    Club World Cup: Nigeria’s  Tems  to thrill at Final halftime show

    The world soccer’s ruling body, FIFA,  has enlisted  Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, to thrill at the  Club World Cup final halftime show in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 13.

    The multi-award winners  was  named  by FIFA  along with American rapper Doja Cat  and Colombian singer J Balvin  for the show.

    Recall that  the 29-year-old Grammy Awards winner, headlined the Afrobeats themed halftime show at the 2023 NBA All-Star Game.

    Meanwhile,  the world soccer’s ruling body will also work with international education and advocacy organisation Global Citizen and British rock band Coldplay for the show on July 13.

    “Final halftime show will be curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to improve access to quality education,” FIFA said.

    The expanded 32-team Club World Cup runs from June 14-July 13 in the United States. Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami face Egypt’s Al-Ahly in the opening fixture on June 14 in Miami.

    Tems, Idris Elba, Wyclef Jean, others to grace SXSW in London

    Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems has been listed among global talents to grace the European debut of South by Southwest at SXSW London this summer.

    Other celebrities confirmed for the occasion include Idris Elba, Wyclef Jean, Katherine Ryan and Deepak Chopra.

    According to the organisers, the event’s Screen Festival will present the first U.K film retrospective of Grammy Award-winning artist and filmmaker Jenn Nkiru.

    “At this festival of convergence, attendees will hear from industry leaders at the cutting edge of what is new and future-facing alongside some of the world’s biggest talent from across music, film, tech and culture at the inaugural festival in Shoreditch,” organizers said.

    “SXSW London will include everything that attendees have come to expect from SXSW including talks, music and screen, alongside a focus on new themes, including visual arts and fashion.”
