    TNN plans membership registration

Team New Nigeria (TNN) has said it would commence a nationwide membership registration on December 6, 2025.

The organisation took the decision during a meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) at the weekend.

The BoT also approved the establishment of a National Conference Organising Committee to oversee the organisation of a befitting national convention for the emerging political movement.

The BoT resolved that there is a need to review the association’s membership base and immediately resume registration across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

A statement signed by Prof Morgan Gambo, Secretary, National Communication Bureau, TNN said: “Consequently, the BoT approved that the membership registration exercise will begin simultaneously in all 774 local government areas on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

“The registration shall start from the ward level in each of the eight thousand, eight hundred and nine (8,809) council wards in Nigeria. All registration materials will be made available to ward officials by Thursday, December 4, 2025.”

“TNN leaders at the state, senatorial district, local government, and ward levels have been directed to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible process. The party emphasised that there shall be no registration by proxy, adding that the registration form is free of charge and not for sale.”

TNN recalled that its online and physical membership registration first commenced on December 15, 2023.

It added that since then, a total of 43,607,700 registration transactions have been recorded, making TNN “the greatest crowd-pulling platform in Nigeria today.”

“We enjoin all members to cooperate and encourage others to join us in our common quest to rebuild a Nigeria that works for us all,” the statement added.

INEC under pressure not to register TNN – Spokesman

Team New Nigeria (TNN) has raised concerns over alleged pressure from “high quarters” on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stall its registration as a political party in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by TNN spokesperson Dr. Mohammed Adah Shaibu, the group revealed that it had applied for registration since 2024 and received an acknowledgement from INEC on May 27, 2024.

However, despite exceeding the mandatory 90-day response period outlined in the Commission’s guidelines, INEC has yet to open the registration portal or formally respond.

Shaibu expressed frustration over the delay, questioning how long the group must wait before gaining official recognition.

He emphasised that TNN has a nationwide presence and requires sufficient time to deliver its manifesto to the electorate.

The party’s Publicity Secretary further alleged that INEC Chairman Professor Yakubu Mahmoud is resisting external pressure to block TNN’s registration, intensifying concerns over political interference in the process.

“There is no doubt that INEC is under tremendous pressure, from both the card-carrying APC members of the Commission and their collaborators, who are mortally afraid of the TNN, and who will want the electoral body to commence, right now, the process of rigging the 2027 election in their favour.

”But we urge INEC not to compromise its neutrality and integrity by acting contrary to the law. We remind the Commission that Nigerians are keenly watching how it will handle this TNN issue, and whatever it does will determine whether or not Nigerians can count on it to organise free, fair and credible elections in 2027, the statement said.

He also said, “Given the already overheated polity ahead of the 2027 elections, we believe INEC will not do anything that will aggravate the situation,” he said.

He urged the commission to comply with its Regulations/Guidelines and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which would in turn enable his group registration as a political party in accordance with the laws of the land and to contest elections across all strata from local government council elections to the general elections.

Meanwhile, TNN has appealed to all the supporters of what it called ‘the emerging New Nigeria across the country to remain calm over the registration issue.

”We know that many of our teeming supporters are upset by the report of the shenanigans in INEC over this issue. But they need to remain law-abiding as we await the decision of the INEC.
