    Singer Tekno denies collapsing in South Africa

    Afrobeat singer Tekno has dismissed reports that he collapsed while performing in South Africa. 

    In a recent Instagram post, Tekno assured fans that he is in good health and not even in South Africa.

    The singer expressed concerns for the person in the viral video that sparked the rumors, wishing them well. 

    “Hey guys, I’m hale and hearty and not currently in South Africa. I hope whoever that was in the video is doing well and ok. Thank you, guys. Love you,” he wrote on Instagram.

    Tekno’s statement was corroborated by his colleague, Mr. Eazi, who also debunked the rumors.

    Singer and entrepreneur, Mr. Eazi has welcomed his colleague, Tekno in a partnership with his record label, Empawa Africa.

    Mr. Eazi announced this on the microblogging platform X, where he introduced Tekno as both a partner and investor in the label.

    Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr Eazi highlighted the transformative potential of the collaboration.

    According to Mr. Eazi, the goal of their new alliance is to help artists maintain both financial and creative freedom, ensuring they can retain ownership stakes in the company that their intellectual property helps build.

This deal ushers a new phase of @emPawaAfrica, and will see us working with African Artists at different stages of their careers who want to maintain financial & creative freedom but even more importantly who wanna own part of the company their IP is building!”

    Tekno denies receiving N1bn royalty from Kizz Daniel’s ‘Buga’

    Singer, Tekno has reacted to the ongoing rumour that he received over N1bn in royalties from Kizz Daniel on popular hit song “Buga.”

    A rumour has been circulating that Tekno claimed Kizz Daniel gave him royalties totaling more than N1bn for their collaboration on “Buga.”

    The report also claimed that Kizz Daniel sends him 50% of every revenue he generates from the song.

    Tekno responded by disputing these assertions and hurling curses at whoever released what he dismissed as a fake interview.

    Posting on his X, Tekno wrote: “Him money no reach, anybody wey put out that fake interview, thunder fire your mama…#Talkingshit”

    Reacting to his disclaimer, some X users deemed his revelation as unnecessary.

    Abazz said: “Na lie tekno you no want make people come beg you for money na why.”

    Omolomo said: “Your first statement “Him money no reach” isn’t necessary. I hope you know.”

    Afropop singer, Augustine Kelechi, popularly known as Tekno, has disclosed that he is a selfish person because he loves himself deeply.

    The ‘Pana’ crooner emphasised that his utmost priority in life is to enjoy himself.

    He made this revelation in a recent interview with content creator Franck Fun, held in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.

    Tekno said: “My name is Kelechukwu Augustine. I am an indigene of Ebonyi State. I’m from Ivo local government.

    “I love myself so much. I am a very selfish person. But it’s okay to be selfish. Because for life na only dem born and na only you go walka go.

    “I’m happy to be home in Ebonyi. I’m here to try the food. I’ve eaten so many foods abroad. I’m an American boy. So, I’m back home now to taste some local dishes. And I’m happy to be back home.”

    Tekno concluded by advising young people to enjoy themselves no matter what.

    He said: “In everything you do, make sure you enjoy life.”

    Singer Tekno created Afrobeats, says Comedian Koffi

    Popular Nigerian comedian, Koffi Idowu Nuel popularly known as Koffi, has asserted that singer, Tekno pioneered and created the afrobeats genre of music.

    The comic master said afrobeats couldn’t get to the Western world not until Tekno added “samples and bounces” to it, stressing that Tekno produced Davido’s hit song ‘IF’ which was “the first afrobeats song to go international”.

    Koffi stated this in a recent interview with Galaxy TV, while faulting social media for relegating him when he was sick.

    He said: “Tekno is the man that created afrobeats. Beat me, fight me, I will defend it to the core.

    “Before afrobeats could cross globally, everybody was just trying to find the appealing sound. But you see those sampling sounds and then the bounces, it was Tekno that discovered it.

    “He was the one that brought ‘Pana’ and did that very nice video, and people were like, ‘Okay oh.’ Then he handed it over to Davido. ‘If’ and ‘Fall’ by Davido, it was Tekno that created it, and they were the first two [afrobeats] songs that really went global.

    “And then Tekno was the same man that, whilst he was not able to do his thing, gave up ‘Buga.’ He has contributed quietly in a lot of ways. But because he was ill and did not showcase his pain to social media, they relegated him.”

    Popular Nigerian disk jockey and singer, Florence Otedola a.k.a. DJ Cuppy is now a proud owner of a customised Rolls Royce Phantom estimated at N162 million.

    The 26-year-old daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, made this known on Friday in her Instagram handle @cuppymusic with a picture of the car.

    “After a 13 month wait, finally picked up my new specially built order! Florence Ote #NewYearNewRide.’’

    Cuppy, who is also a producer won Best Female DJ at the 2015 Nigerian Entertainment Award.

