Setting the record straight: The facts about Tambuwal’s legacy in Sokoto

    By Muhammad Akibu Dalhatu

By any measure of responsible discourse, Mr Sai’du Sani’s article, “Sokoto: A Backward Eye on Tambuwal’s Misses”, is less a critique and more a desperate exercise in political revisionism. It reads like a hit piece commissioned to whitewash today’s inadequacies by demonising yesterday’s stewardship.

Let us be clear: the easiest way to win political points in a fragile democracy is to inherit credit and assign blame. That Mr Sani has chosen this route is hardly surprising. What is surprising, however, is the wilful disregard for fact and context in his fevered attempt to erase the towering contributions of Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to the development of Sokoto State.

    1. Governance with Vision, Not Vengeance

Tambuwal’s tenure was defined by purposeful leadership, not performative optics. Contrary to Mr Sani’s insinuations, Tambuwal was never obsessed with self-glorification. He focused on policy reform, institutional strengthening, and investment in human capital.

One of his most remarkable legacies was in basic education, where Sokoto — historically one of the lowest-ranking states in literacy and school enrolment — began to record measurable progress. Under his leadership:

    • Sokoto State became a national model for girls’ education, through strategic partnerships with UNICEF, which commended the state for increasing girl-child enrolment by over 100,000 pupils between 2016 and 2020.

    • His administration implemented a Cash Transfer Programme to incentivise poor families to enrol and retain their children in school, particularly girls.

    • Tambuwal also introduced free uniforms, sandals, and instructional materials for over 500,000 pupils, in partnership with the World Bank-supported Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) initiative.

In recognition of these efforts, the World Bank ranked Sokoto as one of the best-performing states under the BESDA programme, both in terms of implementation and impact. This led to increased funding from development partners and allowed the state to scale up its non-formal learning centres in hard-to-reach areas.

He also approved the recruitment and training of over 2,000 qualified teachers, along with a 20% increase in salaries for teachers posted to rural communities, further improving motivation and quality of service delivery in public schools.

His administration built over 1,500 classrooms across the state, rehabilitated dormant schools, ensured the prompt payment of teachers’ salaries, and introduced a rigorous education quality assurance framework to monitor teaching standards.

In effect, Tambuwal’s education reforms were not only visible — they were measurable, recognised, and applauded by both local and international institutions.

Beyond education, Tambuwal championed governance reforms that enhanced transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. His administration’s achievements in prudent financial management were also recognised by the World Bank under the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) programme. Sokoto State received multiple commendations and financial grants under SFTAS for meeting stringent criteria on budget credibility, financial reporting, debt sustainability, and procurement reforms — clear evidence that governance under Tambuwal was not just ambitious, but accountable and transparent.

His administration also prioritised healthcare delivery, upgrading dozens of primary healthcare centres and launching one of the most ambitious maternal and child health programmes in Sokoto’s history.

    2. Water infrastructure and misplaced claims

It is laughable — if not tragic — that water delivery is now being paraded as the singular metric of governance success. Tambuwal’s administration invested in sustainable solutions, including the expansion of water schemes and the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure such as the Goronyo and Shagari dams. Water, like governance, is not resolved overnight — especially not in mere months, as Mr Sani would have the public believe. Indeed, even in criticising Tambuwal, his detractors are compelled to measure success by the foundations he laid.

    3. Transparency and Transition

The claim that Tambuwal left no handover notes is not only false — it is absurd. Official documentation, audited accounts, and administrative records were duly handed over to the incoming administration. If chaos exists today, it is not a legacy of the past; it is a consequence of the present.

    4. Financial Responsibility

On the issue of state finances, Tambuwal did not run a government of slogans. Every naira expended was documented and subjected to audit. If there are credible allegations concerning the sale of state assets, the current administration possesses both the files and the legal authority to act. What it cannot do is rewrite a record that is already in the public domain.

    5. The Integrity of Silence

Tambuwal has maintained a dignified silence since leaving office — not from fear, but from a deep understanding of the burden of leadership. His political career has spanned the legislature, the executive, and the diplomatic corridors of the nation. He need not respond to every outburst or provocation. His legacy is measured in commissioned projects, instituted reforms, and improved lives — not in sirens, headlines, or social media theatrics.

    6. A Governor, Not a Gladiator

Leadership is not defined by attacking one’s predecessors. It is defined by the capacity to build upon their efforts, improve systems, and take responsibility. To govern through bitterness and blame is to miss the very essence of public service.

