son until she saw her son and her own photographs in some national dailies on the streets of Lagos and curiosity got the better of her.

“I was initially happy, thinking that the woman was a true helper. I became curious until a certain woman brought N500, 000 to Blessing Uzattu’s shop. They counted the sum of N100, 000 for Testimony. I was so foolish and ignorant. I though she meant well for me and my son”.

“Another man who brought the money one day met me looking pale and hungry, and promised to settle me with additional money so that after the operation I can rehabilitate myself”.

Mrs Atoe said she was aware that Blessing Uzattu who I nitiated the move to raise funds for Testimony’s surgery, opened a Zenith Bank account at Ikeja, for the purpose without any input from her.

“I’ve became suspcious on a certain day when we went to pay an undisclosed amount into the Zenith Bank Account at Ikeja, Lagos state. I was not privy to the details when a bank official , a lady stood up and said “Who is the mother of this baby -Testimony” between the two of you?”.

She added that, “The Bank official demanded to know why my photograph wa in the joint Account. After initial skepticism, she Blessing Uzattu, promised to provide my photograph to the Bank. Consequently an argument ensued between us over the total amount that was paid into the Account”.

“I learnt from Blessing Uzattu that the total amount paid into the Account was N3 million as against the N5.3 million which she initially admitted had come into the Bank Account on the day the bank officer challenged her over the Motherhood of the child”.

It was the altercation at the bank that led Blessing into withdrawing all the donations for Testimony’s surgery and disappearing into thin air, a development which saw Mother and child back in Benin City, still searching for a solution.

Will help come? Can Testimony have his manhood restored? At what cost? Fortunately the same UBTH had rescheduled the second operation for the umpteenth time to no avail.

The sum of N500, 000 is standing between the boy and life. He is out of school as a result of stigmatization and though ears like every other child, in the absence of a natural escape for urine, he bathes in the fluid.

The frustrated mother says, “The extension of dates was to enable me source for money to enable my son undertake the second and subsequent surgery for the Bladder extrophy as well as rehabilitation thereafter”.

She says, “I’m tired and I love Children. I do not want to throw away this child”

    Pastor’s aide: it’s not true

Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Founder Pastor Temitope Joshua has been linked to an offshore account on the British Virgin Islands (BVI) tax haven.

Although not known to be involved in any business besides evangelism, Pastor Joshua with his wife, Evelyn, according to online newspaper, Premium Times, own Chillon Consultancy Limited, a company incorporated on June 20, 2006, in the BVI.

The newspaper quoted from files it obtained from the massive leaked data of a Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonseca,

The pastor’s television station, Emmanuel TV, is believed to be one of the most viewed on the continent.

Both owners own one ordinary share each, although the company, with registration No. 1033675, is authorised to issue a maximum “50,000 no par value shares of a single class”.

According to the publication, the company had no physical presence in Tortola, the largest and most inhabited island on the islands.

Chillon Consultancy Limited uses the office address of its registered agent, Mossack Fonseca (Akara Bldg., 24 De Castro Street, Wickhams Cay 1, Road Town,Tortola) as its contact information on the BVI.

But a spokesman for Pastor Joshua dismissed the publication as “untrue”

“It is absolute rubbish,” declared Patrick Iwelumo, who said the pastor has no other thing doing than evangelism.

Iwelumo, who spoke in a telephone interview yesterday, added: “The man of God is not a slave to money. He is not a man after money. He has constantly distinguished himself as a man of God. The money from his ministry is used for the betterment of members. That is the only church where you go and get money for your transport. He blesses his members with his wealth.

“Apart from the church and Emmanuel TV, he has no other business. So, forget whatever you read in the Panama Papers about him.”

  • Synagogue: T.B. Joshua, contractor to give evidence November 5

Synagogue: T.B. Joshua, contractor to give evidence November 5

A Lagos Coroner investigating the collapse of a building at the Synagogue Church of All Nations has fixed November 5 for Prophet Temitope Joshua and the contractor in charge of the building to give evidence.

Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe fixed the date despite efforts by the church’s counsel, Jude Nnadi (SAN), to draw its attention to the fact that Joshua has no material evidence to give.

Nnadi had explained to the court that the church may not field Prophet Joshua because he was not an eyewitness, but Komolafe insisted that the prophet must appear as summoned for the purpose of investigation.

The Nigeria Police Force will also give evidence on that day, while South Africa, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the office of the Surveyor General of Lagos will testify on October 30.

‎Meanwhile, the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and the state Fire Service on Friday testified before the Coroner.

An operational officer of the fire service, Olayimika Adebayo, in his evidence, ‎countered the church’s position that the building collapsed as a result of implosion.

He said there was no sign of fire on the first day of the disaster, adding that an outbreak only occurred on the fourth day, September 15, which was caused by the shifting and moving of earth machines, iron rods and other free burning materials.

Olayimika said the Alausa Control room was called on September 12 at about 1:17pm by one Eze, who reported the incident.

He disclosed that 211‎ persons were in the building.