    The Green Light crooner also collaborated with artists such as Tekno, Sarkodie in `Vybe,’ `Currency’ where she featured L.A.X, `Werk’ featuring Skuki and `Charge Up’ with MasterKraft.

    Popular Nigerian music producer, Augustine Kelechi a.k.a. Tekno has officially dropped `Woman’ his first single for the year which eulogises women.

    The Made Men Music Group artist took to his Instagram handle @teknoofficial on Friday to announce the release of the song.

    The 26-year-old Bauchi born songwriter and dancer from Ebonyi State glorified women in the four minutes and 18 seconds song.

    The `Jogodo’ crooner in the lyrics of the song explained that woman were not just meant to be in the kitchen or excluded from important meetings.

    He further explained that he would like his lady to be by his side and also achieve great feats.

    The `Pana’ crooner further stressed that a woman could be a helper, lover, teacher and a President of a country.

    In November 2018, Tekno also refer to as `Slim Daddy’ had a temporary damage to his vocal cord due to excessive strain he had put on it overtime.

    However, the Davido’s `If’ producer was born into the family of five, (four boys and a girl) but grew up in some parts of Kaduna, Nasarawa and Abuja because his father was a soldier.

    In 2012, he performed his song “Onye Ne Kwu’’, his remix of Ice Prince’s “Oleku’’ at an event organised by comedian Julius Agu in Abuja.

    The performance attracted Iyanya and Ubi Franklyn of Made Men Music Group to him.

    In October 2013, he was signed to the music group and released several songs which include, “Dance”, “Anything”, “Duro”, “Wash” and many more.

    The song `Woman’ is his first single in the year 2019.

    It is only hope that the issue with his vocal cord is over and would continue to drop hits after hits in the new year.

    Tobi Bakre, BBNaija season three finalist, has clamoured for more platforms to appreciate the creativity and hard work of young people as he hosted the Nigerian Teen Choice Awards (NTCA).

    The event, which took place in Lagos on Sunday, celebrated several young people who had contributed immensely to societal growth.

    The NTCA is an annual event that celebrates and encourages deserving teenagers and personalities in various categories including music, lifestyle, media, movies, education, fashion and innovation.

    Tobi, who was constantly cheered on as he chaperoned the show, appreciated the NTCA, adding that if such platforms existed when he was younger, he might had done better.

    According to him, “We would have done more with our creativity if platforms like this existed as it is exciting to know that people are around to cheer you up.”

    Tobi, who is also a photographer, actor and model, urged the older generation to join social media to view the works of young people and appreciate them.

    He said, “Our daddies and mummies, please join us on Instagram and Facebook, there is a lot happening there and support the younger ones.”

    Meanwhile, several exciting performances were displayed by upcoming teenage artists, some of whom were nominated for awards.

    The most notable awards for the night went to popular teenage producer and singer, Dr Jazz who won ‘Choice Producer of the Year’ and ‘Choice Male Vocalist’.

    Also, child star musician Queenyano Ohunene clinched the ‘Outstanding Young Female Artist of the Year’ award.

    Beginning from 2012, the NTCA has issued over 300 awards to young people including Seyi Shay, Davido, Praiz, Tekno and Korede Bello.

    Musician, Tekno, and his long standing girlfriend, Lola Rae, have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl.

    In his Instagram handle, teknoofificial, Tekno on Saturday congratulated himself “for this beautiful new born baby’’.

    “I am proud to be called a dad! Thanks you once again for putting things together.’’

    25-year-old Augustine Miles Kelechi popularly known by his stage name Tekno Miles or simply Tekno, from Ebonyi state has been dating Lola for a long time.

    Tekno, a singer-songwriter, producer, performer and dancer and an Ebonyi State indigene has yet to marry Lola.

    Rachel Akosua Funmilola Garton, 27, professionally known as Lola Rae, is a Nigerian-born singer and dancer of Ghanaian and British descent.

    The arrival of the baby has heralded social comments, with Slay Queen (Period Partner), ‏ @duchesskk, saying: “Tekno and Lola Rae having a baby together is all the shock I need for the rest of the month. Thanks’’.

    Non_Vogue Ass @voguechic said: “I didnt even know Lola rae and Tekno were still together let alone pregnant! Congrats to both. A baby is a blessing.’’

    Fat Belly ‘Nenye @The_Nenye, posted: “I thought Lola Rae dating Tekno was a joke. Well dang! They have a baby together now.’’

  • Tekno reconcile with Danfo drivers

    Going by a recent picture posted by Tekno, one may assume that the issue of intellectual property between popular singer Tekno and Danfo Drivers (Mad Melon and Mountain Black), has been resolved.

    It was reported days back that the latter stole the Ajegunle music stars’ song, ‘Kpolongo’, without their consent, claiming the singer did not get their permission before doing a remix.

    Having been off the scene for a while, the duo’s appearance at the recently held Headies 2018, was one of the highlights of the event.

    With the settlement being promoted on social media, fans of Tekno have commended him for doing the right thing.
