  • 2019 Lagos City Marathon: D’banj, Teni promise to thrill fans

    TWO award-winning artistes, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj and fast-rising Teniola Apata better known as Teni The Entertainer have vowed to thrill fans when they perform live at the 2019 edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon scheduled to hold in Lagos on Saturday.

    The two music stars, who will be performing at Eko Atlantic City, the finish point of the 42km marathon race, made the pledge at the world press conference heralding the event which took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja Lagos on Friday.

    D’banj said, “For me, I’m an entertainer and I represent the entertainment industry. As you know, entertainment and sport are like brothers because even sport can be very entertaining. So I’m looking forward to see people run for the 50,000 dollars prize money tomorrow. I think it is going to be very entertaining. In entertainment industry, you have to be very fit, so we are both family.

    “I love the fact that we are here today, because, above everything, we are all showing a great light on our country. There is nothing that will boost tourism than what we are doing right now because we have over 5,000 people participating. I’m actually glad and honoured to be part of this set up. I wish I will be running tomorrow, but thank you, I am going to show myself on the stage as you will be entertained after the race,” the Koko Master said.

    In her reaction, Teni said, “I am really excited to be part of this event, this is good for Lagos State. I played basketball in school and I know the importance of sport, the exposure it is going to bring to Lagos State because there are lots of people outside the country coming into Lagos. It is good for us and I wish everyone success.”

    D’banj and Teni were also named as ambassadors by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria at the event.

  • Tenientertainer’s ‘Uyo Meyo’ receives positive reviews

    Fast rising singer, Teniola Apata aka Tenientertainer is receiving massive accolades on social media for her new song, ‘Uyo Meyo’.

    Teni released the soulful track, sang in Ondo dialect, on Sunday to celebrate her birthday although she shared a snippet during her graduation in July.

    Announcing the song on her Instagram page @tenientertainer, she wrote, “Uyo Meyo’ out now on all platforms. A gift from me to you. Ondo to the world.”

    Following the song’s release, fans have taken to social media an to commend the rhythm of the song and the use of Yoruba language. The song began trending on Twitter, staying at Number three worldwide.

    @kevinsykes tweeted, “Listening to @TeniEntertainer #Uyomeyo. Apart from being such a beautiful song, I think it buttresses how important it is to be grounded in your mother tongue. Happy birthday, Makanaki! May you live long.”

    The Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, will on December 28, host the heavyweight clash between music and boxing.  The occasion is GOtv Boxing Night 17, which is tagged “Boxing Jams Music”. Performing live at the show are Burna Boy, Wande Coal, Teni da Entertainer and Daddy Showkey.

    With its combination of boxing and music, the event, according to Flykite Productions, the organisers, is the ultimate entertainment package for the festive season.

    “Music and boxing are major sources of entertainment. It is why we have contracted four of the country’s top musical acts to add plenty of spice to the show, which will feature eight bouts, including the World Boxing Federation Intercontinental super featherweight title bout. Our aim is to provide a well-rounded, year-end entertainment package for Nigerians,” said Jenkins Alumona, Managing Director, Flykite Productions.

    He added that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure fans feel safe in and around the event venue.

    “Security is very important. One of our partners, KSquare Security, is a leader in the sub-sector. The firm is vastly experienced in handling events of this magnitude. In addition, we will also have government security personnel. There is nothing to fear. Since the event began in 2014, there has not been a single untoward incident in and around the venues we have used. This event is conceived with the family in mind,” he explained.

  • Teni: My parents have been very supportive

    New kid on block, musician Teni has said she enjoyed the support of her parents. The ‘Wait’ crooner said this while being introduced as one of the artistes that will perform at this year’s edition of One Lagos Fiesta scheduled to hold from December 24, 2018 to January 1, 2019 at different locations across Lagos.

    “My parents have been very supportive,” she said, reacting to questions from journalists.

    She also promised OLF fans to expect to hear all her singles.

    “They should expect Teni performing and giving myself to them, having fun as well.”

    And while she is enjoying the fame and attention of music lovers, especially in Nigeria, Teni said that she is not even near where she wants to be.

    “Oh no, I haven’t even scratched the surface,” said Teni.

    Speaking about what the future holds for her, she said, “only God can say but hopefully great and amazing.”

  • Music critic begs Teni after slamming her looks

    MUSIC critic Osagie Alonge who recently slammed singer Teniola Apata for her looks on an episode of his podcast called ‘Loose Talk’ has come under verbal attacks from Nigerians.

    Osagie who is popularly known as Osagz had said that Teniola would not make it in the music industry and would be better off in the entertainment industry as a songwriter rather than a singer because “she doesn’t have the looks.”

    Osagz’s comment did not go unnoticed by Nigerians who took to social media to slam him for his biased opinion with their comments. Hushpuppi reacted by quoting Adele “Music is for the Ears not the eyes” @tenientertainer.  Osgaz was also asked to take back his offensive comment as references were made to talented musicians like Sia, Queen Latifah and Missy Elliot. Oher successful plus-sized entertainers include Eniola Badmus, Lepacious Bose and Wunmi Obe.

    Though Osagz has apologised to Teniola on his Instagram page, claiming that his statement was taken out of context and only have her best interest at heart, fans maintained that degrading entertainers based on looks instead of talents should stop.

    The plus-sized singer and song writer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni entertainer is considered to be a tomboy who prefers the African style and has won several awards especially for her “fargin” song.

  • Teni, Teddy A, others perform at Basement Gig

    It was a jamming session last Thursday, as Big Brother Naija Season 3 Housemates, Teddy A and K Brule, the Makanaki Queen, Teni, Winner of MTN Project Fame Season 9, Okiemute, Deshinor and Al Ghalib performed at the 16th edition of Basement Gig.

    The event which was hosted by the duo of Kemi Smallzz and Sheye Banks held at Alba lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos opened with performances from Rotex, Echo, and Discovery acts Tu2 and Banke. On the wheels of steel was Dj Six7even.

    Also in attendance at the musical platform showcasing the finest emerging artistes were some industry gurus like Aramide, Skales, Dj Xclusive, Ehiz, Samantha Walsh, EmmaOhMaGod and Cool fm OAP’s Mannie and Kaylah.
