    Babatunde, Ukraine club terminate contract

    Ukrainian Premier League club, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk have announced that they have parted company with Nigeria international, Michael Babatunde by mutual consent.

    The attacking midfielder penned a one – year contract with Dnipro in August, which would have kept him at the Dnipro-Arena until June 30, 2016 if both parties had honoured the terms of the agreement.

    At the request of Michael Babatunde,  Dnipro terminated his contract after he told the club that he wants to seek new pastures  to enhance his chances of earning a recall to the Super Eagles.

    During the four months he was on the books of last season’s Europa League finalists, the 22 – year – old managed only two appearances in the Premier League and played an additional three games in the Cup, scoring two goals.

    The Heartland product began his career in Ukraine with FC Kryvbas in 2011 before transferring to FC Volyn Lutsk two years later.

    Akpoveta to terminate Bronshoj contract

    According to information gathered by  allnigeriasoccer.com, Oke Akpoveta is preparing to bid farewell to demoted Danish First Division club Brønshøj.

    Ten months ago, the attacker penned a one – and – a – half year deal with Brønshøj that ought to tie him to the club until June 30, 2016.

    There is a clause inserted into the contract that allows him to shred that agreement should the Copenhagen – based outfit lose their second – tier status at the end of this season.

    The former Warri Wolves and Brondby forward has decided to take up that option and will end his collaboration with Brønshøj after their last game of the season against Vejle on Saturday, June 6.

    It is understood that Oke Akpoveta is weighing up offers from clubs in Denmark and Sweden.

    Sounders terminate Apam’s contract

    Onyekachi Apam’s hope of resurrecting his career has suffered a set back after Major League Soccer (MLS) side, Seattle Sounders, released him and two other Nigerians from the current squad.

    The club, in a statement, revealed they are declining contract options of eight players including defender Apam and forward Sean Okoli, while defender Jalil Anibaba is out of contract.

    “In our league it’s a consistent challenge to keep successful teams together, and these types of decisions are always difficult,” said Sounders FC Owner and General Manager Adrian Hanauer.

    “Having said that, conversations are ongoing with several players about their respective futures with our club, and as we continue to shape the roster for 2015 we’ll have additional announcements to share.”

    The former Nigeria youth international failed to make an appearance for Sounders since joining on a free transfer in September 2014.

    Meanwhile, Sean Okoli played three games before joining second-tier Orange County on loan, while Anibaba played 17 games for Sounders, who have opted not to renew his contract.

    Sounders, winners of the 2014 MLS Supporters’ Shield and the U.S. Open Cup, currently maintain a squad of 23 players including Nigerian Obafemi Martins, who scored 17 goals and made 13 assists in the 2014 season.

    Nigerian midfielder John Ogu has revealed that he will terminate his contract with his Portuguese club Academica Coimbra after he was informed he was surplus to requirement.

    Ogu, who is currently training on his own in Lisbon, also regretted the new coach’s  decision to sanction him for resuming late despite informing the club officials for his lateness

    “There’s no point staying with a team that doesn’t need me,” he told SportingLife from Lisbon.

    “It is better I end it with them since I’m not wanted anymore. My lawyers will be writing them in a couple of hours from now to terminate my contract with Academica,” the Nigerian international revealed.

    When quizzed on where his future lies, the former Uniao de Lieria player added that he is hopeful of joining a new team that will respect him better.

    “I’m hopeful of a new team by God’s grace.”

    Ogu played only seven games in the past season compared to the 20 games he featured in the 2012/2013 season.

    He scored his first international goal in his second start for the senior national team against Mexico in a friendly game which took place at the Reliant Stadium in Houston.