Tambuwal remains a national figure of substance — not because of curated online nostalgia, but because his record transcends party lines and withstands the test of time. He is not battling irrelevance; he is rising above pettiness and political theatrics.

To those who think Sokoto forgets, we say this: the people remember who led with humility, who governed with vision, and who respected the mandate they were given. And yes — they will remember again in 2027.

History is not shaped by propaganda. It is shaped by truth, by people, and by time. And time, as always, is on the side of those who served with honour.

2027: PDP rebuilding for victory, says Tambuwal

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has assured that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is actively re-strategizing to position itself for victory in the 2027 elections.

Speaking in Sokoto on Monday during the distribution of Ramadan food items to party leaders, members, families, and groups across the state, Tambuwal emphasized the party’s renewed political focus and determination.

He urged those overseeing the distribution to carry out the exercise with sincerity and commitment to ensure it reaches the intended beneficiaries.

Tambuwal, a former governor and current senator representing Sokoto West, reaffirmed the PDP’s strong connection with its members at all levels.

He expressed confidence that the party is gaining more acceptance and rebuilding its base, particularly by engaging the youth ahead of 2027.

He also commended PDP representatives and state assembly members for their dedication to their constituents, describing their efforts as crucial in strengthening the party’s support.

State PDP Chairman, Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo, echoed Tambuwal’s sentiments, stating that the party is becoming stronger and more focused in its opposition strategy.

  • Tambuwal under fire for attacking APC defectors

Tambuwal under fire for attacking APC defectors

Senator Aminu Tambuwal yesterday came under fire for attacking defectors to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ruling party said it is erroneous for the former Sokoto State governor to blame PDP’s woes on another party, stressing that the main opposition party is assailed by trust deficit.

APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru said the party would continue to enlarge its coast to accommodate defectors from opposition parties.

He said although the defections are painful to the PDP, the trend would continue because the main opposition party has failed to put its house in order.

Basiru, who reacted to Tambuwal’s remarks about the gale of defections pointed out that the former Sokoto State governor lacked a basic understanding of factors underlying the defections.

He said APC is waxing stronger because Nigerians believe in the fruits of Tinubu’s government’s bold reforms across sectors, adding that the Renewed Hope Agenda is being successfully implemented across the critical sectors.

Also, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the defectors are fascinated by the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He said in a statement in Abuja that chieftains who dumped PDP and others parties for APC merely exercised their freedom of association and assembly.

Many chieftains of the PDP,  Labour Party and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have defected to the APC in many states, including Kano, Kaduna, Enugu, Osun, Ebonyi, Delta and Katsina states.

In Kano, many opposition figures had defected to the APC, following aggressive mobilization.

At the weekend, thousands of opposition members who left their platforms for the ruling party were received in Kaduna by Governor Uba Sani.

Party insiders said PDP has been rattled by these defections, particularly the defection of notable federal lawmakers and other big wigs.

Tambuwal told reporters at the weekend that politicians who have conscience cannot defect to the ruling party.

The former House of Representatives Speaker spoke in Kaduna after the Northwest PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

He said the current economic situation in the country ought to make the membership of the  APC unattractive, adding that politicians defecting from the PDP to the APC are “driven by stomach infrastructure.”

Tambuwal said: “People leave parties for certain reasons or for different reasons, but what I have been observing is that defections are not based on the interest of the people but based on stomach infrastructure.

“If you are talking about defecting in the interest of the people, I believe no one can go to the APC. If you are a politician with a conscience, with the current policies being driven by the government of the APC….

“The current economic doldrum caused by APC has driven Nigerians into hardship across the country, and with the dismal performance of the Tinubu administration, there is nothing attractive outside stomach infrastructure.”

    “Tambuwal is politically inconsistent’

However, Basiru, who described Tambuwal as an unserious politician, said it is curious that the former governor does not understand the motivation for dumping PDP by its big wigs.

He said Tambuwal is an inconsistent politician, adding that from his trajectory of politics, he has not shown a modicum of principle in politics.

Basiru added: “He has not shown, from his history of politics, that he is a politician of conscience. So, he is not capable of making any comment that any serious politician will take serious.

“The truth is that today, the party that is sought after by Nigerians is APC. It appears that Tambuwal and his co- travellers are in severe pain because they cannot understand how they have lost large number of followers in Kano, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Osun.

