Minister of Transportation, Senator Ahmed Sa’idu Alkali, and his Marine and Blue Economy counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola, have been confirmed to participate in the 2025 Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) Summit scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, in Lagos.

The annual summit, which debuted in 2024, has quickly become a rallying point for policy makers, regulators, operators, and other critical stakeholders in the transport industry to interrogate sectoral challenges and chart fresh paths for growth.

This year’s edition, the second in the series, will run under the theme: “Driving the Transport Logistics Value Chains for Economic Growth.”

Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, will deliver the keynote address, while panel sessions will dissect topical issues, including intermodal cargo evacuation from the ports, the proposed waterways transportation code and the challenges of enforcement, “100 years of aviation in Nigeria: Gains and missed opportunities,” and maritime insecurity with its implications for trade routes.

According to TCAN Chairman, Mr. Tola Adenubi, the summit has already generated robust interest across the transport value chain, reflecting the urgency of sector-wide collaboration.

“We are thrilled by the interest this summit has generated and we are convinced that it would galvanise actions towards addressing the challenges of Nigeria’s transport logistics value chain,” Adenubi said.

He stressed that sustainable reforms in transportation would only be achieved when stakeholders: operators, regulators, and investigators speak with one voice to optimise opportunities in the system.

The TCAN chairman further advised agencies and companies in the transport industry to leverage the summit as a platform to showcase their contributions to national logistics development.

TCAN, a subgroup of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), draws its membership from correspondents across major newspapers, television, and online media platforms dedicated to transportation coverage.

TCAN commends Tinubu for inspiring New Year message

Supporters of the President under the auspices of the Tinubu Continuity Advocacy Network (TCAN) have expressed commendation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s New Year 2025 message to Nigerians, describing it as a “soothing balm” for the nation.

A statement on Saturday by Mr. Damson Okaniba, National Chairman of TCAN and

Nelson Abali Esq., Bayelsa State Lead, said the sentiments expressed in the President’s address resonated with the challenges and aspirations of the populace as Nigerians embark on a new year filled with potential.

The leadership duo of TCAN expressed satisfaction with the Tinubu administration’s steadfast commitment to nation-building.

They emphasised the administration’s focused approach to tackling existing challenges, which is reflected in the projected positive economic outlook for 2025.

TCAN leaders highlighted the stock market is showing robust growth, signaling an upturn in economic confidence and investment.

They asserted that an increase in foreign direct investments was paving the way for new opportunities and employment for Nigerians.

They stated that efforts to manage inflation rates were yielding results, aiding local production and making essential goods more affordable.

The TCAN leaders noted that the Tinubu’s administration’s initiatives to enhance credit access for individuals and underserved groups were crucial for fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

They said the imminent launch of the National Values Charter and plans to host the Youth Confab demonstrate the government’s dedication to involving the youth in nation-building and promoting civic responsibilities.

The group said the continuous reforms and strategic partnerships were being implemented to ensure sustainable growth and development across Nigeria.

The duo stated that the ongoing infrastructural projects were laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and improved quality of life for all Nigerians.

In light of these positive developments, TCAN leaders urged vocal critics and naysayers to adopt a constructive and patriotic stance.

The organisation further called for a unified approach in sharing ideas that contribute to the betterment of Nigeria, rather than resorting to destructive criticisms that do not serve the nation’s interests.

They said: “As we move forward into 2025, TCAN remains optimistic about the prospects ahead and reaffirms its commitment to supporting the administration in its endeavours towards progress and prosperity for all Nigerians.

TCAN also commended the Niger Delta Development Commission’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku and his team for giving effect to President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda in the Niger Delta.

They indicated that the Ogbuku led NDDC had taken the Federal Government closer to the rural communities and people of the region and urged him to continue the good work and not to relax on his laurels.