“Any politician worth his salt will not want to associate with PDP that cannot settle its crisis in a peaceful and acceptable manner.”

Basiru pointed out that PDP is enmeshed in “acrimonious crises,” adding that the party cannot be a signpost for peace and development.

He said instead of taking an undeserved swipe at the APC, Tambuwal and his co-travellers in PDP should cover their faces in shame for their inability to run the affairs of their party.

Basiru said PDP is agonising over its loss at a time the APC is consolidating as the ruling party.

He stressed: “As of now, we are busy with governance, delivering the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and consolidating our dominance of the Southeast, as we are working hard to win the next Anambra governorship election.

“Our advice to them is to immediately collapse their dilapidated structure and find other job to do, apart from politicking. If they want to do politics, they should come and join the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Tinubu. Otherwise, they should go and look for another job to do.”

Morka: he is a serial defector

Morka said Tambuwal who live in a glass house had thrown stones, adding that he is “a notorious and vainglorious party defector.”

The Publicity Secretary said “his comments more aptly  characterised his own convoluted record of defections from the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) to the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) in 2007 and back to ANPP and then off  to the PDP, and decamping in 2014 to APC and finally crawling back to PDP, ignominiously, in 2018.”

Morka added: “By his assertions, Tambuwal’s itinerant defections were in chase of “stomach infrastructure”, purely self-serving and without any conscience. A wandering politician like Tambuwal lacks the moral turpitude to comment on the intentions of politicians who have defected from a crisis-ridden PDP to our great Party.

“Contrary to Tambuwal’s  jibe, members of the PDP are joining APC, ostensibly, to identify with President Bola Tinubu’s bold economic reform agenda  in the face of growing and undeniable positive indications of a resurgent Nigeria. Many of the defectors have offered this as the raison d’etre for their defection, quite apart from the fact that the PDP is in a state of bedlam, and is now an unrecognizable shadow of its old self.

“Recently, for the first time in many years, on President Tinubu’s vigilant watch, the country has surpassed its  Organisation of Petroluem Exporting Countries’ (OPEC’s) quota of 1.5 mbpd. This remarkable feat is attributable to a combination of factors, from vastly improved security to purpose-driven oil sector reforms.

“Similarly, the country has recorded consistent trade surpluses; increased Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs); high yielding stock market; enhanced foreign reserve and numerous other indices of a steadily rebounding economy.

“Instead of begrudging citizens for exercising their fundamental freedom of association, Tambuwal and fellow political villains, like former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, should accept responsibility for the political carnage in the PDP, apologize to their members and maintain a humble and penitent disposition going forward.”

    PDP going down, says Etta

Former member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) Chief Hillard Etta said Tambuwal’s lack of understanding about party building explains why PDP is consistently diminishing in strength.

    ‘Tambuwal is wrong’

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, said Tambuwal’s assessment of defections is wrong.

He said: “Reducing the current movement to the APC to stomach infrastructure smacks of political naivety. This is too pedestal for somebody of his standing.”

Okorie said the defections underscired the realignment of forces ahead of 2027.

He stressed: “Before the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was defeated in 2015, it lost many of its leading lights to the then emerging mega party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“The likes of Atiku Abubakar and Bukola Saraki left the PDP to join the APC.  Can we say those calibres of politicians, known to be very wealthy, did so because of stomach infrastructure? That is why I say he is not reading the political barometer correctly. This development is normal in the Nigerian political space.

“As we speak, some politicians in the APC are planning to leave the party and are not hiding it. They include the likes of Lukman, Nasir el-Rufai and many others, especially from the Northwest, who have complained loudly that the APC betrayed their trust and that they would give President Bola Tinubu the Goodluck Jonathan treatment.

“What does that mean? It simply means they would also be moving out of the party, believing their action would bring it down. So, the movement is not one-sided; it is not just about PDP members joining the APC, members of the ruling party are also going elsewhere. This is because many political parties are eyeing a merger with others.”

Former VON DG slams Tambuwal over criticism of PDP defectors to APC

…says PDP’s leadership trust deficit stimulates defection

A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, has criticized former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, for stating that no one with a conscience would join the ruling party.

Okechukwu, a former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), argued that the wave of defections to the APC is driven by a trust deficit in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, he dismissed Tambuwal as unfit to speak on matters of conscience, accusing him of colluding with PDP leaders to weaken the party, ultimately leading to the defections.

Tambuwal had made his remarks during the North West Zonal meeting of the PDP, where he expressed disappointment over members leaving for the APC.

According to the lawmaker, “I believe that no one with conscience will join the APC. People leave parties for different reasons, but what I have been observing in recent times are defections not based on the interest of the people but on stomach infrastructure.”

Reacting to this, Okechukwu retorted that the wave of the defections is basically the outcome of erroneous breach of the rotation convention of President and Section 7 of the PDP’s Constitution of which Tambuwal was one of the masterminds.

“One cannot fathom how my friend Senator Tambuwal didn’t rate the breach of the rotation convention, especially against his erstwhile bosom friend Nyesom Wike, Minister of FCT; who backed him in 2018 presidential primary when no aspirant of southern extraction in the PDP contested in obedience to the rotation convention as unconscionable?

“This is the offshoot of Wike Masquerade raging” – Okechukwu submitted.

He reminded Tambuwal and his cohorts that some patriotic members of the PDP are defecting because the party has been demobilised, irretrievably wreckage rendered and ineffective to play its traditional role of main opposition party.

On the impending coalition or merger to dislodge APC in 2027 presidential election, Okechukwu replied that the greed in the party will not allow them to forge solid merger.

He said they have already started cooking up awkward permutation of south 17 and north 11 years in Aso Villa, just to rupture again the rotation convention, as if Nigeria got independence in 1999.

“Tambuwal and cohorts act as if they have 100% votes of the north in their pocket and albeit the northern electorates are quarantined in a dormitory to be hauled to the polling booth on election day.

“Their masterminds always forget that the northern electorates are one of the most sophisticated in the country and cannot be toyed with.

“Or do they think that the southeastern electorates that put all their eggs in one PDP’s electoral basket, even when APC presented Rt. Honourables Chuba Okadigbo and Edwin Umezoke in 2003 and 2007 as vice presidents respectively are amnesia stricken? The defection is not about stomach infrastructure, it’s about PDP’s leadership trust deficit.” Okechukwu insisted.

  • Group slams Atiku, Tambuwal, El-Rufai, others over coalition against Tinubu

Group slams Atiku, Tambuwal, El-Rufai, others over coalition against Tinubu

The Joint Action on Democracy (JAD) has sounded the alarm over a recent meeting by prominent politicians, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Nasiru el-Rufai and Abubakar Malami.

A statement by JAD President, Ambassador Moses Oriri, said:

“We have since learnt that these failed politicians’ anger was because President Bola Tinubu bravely initiated reforms that are already showing results.

“As a consequence, these charlatans do not stand any chance in the next general elections even if they band together, hence their resort to anti-democratic means to force a regime change.

“JAD urges Nigerians to note that these people have in the past overseen jurisdictions that descended into violence, some of which continue to manifest as the insecurity that the country is tackling today. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s outing as Sokoto State Governor is pivotal to the birth of banditry.

“Nasiru el-Rufai’s tenure as Kaduna State governor birthed kidnap for ransom after he bizarrely made huge payments to rampaging herders of his ethnic stock, a phenomenon that opened the eyes of criminals to how they can abduct Nigerians to make money, and which later fused into banditry.

“Rotimi Amaechi’s tenure as the governor of Rivers State cannot be divorced from the arming of militants who later crippled the nation’s oil infrastructure which is now only being rebuilt. This failed state scenario is what they plan to replicate on a national scale.

“We have also seen in the past how the likes of Atiku and Obi incited public sentiments against the government, something they will continue to do irrespective of who occupies the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Such incitement includes clandestinely sponsoring insurrection in the name of popular citizens’ protests and precipitate an interim or transitional government that is alien to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

“We are further concerned that given utterances from the recent meeting at which these people alluded to a ‘weak government’, their series of recent clandestine meetings with foreign interests, the incitement of citizens to engage in violent protests, desperate attempts to cobble together an alliance that is doomed to fail, and baseless attacks on the government, this collection of politicians are up to mischief that could undermine Nigeria’s democracy.”

JAD urged the authorities to take firm action against any attempt to destabilise the country.

The organisation emphasised the situation requires the application of the law rather than just issuing statements.

Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, and his Plateau counterpart, Caleb Mutfwang have donated to the completion of permanent site of the University on the Niger, Umunya, Anambra State.

Others donors were Senator Aminu Tambuwal and former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, thanked the donors “for prioritising education and expressing the reality that the idea of a university is beyond geography.”

Chidoka, the commencement speaker at the institution’s inaugural matriculation, was appointed by Bishop on the Niger, Rev Owen Nwokolo, as Chairman of the Task Force for the relocation of the University to her permanent site.

Chidoka, who doubles as Chancellor of the Athena Center for Policy and Leadership, called for support to the university by investing in her numerous projects.

He said: You are not just building structures; you are moulding lives, careers and futures.

“As the Chairman of the Task Force, I had invited some of my friends to the event, and some responded. I want to thank the eminent Nigerians for their immediate response despite the suddenness of the invitation.”

Declaring the University open, Primate of Anglican Communion, Most Rev Dr Henry Ndukuba, described the project as meaningful.

He commended the Diocesan Bishop and his wife, Dr Nonyelum Nwokolo, his priests and entire parishioners for successfully establishing the institution.

Peter Obi recalled how he gave the current site to the Diocese and urged the Task Force Chairman to do more.

“Osita, as Chairman of the Task Force, you have done well, but you have more friends than this, so you must raise at least N1bn for the University.”

  • Tambuwal’s shadowy fight with Sokoto governor

Tambuwal’s shadowy fight with Sokoto governor

    • By Yakubu Mohammed

The relentless and underhanded campaign being waged by  the PDP in Sokoto through Shafi’u Umar Tureta and others against Governor Ahmed Aliyu  is nothing short of a proxy war orchestrated by former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. Tureta, a so-called “activist,” is, in reality, nothing more than a political lackey of Tambuwal, driven by a mission to destabilize the Sokoto State government and undermine the remarkable strides Governor Ahmed Aliyu is making.

It is imperative to debunk the lie perpetuated by Amnesty International (AI) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Tureta is an activist.  In fact, before now, Shafi’u just like other people living in Tureta, a village along Sokoto — Gusau road was a mere village boy struggling in his farm to feed. Therefore, this label of being an activist has been shamelessly hijacked by those who engage in reckless and unfounded attacks, hoping to shield themselves under the guise of advocacy when they are held accountable. How does a struggling farmer whose village has always  been under bandits attack become an “activist” overnight? Tureta’s Facebook page ( if  really it belongs to him) reveals his true colours: a village political operative working to further Tambuwal’s ambitions for 2027, a man determined to topple the man who dared challenge him in the 2019 and 2023 elections and emerged victorious.

Tureta’s attempts to sully Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s name, particularly in his posts, are blatant provocations aimed at sowing discord and eroding public trust in the government. For instance, his baseless criticisms of the governor’s initiative to purchase 300 trucks of rice to be sold at a 50% discount to the people of Sokoto are nothing but desperate lies. Tureta conveniently omits the fact that unlike Tambuwal, Governor Ahmed Aliyu  didn’t burden the state with loans for this project and that the rice is being sold at a significant loss to alleviate the suffering of Sokoto’s poor.

More infuriating is Tureta’s silence on the monumental failures of his mentor, Tambuwal, whose administration left behind a legacy of debt, unpaid salaries, and dilapidated infrastructure.  However, Tureta cannot be blamed for his ignorance as a village farmer who is being used for a political purpose. Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s prudent management, in contrast, is a thorn in the side of the PDP, which finds itself increasingly irrelevant as the governor delivers where Tambuwal failed.

Again, the attack on the government’s recent amendment to the Local Government Law of 2009 is yet another example of  blind allegiance to a failed past. The amendment, which Tambuwal and his fellow agents of destabilization decry, was a necessary step to align the law with the Constitution and improve governance. Yet, these shameless critics would rather distort the truth than acknowledge progress.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration has shown time and again that it is committed to the rule of law and good governance, in stark contrast to the lawlessness of the Tambuwal era. The governor’s refusal to retaliate against Tureta’s provocations through extrajudicial means is a testament to his respect for due process. Tureta was rightly charged in court after thorough investigations by the Nigeria Police Force confirmed that he had circulated injurious falsehoods. The law will take its course, and Tureta will have to face the consequences of his actions.

Tambuwal’s refusal to provide a handover note to Governor Ahmed Aliyu after leaving behind an empty treasury with over N14 billion in unpaid gratuities and over N195 billion from sales of government assets are perhaps the most glaring examples of his callous disregard for the people of Sokoto. In contrast, Governor Ahmed Aliyu  has demonstrated compassion by beginning the process of clearing these debts, with a commitment to pay N500 million monthly to retirees who have been left in the lurch for years. For the records, Tambuwal and his fellow treasury looters are remitting to the state government what they illegally siphoned from the people’s commonwealth.

It’s clear that Tureta’s antics are part of a broader strategy by Tambuwal to distract from his own failures. But no amount of propaganda can change the fact that Governor Ahmed Aliyu is delivering where Tambuwal failed. The people of Sokoto will not be swayed by the lies of a disgruntled former governor and his minions. Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s performance in office is the ultimate rebuke to Tambuwal’s failed leadership. The people are watching, and they know who truly has their interests at heart.

Tambuwal’s desperate attempts to sabotage Governor Ahmed Aliyu  will only backfire, as the people of Sokoto have seen through the facade. They understand that Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration is one of integrity, progress, and genuine concern for their welfare. No amount of deceit or manipulation can tarnish the achievements of a leader who has dedicated himself to uplifting Sokoto State from the depths of mismanagement left by his predecessor. The truth is on the side of Governor Ahmed Aliyu  and that truth will continue to shine, no matter how dark the shadow of Tambuwal’s schemes may be.

The whole drama lies in performance. With just a little over one year in office, the APC administration under the able leadership of a young and dynamic progressive governor has changed the narratives by achieving what Tambuwal spent eight years and couldn’t do.

Within one year, education, health, agriculture and social investments have improved tremendously and this is why Tambuwal and his PDP co.travelers are very angry simply because Sokoto is working again.

Tambuwal tasks Nigerians on nation building

Former governor of Sokoto state, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has urged Nigerians to believe in the country as patriotic citizens who can drive the needed change for nation’s prosperity.

He asked Nigerians to embrace reality and rally support for the country to be great.

He said: “The country is exposed to multitudes of challenges which need to be addressed.”

Tambuwal spoke on Friday, March 29, in Sokoto at the flag off of distribution of food items for Ramadan and sallah celebration to 30,000 PDP state, local government excos, members and associations.

He said Nigerians must reduce the dosage of partisanship for nation building.

“Nigeria needs peace as a nation and this is the right time to collectively pray for the country.

“We are in the holy month of Ramadan. We should exhibit the spirit of tolerance, sacrifice, prayer and forgiveness. Is a beautiful moment in our national life” he pointed out.

According to Tambuwal, “We must not leave any matter unattended to especially the issue of insecurity.

“As a former governor who had experience security challenges in the Eastern axis of my state , I seized the opportunity to talk with security chiefs recently.

“We need to collaborate in synergy as leaders to see to the establishment of long lasting peace and security of our country. All hands must be on deck to ensure Sokoto state and Nigeria are secured.

Although, Senator Tambuwal who noted that the recently inaugurated Sokoto State Community Guards initiative was on track, said invitation was never extended to him.

“We want Sokoto to be free from the security challenges and whenever I am invited, I will surely honour that and will continue to render all the necessary support needed to make the state better”, he declared.

However, Tambuwal for the first time, reacted on the state 2023 governorship election that PDP won the polls, stressing that the party was still strong and vibrant.

“Every one in Sokoto knows that”, while assuring of giving good representation in the Senate by serving his constituents and the state especially with the current hardship.

“Be rest assured that your mandate is not to the wrong representation and know that the 2024 national budget will surely reflect in our drive for the state.

“I urge you to cooperate with security agencies for the peace and stability of the state and Nigeria which belongs to all of us.”

In his opening remarks, the state PDP chairman, Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo said the gesture was aimed at relieving households of the current hardship in demonstration of the party’s spirit of empathy and kindness.

Goronyo who also expressed appreciation to party members for their resilience and support remarked that ” we now know that opposition APC lacked the spirit of empathy for the rising level of hardship occasioned by poverty, hunger and insecurity.

“These items will go round and across the 244 wards.”

Nigeria needs urgent solutions, says Tambuwal

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has said that the country is in dire need of urgent solutions, emphasizing the need for leaders and citizens alike to reassess and revitalize the country amidst ongoing challenges.

He urged Nigerians to engage in honest introspection and collaborate in the nation’s restoration.

Tambuwal also reiterated the importance of empathy in leadership, highlighting the accountability that comes with trust.

“Journalism is service to humanity in the interest of the nation. Nigeria needs every one of us as a driver. The country is in the ICU for resuscitation.

“Is now that the country needs your professional strength for the needed change. We need to collectively give hope to the country and its citizens.”
